When DigiTech developed the PDS 8000 looper pedal over 20 years ago, it offered eight seconds of delay or looped audio. When the company reinvented looper pedals in 2005 with the original JamMan, over six hours worth of material could be recorded and stored on a removable media card. Now DigiTech has combined the best of both these worlds in the JamMan Delay Looper pedal. The JamMan Delay Looper features both true stereo looping and a fully programmable stereo delay with powerful control over both effects.

The Looper in the JamMan Delay effect pedal offers true stereo looping with 35 minutes of built-in memory, 99 internal loop memories, and an SD card expansion slot for an additional 99 loops and over 16 hours of stereo loop storage. USB connectivity provides syncing to DigiTech's free JamManager looper librarian software that organizes and saves your loops to a PC or Mac. JamManager also lets you quickly create custom loop JamLists to take to your gig.

The DigiTech JamMan Delay/Looper is a powerful stereo delay with 3 fully programmable preset memories that can be recalled instantly via dedicated footswitches. A palette of 8 delay types offers tremendous flexibility in crafting virtually any delay sound. With 16 seconds of delay time, a tap tempo footswitch, and full morphing of the delay controls via the expression input, the DigiTech JamMan Delay is in a class all its own.

An improved-upon looper

By Jon

from St. Paul, MN.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I recently ordered this unit and am happy with my purchase. My floorboard is almost exclusively MXR with the exception of this looper. I also own the previous version with the flapper-style Boss footswitches, the Jamman. This unit is better because of the snappy vacuum footswitches and the added delays. I was not happy with the older style of switches because they do not always engage correctly. This unit is built much better. The delays are pretty good. My favorite delay pedal is the MXR Carbon Copy and this looper unit is close second. It does have more delay types available and they are very clean, but not strident. If you have ever tried a Boss DD-20 (which I also own) it comes close sound-wise. They are digital delays which tend to be clean but sometimes lack the warmth of a true analog delay. These are about as good as it gets if you edit them to your taste, for example adding a little warble or dirt. You can edit the delays to give more personality but I still like the Carbon Copy a little better. I also believe that a musician might need a digital delay AND an analog delay for different styles of music. Since I play on different recordings I need to have some variety available. Musicians that are loopers often use a delay with a looper to help fill out the sound space and also help with keeping tempo. These two concepts, delay and looper work together very well. I could see this also being used for entire backing tracks as it is a stereo unit with hours of memory. I heard someone complain that it does not have MIDI but this is of no concern to me as I do not need that feature. The unit features several beats to help you keep time but I will not use these very much. It would be nice to have a larger variety of beats available but they had to stop somewhere I guess. For the price this is a killer looper and the switches should last longer than on the former model, the Jamman. One last note, the ten preset loops are awful, go make your own loops and you will be much happier.

Great Buy

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Having owned (and returned) the Boss RC2xl and the Boss RC5 (great buy but too expensive), I finally settled on the old model Digitech Jamman, which is basically the Boss RC2xl, and I added an external foot switch to select a loop up/down. I upgraded when this new Jamman delay came out and I can say it is flawless. The pedals are much better and more responsive than the flapper kind. The integrated delay is awesome and really adds fullness to an acoustic guitar. You can even save/store the loop real time while it's playing! A small detail, but needed if you want to lay down more than one loop live and rotate through them using the up/down loop select. Go buy it!!!

Jam Man Delay it's a WINNER

By Roger Morton

from St Petersburg, FL

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Imagine my shock...the instruction booket was printed in the US of A...turning this monster over there was another surprise. The unit itself in made in the US of A according to the sticker on the bottom!!! My dad almost fell over. This is an extremely well made piece of gear, think military equipment grade.I have only had it for a few hours but with a minimum of fuss I've made an initial loop, figured out the delays and some of the teaking factors, played with an expression pedal, cycled through the optional footswitch functions and put in a large SDHC Card (16G HP) formated it and I'm floored. This is going to take some serious study to reap the benefits of all it's capable of. The delays are EXCELLENT and the loops are dynamite...this is a high quality product and it is definately up to what I expected from it and far, far more. The audio quality is superb, it sounds terrific into a tube amp...I expect it will dazzle into a digital recorder. Haven't played with effects on the front end of it yet, but...that is for tomorrow I gotta get some sleep tonight LOL. The drums that are programmed into it are a nice feature and are useable as they are...have loaded the Librarian into my computer but not the Jam Man...yet. This thing is so feature laden it just boggles the mind, I fear I will become a hermit for the next week or so. The extra money is well spent from the Jam Man Stereo or Solo for me...I suppose it depends on your needs...definately download and read the manuals from Digitech before plunging in unaware of the differences between the three as they are considerablely different in their capabilities and features.I am totally digging this thing.

I should have got a looper a long time ago

By Nick Niverson

from McCordsville, Indiana

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have only had the Jamman Delay for a couple weeks or so... but I can tell you that I should have bought one a long time ago... It's sooo easy to lay down a riff/chord progression and start soloing over it... I guarantee I would know my scales a lot better if I would have bought one of these 5 years ago... One tricky thing for me was that I had to use my parallel effects loop to get my amp sound to be recorded (Mesa Triple Rectifier half stack)... However, if you just run a bunch of pedals in series... you can just throw it in your signal chain...too (it's built to go either way) I have been playing drums for about 12 years and guitar for about 13... so I can lay down a loop or 2 .... and then go sit on the drums and come up with something there... It is going to speed up the song writing process a lot... which is awesome because that will enable me to spend more time on each instruments part... Supposedly, according to the manual, it looks like the Jamman should keep your left and right inputs separate as part of the recording processۡ_ Soۡ_ what Iۡm very anxious to try outۡ_ is to simply play the bass part on the right INPUTۡ_ and send the right OUTPUT to a separate ampۡ_ and then use the left channel for guitar stuffۡ_ or possibly even record a left part AND a right guitar partۡ_ (for those of you non-recording buffsۡ_ stereo guitar setups sound HUGEۡ_ ) by plugging and unplugging stuff (which would be cool if I had a switch to make that easierۡ_ any how Iۡm dreaminۡ and scheminۡ hereۡ_)ۡ_ so basicallyۡ_ if you play and record all the instruments.. you could basically use the looper to sound as full as an entire 4 piece bandۡ_(or N-piece bandۡ_ for that matter) !!! ۡ_. I will mention that I was really close to getting the Boomerang ۡ_ but I decided that the ability to save my loops was the selling point for me w/ the jammanۡ_ and so farۡ_ I couldnۡt be happierۡ_ One disclaimer thoughۡ_ once you start playingۡ_ itۡs hard to put the guitar downۡ_ it has become a time black-holeۡ_ :)
