Essential Gear
When you think of famous guitarists and their gear, Jimi Hendrix is the first guy to come to mind. Hendrix used a fuzz face built by ROger Mayer. While the new fuzz face is not neccessarily built by Roger Mayer, the design and circuitry are still there. This pedal gives you that warm fuzz sound. I tried out the electro-harmonix Big Muff Pi but it just didn't cut it. I'm into more blusy classic rock style music. Bottom line, if you love Hendrix's sound you should try this pedal out. Note: Hendrix used the middle pickup on his strat and played through a marshall amp. If you do this you won't believe how much it sounds like Hendrix. He also played a right-handed guitar upside down but that's a different story.

FUZZ FACE MASTER
no just kidding, but i did buy 2 of them. if you like jimi hendrix's sound or even a recent band like the white stripes youll love this pedal. as far as the sound being like the original i dont know. some misinformed people have said that now the fuzz faces are made with new harsh sounding silcon transistors. instead of the smoother sounding original germananium transistors. take it from me, the fuzz face is made with nkt275 germananium trannys. they even have a big G printed on them. and i confirmed this with a electronic supply that nkt275 tranny is a germananium tranny. i also switched out the nkt275 trannys with some other germ.trannys and the sound was simular. complaints : 1)the in/out inputs are backwards. all modern pedals input on right and output on the left. a 5 minute fix 2)youll need to buy their ac adapter that goes on the battery connector. or use batteries. love this pedal!!! also check out guitargeek.com they have an easy face pedal you can build. very simple

Fuzzin' It Up
This fuzz pedal is great for just about anything you put to it. I play blues and classic rock and occasionally older metal but this red ufo fits the bill no matter what you through at it. I play it through a Marshall and a Fender tube amp with multiple Les Pauls and you can get from jazzy warmth (generally with the FUZZ lower) or crank up some metal (with both knobs on "11") and it still mantains the basic tone of your amp. The price is great, the quality is top notch and the features are really all you need! The only slight problems I've encountered are 1; to change the battery you have to remove the whole back-plate with a screw and 2; the Input and Output's are switched from modern pedals. But minor adjustment aids these difficulties and I still wouldn't buy anything else. Great pedal!

Great Pedal
I own both this fuzz pedal and an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. They both sound great and it is hard to compare. The Dallas Arbiter has more high-end tones and is not as heavy as the big muff. This pedal has a really good tone. My only gripe about it is that it can only be powered by a battery. But I just bought a DC connector from an electronics store so I could plug it in to my pedal board.

Fuzz!!!
This is the fuzz pedal Hendrix used throughout his career. Mention this pedal to any rabid fuzz nut and you hear a flurry of cryptic part numbers like AC-128s, BC 108 and 109s, BC-183Ls, and NKT-275s. Two hours later you?ve just endured a longwinded lecture on all the different Germanium PNP and Silicon Transistors used in the various Fuzz Faces. While there is much debate over which model is the best, most experts agree on that the Germanium NKT-275 Model sounds the sweetest. Thats said, the Fuzz Face is that recognizable bassy to mid-toned fuzz. It?s warm and wooly with just enough edge to make full grown amps melt. These things literally sing and that ablity to sing is what has made this particular model the Holy Grail of all fuzz boxes. Prices on the used market are in the ridiculous range so most gearheads buy the Dunlop Re-issue, and modify them to original specs.
