I played with this a few months ago in store and thought it was a cool gadget. I got it last night for a birthday present and have played with it for about 3 hours. I know that's not much time for a review, but this is to complement all the other reviews you can find online.

Use if for what it is, and you'll have fun. What it is, is a great solo jam, practice tool. The sounds are kind of silly, but in many respects, it's a more 'alive' metronome. Makes jamming alone more fun. It won't take the place of a real drummer; it doesn't have that give and take you get with a live drummer. In just the short time I've had the Trio, it's been a lot of fun. It's lead me to some riffs that maybe I wouldn't have gotten just playing the guitar on its own. It's nice to have a drum sound without having the program a drum machine or connect a bunch of stuff. I use this with my Blackstar HT5 and you can run the backing output to the MP3 in, then the guitar signal to the amp and it gives you a lot of control of the mix. I imagine you'd want to use it in that set up, or with two amps. I think it will be fun as a stand alone box with just a pair of headphones. Could plug it into the 4 track and easily capture a jam for record and to come back and work things out later.

On the other hand, I'm working on original material with a drummer, and the Trio won't help for that. We are doing heavy, sludgy metal type stuff, and it doesn't seem to lend itself to that kind of sound.

But for practicing, running around the fretboard, working on my timing and rhythm, I think this thing will get heavy use.

Good idea, but very limited range of use. Bass lines don't sound great and very computerized

Comments about Digitech Trio Band Creator Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Trio is much better than a drum machine or metronome as it responds to your tempo and chord changes. Once programmed, it is very enjoyable to freestyle as a lead guitarist.

Can be limited at times. Not really going to use it live. Great to practice against at home and no one complains or gets bored. I've been able to work out ideas and that usually takes me a long time. Adds more than a drum machine alone can. Also great to feed into my looper.Buy the footswitch.

Comments about Digitech Trio Band Creator Guitar Effects Pedal:

Songwriting just became easier with this little wonder-box. Instead of just hearing your guitar, you now have instant additional instruments that help to enhance what you hear in your head. The separate volume controls for the 'bass' and the 'drums' really helps to add to this little but very cool box.

after 2 weeks of use, I really force myself to like these pedal, but I can't, I returned it.
it can do simple progressions above that the bass lines are not good.
It also sound too digital. Maybe these pedal will be better once improved.
for the meantime, I use my looper for practicing.

Comments about Digitech Trio Band Creator Guitar Effects Pedal:

I went looking for a back up drum sounding machine.. GC recommended the Trio, I should have kept my money in my pocket. The drum tracks are flat sounding as if recorded with a practice mat on the drum heads. The Bass notes playing in the back sound like they came from a diffefrent song. The second part is not recorded at the same tempo, so it does not match any part of the song being played. Not only am I sorry to have purchased this, now I have to make a special trip back, 45 miles each way, just to return it.. DON'T BUY this, unless you want drums that sound like they are in a closet in another room, and a bass player who can't read music, and only plays one song.. The hype about the multi-styles is just that.. They all sound the same, only the Tempo(speed) changes.. As for the models, i.e. country, rock and such...NO ONE who tried out my TRIO could tell any difference.! They ALL sound the same.. I'm VERY DISSAPOINTED IN DIGITECH.! They have made good products in the past, but this is NOT one of them..
