Overview

DrumDial quickly and precisely tunes all drums by accurately measuring drumhead tension, not tension rod torque. Tension rod torque can be used to tell you when you are over-tightening a bolt to prevent thread damage, but is not accurate for drum tuning because of the difference in screw tolerances, plating, corrosion, and thread wear.

You can eliminate these problems by using a DrumDial to measure drumhead tension directly from the drumhead, allowing you to precisely tune your drums faster and easier than ever before. DrumDial has been designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards with all the key features you would expect from the best drum tuner available.

I have 4 sets and 6 snares. Since I gig on a regular basis this devise has saved me hours of tuning by ear. One I have a drum tuned to the sound I want I can duplicate that tuning every time....My drums have never sounded so good. It took a little while to get familiar with the device. But with the tuning being done on the head instead of on the lug method, it shows me when a head is also defective. Which is something you can't always tell out of the box. Very useful product. I would recommend any starting drummer to learn by ear first, then use a dial. I wish I had bought one much sooner.

It actually tunes pretty good, at least as close as most normal drummers do.
But the real advantage to this is in recording and having to change heads.
If you keep a log of what your setting are you can not tell a difference in a recording, when you had to replace a head in the middle of it. Now that's a real big deal right there.

A Must-Have Luxery for Me

By JeromeHill

from Michigan

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

I've never tuned drum heads before in my life and when I bought my first kit with my very poor hearing from my Army days, I wondered how I'd manage. I saw this product reviewed on another website and decided it was "for me". Let me tell you, this was an amazing purchase. Within about 5 minutes, I had all 5 pieces of my new kit tuned and they sounded great. Not bad for a beginner, right? The included booklet's suggested settings were great and my 8 10 and 14 inch fusion toms were tuned to a near perfect triad. A definite buy for this like me with bad hearing and/or little time to waste tuning.

By BRAIN@GC336

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

Drumdial? AWESOMELY EFFECTIVE! As a drummer and a seller of drumdial, Ive seen first hand the dials effectiveness in drum tuning. I never have to sell the dial. I show the custy how I tune ALL the kits in my shop, they always walk out with a DrumDial. Super-Fast, Super-Accurate, and super easy to use. From the Ludwig Accent to the DW Burl, I have over 50 happy customers using this amazing tool. How did you make phonecalls before cell phones were created? Drumdial is the "Cellphone" in drum world. Tuning by ear is now officially in the dark ages. Its almost more valuable then sticks. Two Words...GET IT!!!

Great Tool for any drummer!!

By Ronnie J

from Butler, MO

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

All I have to say is, "thank you drum dial." Tuning drums is very tough to do by ear, and takes some time. This product makes every drummers life a whole lot easier. Tune your drums in half the time it would normally take. I've had the dial for quite some time now and it is still working great. The best thing about it is that it's not very big so it's easy to carry along to a gig. The box that it comes in doubles as a handy little case to protect it from getting damaged easily. Great buy!! Tama also makes a tuner, but I haven't used it yet. My Drumdial works great for me.

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

THe drumdial Drum tuner is simply a great piece of equipment at the sale price for all users. I am glad that I have it everyt time I need to change any part of my set. It takes the guesswork out of tuning my set. I have only one main problem with it, it has trouble tuning piccillo snares. Every other aspect of this tool is very good.

The DrumDial!

By l0p3z08

from Undisclosed

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

The DrumDial is just amazin, it's so simple to use & after you use it for a while you learn to tune your drums by ear alot better. This was the best way to spend $60 for my drums, this is a must buy. Know what drums really sound like & use my tune settings, for Snare Top use 90 & 80 for Bottom, for the Toms Top use 72 & 80 for Bottoms & for the Kick use 72 & 75 on your front head. You dont even have to hit ur toms or snare to prove it's tune, the DrumDial leaves it all perfectly tuned.

Very Useful!!

By Nick

from Ft. Worth, TX

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

Bought this the other day after having read about it, and adding it to my "wish list" here on GC.com. Got it home, and was instantly putting it to use. I still have the default remo single ply's that came with my PDP X7 series, and even then they were able to get tuned up. The initial tune was a bit "twangy" for my likings, but I tuned them down about 5 points from the recommended as I play progressive metal, and that seemed to work like a charm. It's hard to tune my bass drum batter head because I use the Evans EMAD, and the foam fixture on the head makes it hard for the drumdial to seat properly, but for the remaining six pieces of my set, it's brought it all to life. I've been an avide drummer for 15 years, but never quite obtained the ear for tuning, and now, I don't much have to worry about that. I don't think that you have to have an ear for tuning to be a good drummer though, because skill and hearing are two seperate entities. Overall, as important to a drummer as blades to a lawnmower. Pick it up when you can!!

Cuts Tuning Time Down, Increases Accuracy

By Matt

from South Bend, IN

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

The Drumdial drum tuner is amazing. If you're used to tuning by ear and sense, get ready for a revolution. You put it by each screw, and tells you the xact tightness of the head in that area. By tuning each screw evenly, you greatly increase the life of your drum heads. There will be no cracking, less denting, and much more long-lasting sound quality. The tuner also cuts the time you spend tuning way down. I just tighten the head until it is somewhat tight, then I use the drumdial to even it out and get the right sound. It comes with a chart that shows you what you might want to tune each screw to, but I stopped using to customize my sound more. The drumdial will really help you tp put your own voice and stule into your drums. I have a pdp set with weatherking coated ambassadors. Thanks to the drumdial though, I can get to sound like anything from John Bonham's Ludwig to Charlie Watt's Gretsch, it works great. It's a great invention, you won't be dissapointed, so go for it.

Basically a "save your sound settings" feature in real life.

By Mr. Slayer

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about DrumDial Drum Tuner:

This is the perfect tool to tune your drums to the exact settings you like. Use the Drum Dial guidelines to find your basic even tone and tweak to your ear's satisfaction. Once you've achieved the sound you want take readings and record the results and you will always be able to return to that sound. This is an essential item for both the pro drummer with a definite sound and the tone chaser who constantly needs to tinker with heads, hoops and hardware. Highly recommended.
