Overview

The DigiTech Drop is a dedicated polyphonic drop tune pedal that allows you to drop your tuning from one semitone all the way down to a full octave. Get down-tuned chunk without having to change guitars! The Drop also features a momentary/latching switch. With the switch set to momentary, you can turn the Drop into a true performance pedal. Fast trills and roller-coaster pitch dips are at the tip of your toes.

Controls
Effects Selector Knob - Selects which of the Drop effect settings is used when the effect is active.

Momentary On/Off Switch - Selects how the effect footswitch will operate. Setting this switch to "ON" will cause the footswitch to act as a momentary switch (the effect will be enabled or disabled only as long as the footswitch is pressed and held). Setting this switch to "OFF" will cause the footswitch to act as a standard latching on/off switch.

On a whim I decided to order this pedal even though I was concerned with some of the negative feedback I read regarding latency. When I received the pedal I tested the latency myself and I could find little to no gap audible to me. Perhaps if you have other pedals in front or behind this pedal, it could effect the latency more, but this is the only pedal I run in front of my EVH 5150 III, and it works very well. Although I considered giving this product 5 stars, I knocked a star because with my amp and pickups (Duncan Distortions) the best representation of the dropped tones were at 5 semitones. Perhaps with a different amp or pickups one could utilize the full octave, but with my current setup it didn't sound as natural after 5 semitones. In the end I am very happy not having to own more than 2 electric guitars now as a result of owning this pedal so that I may be able to play a plethora of songs that aren't restricted to open or lower drop tunings than Drop D. Bravo Digitech!

I play electric bass and prefer E standard tuning. When our vocalist wants to sing a song a half or full pitch lower, I simply push a button and we're there. No more keeping 2 or even 3 basses on stage. However, the further away you get from your base tuning, the more distorted and artificial the sound becomes. The other review said 5 semitones. I'd say 3 ( I agree, no latency issues). More problemmatic, on very high notes it gives two distinct non-harmonic pitches simultaneously. I first noticed it on high notes on the G string on my bass. Then I ran both an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar through it just to check the sound and it was pure dischord...unplayable. I play in two bands, a 5 piece band that does classic pop/rock covers, and a trio (guitar, vocal, me) that does jazz, R&B, and soul. The "Drop" is great for practice in both bands. I don't have to haul multiple basses to cramped practice space with bad acoustics. On stage, I use the Drop in the pop/rock band. About 20% of our songs require downtuning to E flat or D standard, but the through the mix in a noisy environment the slight reduction in sound quality isn't noticeable. Beats switching basses and breaking up the flow of the sets. For the other group where my sound is much more distinguishable and the venues are more laid back and less noisy, I use multiple basses. I want a pure sound.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great pedal that does exactly what I expected it to do. My only negative comment is that if the volume on your amp is low, you'll still hear your string and the sub notes will clash. However, this obviously won't affect recording and for live performances, your amp volume will probably be turned up.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have a Schecter C-1 Platinum with a Floyd Rose tremolo in the bridge and I was using an Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork as a drop tuner and the sound quality was awful especially for playing leads. I sold the Pitch Fork and bought the Drop. The drop is exactly what I was looking for and now I can go all the way down an octave and have my guitar sound similar to a bass. It's amazing and worth every penny.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I purchased this pedal based off of many reviews, and comparisons online, and clips on youtube, and this pedal did not disappoint in person. It does a very good job of tracking the incoming signal, but it can get a bit loose once you go too low. Its perfect for dropping a half or whole step, and does a great job when going lower than that. I recommend this pedal for those who dont want multiple guitars, or have a floyd rose equiped guitar like I do.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I previously had the Morpheus drop tune, and loved it. However it just took up too much board space. The Digitech drop is 10x better. Smaller, much easier to use and it sounds better too! If you hate re-tuning or bringing extra guitars to gigs for 1 or 2 songs as much as I do, you eill love this pedal as it solves all of that bs. Plus you get the octaver and the octave down (bass guitar simulator) as a bonus!

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I like only using 1 - 2 guitars when practicing or live shows and recording. This pedal gives me the ability to do just that. If I'm just jamming and running through some warm up songs in a different tuning all I do is turn a nob and I'm there !

This pedal is absolutely awesome. When we we are playing and I need to go to a quick drop tuning just select the setting and step on it. Eliminates having to take multiple tuned guitars to a gig.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've used this about a dozen times both with my classic rock band (our aging voices causing us to downtune quite a bit!), and with performing with a church praise band. Great for learning lead riffs as recorded and then switching down as necessary when playing downtuned.

Comments about Digitech The Drop Polyphonic Drop Tune Pitch-Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:

I had been hesitant on purchasing this pedal for over six months after reading all of the reviews. I was wanting a pedal that could drop a semitone or two without constantly retuning my bass to play Eb, D standard, or C standard where my strings got really noodley. Once I get my second bass and I set it up for Drop D I will be all set. I have this running through GK 4x10s with a 700RB head and I do not notice any unnatural sounds like the other individuals but I am only dropping four semitones only. Love this pedal.
