I absolutely LOVED the original TRIO. When I heard about the TRIO+ with a built-in looper, I was stoked! Unfortunately, the pedal's FX loop is not compatible with my Fender Mustang III (v1) FX Send / Return loop and causes feedback. The TRIO's FX loop has to be used with external effects pedals or a pedalboard. This won't be an issue for most folks with external pedals or pedalboards, but if you are like me and are just a songwriter and not really a performer, you may not need or want all those external gadgets. I can dial up ever tone and effect I'll ever need using my amp, so I really wanted to make the TRIO+ looper work with my amp (my Ditto Looper works fine with it).

I found a workaround by using external amplified studio monitor speakers with a 1/4" input. The bass & drums output from the TRIO goes to my bass amp, the TRIO's guitar out goes to some amplified studio monitor speakers, the TRIO's FX Send goes to my Fender Mustang III's normal guitar input and the Mustang III's FX Send goes to the TRIO's FX Return input. That is the only way I was able to get the looper work correctly with the Mustang III. Using this hookup, the looper layers are recorded with whatever effect I have active on the amp when I'm recording the layer and not effected by things like lead overdrive effects when they are played back while I'm playing lead.

i have the original trio and was excited when this was released but its not as good as the original trio the drums are horrible and the cymbals are worse and it has the simple bass button it gives you a bassline so simple it sounds like a beginner drummer taking lessons and the regular bass line is unusable most of the time too i have had it almost 2 weeks and i plan on returning it this week

Comments about Digitech Trio+ Band Creator Plus Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is my first effect pedal purchase, and I am very pleased with how easy it is to use this pedal. I don't have an electric guitar yet, but I have plugged in my Casio CDP-130 keyboard, my Yamaha acoustic guitar, and one of my mics for vocals and they all work with the looper and back up band feature, which was huge for me since I thought it worked with guitar only. I like that this pedal has a few more features than the original Trio Band Creator, and I love to use the pedal whenever I am practicing on my own. I love that there are volume knobs for bass and drums so you can choose what you want played back when you teach the pedal the song you're playing. The only thing I wish they could've added would be some kind of tempo meter so you could have a more precise tempo marking instead of just having a knob to turn to make it slower or faster. Otherwise a great pedal!

Comments about Digitech Trio+ Band Creator Plus Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Trio+ Looper is great for teaching, learning and practicing. If you're Uber experienced with the device, you could even take your solo act on the road - or down to your nearest coffee house jam. I can easily imagine this technology growing and getting even smarter. This thing is brilliant. It does have some limitations, but overall worth the price! You can build parts and play along endlessly without the bass and drums ever getting sick of your endless, face-melting solos. It's addicting, this little toy.

Comments about Digitech Trio+ Band Creator Plus Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

Old school Recording Engineer / Musician
Bought the original Trio. And I have to say the Trio plus is well worth the extra $$
The SD cards I will get some more ive had this a month and have used it little but already have 10 songs programmed. 12 songs per 8 gig card. Makes no sence getting a larger card it holds and stores its max on a 8 gig card so stock up and with the 5 parts sequence it will be fine for most basic songs. Digitech did a great job on this but id like to see more parts like 10 and the volume controls would be nice on the bass, drums & your loop if you could actively them in the recorded parts without changing all. As they say keep the bass & Drums around 10 o'clock. Having the SD card for me is a needed add on over the first Trio as is the looper with the 5 parts you can record into. Ive found that ive needed to record not full measures on some parts to break up my songs and other times added more than a measure depending. You can always sequence in the extra tmes you need to. The other thing ive found is if you do want to play live with it you might just want to record the parts and click to the parts needed instead of sequencing the entire song due to you may want it differently live and you can add the cha goes needed. All in all. Im practicing with a clue of different groups and doing my own thi g and one of my buddies also has tbe plus and I think I might just duplicate the sd cards so we are going over the sa.e songs.. ha is not really use to his as of yet but to tell you the truth this thing is EZ as can be. Be sure to connect the guitar to your amp and mixer to a pa or yo u will not be e happy with the sound. I use the headphones ally when im putti g songs together. Im now finding it much quicker and no amp needed. Perfect fo r the road. I will never travel without it.
      Love the thing. Peace!!!
      Rock on!!!

Comments about Digitech Trio+ Band Creator Plus Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

Fairly quick and easy to teach for most tunes. Decent selection of genres/styles. Have only gigged with it 3 times in a duo, but it has worked very well. Can't speak to the looper, since I've only used it for bass and drums.

5 tune parts is fine for maybe 80% of the tunes I've tried. For the other 20%, I either needed to change the arrangement, or consolidate parts to squeeze them into 5, which has mostly worked, but of course you're stuck with one style over each part. It would be a nice firmware upgrade to double this to 10 parts by using another button as a part toggle.

About half the time, I've had to pluck simplified chords each quarter note throughout a part to get it to understand where to switch the bass notes at the right time. Strangely, I've had to do this more on simple tunes than complex ones.

The ability to change the temp is nice. However, the knob does not have a very strong detent in the middle position. When you set the pedal up on stage (in fact every time you move it), you'll need to double check that it's centered, because most likely it no longer is. It would be nice in a futire upgrade, if you could change the tempo, and resave it. Since it can't do this, I've had to re-teach several tunes because I wasn't careful enough with my tempo when I recorded. I've resorted to getting out the dreaded metronome for teaching new tunes now.

It would be really nice to have a firmware upgrade to toggle the tempo knob to make it double as a pitch knob. My duo partner has already wanted me to change the key on a few tunes, which currently means reteaching the tune from scratch.

Several people have complained about the quality of the styles, but I think they're fine, even for gigging. The bass and drums sound more human than computer generated to me. I've been a band in a box user since the '80s MSDOS (pre-windows) version, so I'm mostly used to the way it does things.

I think this pedal is the best option for making "backing tracks" quickly

Comments about Digitech Trio+ Band Creator Plus Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is all around fun. To get the best tone from bass and drums, I ran it through a full PA.....two Alto 12's and 15in sub that I have set up at all times in my studio. If you are just running through a guitar cab this is going to sound really bad; run out to a mixer, PA and amp for the best tone. There is some slight guitar tone loss; that is to say, you will loose some sparkle from your amp, If you have a low end amp this may be an issue. To get around the slight guitar tone loss, turn up the gain or use a clean boost pedal to fatten up the mix. The slight guitar tone loss is forgivable because of all the fun this pedal allows ( I never thought I'd say something like that). I couldn't stop laughing because I was amazed by what this pedal can do, it's inspiring for sure.
