  • Just Like Pompeii

As reviewed by Kenny on 6/4/2010

If you've seen Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii, you've witnessed the awesomeness of this pedal. My idols, Hendrix and Gilmour, used this pedal to achieve their signature tone. This device couldn't be easier, plug it in, mess with the knobs a little, then jam out. With this, a nice stratocaster, and a good amp, you're one step closer to the best.

  • Not the best out there

As reviewed by Heath Myers on 10/3/2011

The Dunlop fuzz is a decent pedal. It's not the best and its not the worst. It creates a nice fuzzy sound when playing lower notes. And when playing chords it sounds excellent. I have a couple problems with mine. First is a mechanical error. When switching from fuzz to clean it sometimes produces no sound at all when I hit the switch....which makes this pedal a no-go for live shows. Secondly, this pedal, at least with my setup, has so little sustain. There is no way to crank out a solo unless you run another gain pedal in front of it. The notes just drown out after a couple seconds. Also, picking low to high notes, you won't even hear the high notes....if your looking for a fuzz pedal, do your research. There are better ones out there that cost more, but are worth it.

  • The buzz about the Fuzz

As reviewed by Dave on 3/3/2008

The Fuzz Face is a large pedal. The sheer size of it takes you back to its 60's roots. One thing to be sure, this pedal will not get kicked over on its side or fold under pressure. THe all metal housing and low center of gravity make it more like a tank than a traditional pedal. I like the primative sound that the Fuzz face pedal puts out, however with its current setup, Marshall MG 50, the effect know needs to be turned in the 50%-75% position to get any of the desired effect. Battery location and cahanging is a bit of a pain since you need to unscrew the bottow to get to it, and no option for an auzillary power supply does keep this pedal "true" to its vintage heritage. The sound that the FF puts out is a timewarp to the summer of love. Jimi picked a winner when he chose this pedal. This is a great edition to your pedal collection. You'll find yourself wanting to play every song you know with the new sound and become inspired to learn more or create your own.
