I really like this pickup. I have a few acoustic guitars and wanted a pickup for recoding and it works great. No buzzing at all. I plug it in to my VS880 with no issues or buzzing. I would like to get an acoustic with a built in pick up but for what I have now, it does the job. If you handle the pickup carefully and keep it in the plastic case when not using it ,it should last a long time and less likely to have any issues. If you play with an amp you get feedback if you dont turn the volume down. I enjoy using it and would recomend it to anyone that has a need for a removable pickup and doesn't have a lot of cash to spare.

Not worth the money

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

I played live with this pickup once and it performed fine, but after that I rarely used it. A few months later, the pickup started buzzing, and it later stopped working all together.

Grayjay

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

This is my second Duncan Maverick PU. I've put one in each of my Martins but wired them for a end peg jack. You have to spend a bucket of money to do better. I play through a Marshall 50 watt acoustic amp and they sound great. Good and equal response across the strings. LL Braggs is better by a little but unless you're a pro why pay the bucks. It would be nice if they offered it wired to a strap peg jack but for a few extra bucks it's still a great buy. I'll be putting one in my Blueridge BG40 before too long. Definite thumbs up.

Good buy

By Thomas

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

I bought this pickup for the price. I really enjoy it. I have found that the pickup tends to come loose during play, and it also has no gain control so you can experince some feedback. This usually can be corrected by reducing the overall volume of the amp..

duncan performer pickup

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

would give it 5 stars but it does come lose during live performances, but overall sound is great and the feedback is a whole lot less than the other 4 guitars with on board sound,no buzz what so ever when going through a DI box played in medium size club and was asked to turn guitar down twice.

Does what its supposed to

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

If you want a reliable, decent sounding sound hole pickup for a small amount of cash this is a great choice. The balance across the strings is great and the tone is warm. My brother has a similarly priced Dean Markley that does not have as much volume as the Duncan Performer. I've never had feed back problems but that could be because I never use this pickup in high volume situations. Like one of the previous reviewers I cut the cable and installed semi-permanently with an endpin jack. It has worked great in this setup for about 6 years. The small size ensures that it does not interfere with sound when used unplugged. If you're on a budget I would definitely recommend this pickup.

STEER CLEAR!!!

By Sean

from Kansas City Missouri

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

I bought this unit to help me hear everything when I sing. I can't focus on anything due to the buzzing this thing puts off. I just bought it today and am going to take it back. Putting it on was really easy and the sound isn't terrible but by no means good. I think i'll stick with mics from now on.

it is great!

By namdien le

Comments about Duncan Performer Maverick Soundhole Pickup:

I didn't realize sound hole pick up would not work on nylon string so no matter how much I turn up my amp there was no sound. I brought my guitar and pickup to local guitar store to seek advice. Joe Mirabile pointed out that I need to replace nylon string with steel string. He showed me the current sale of steel string. I bought several packs. After put steel string on, BAM !!! everything work perfectly !!!
