Overview

The DigiTech HardWire DL-8 is a delay and looper effect pedal that features stereo I/O with selectable tails and a choice of 11 delay types. Among the delays you can configure with the DL-8 are Analog, Lo-Fi, Tape, and Reverse. The DigiTech DL-8 pedal also provides up to 8 seconds of delay and 20 seconds of looping as well as functions like tap-tempo and more.

DigiTech HardWire pedals represent a commitment to quality and attention to subtle details. In addition to technical enhancements like true bypass and high voltage operation, all DigiTech HardWire guitar pedals feature rugged, all-metal construction, a wide, stage-stable footprint, durable, custom-machined metal knobs for a sure grip, and precision potentiometers that guarantee knob positions will stay intact.

The rugged, durable construction of DigiTech Extreme Performance Pedals is just the beginning. Inside each HardWire guitar pedal are technological features that serious players require - all updated and improved to their utmost capacity. True bypass preserves the purity of your original tone as signal passes through the pedal, and high voltage operation further protects your sound by eliminating clipping and other signal degradation caused by power drain.

With the high-output pickups found on some electric guitars, it's not unusual to hear clipping when playing through an effects pedal. This occurs when the voltage range produced by an electric guitar's pickup is greater than the operating voltage of the effects pedal, normally limited to the voltage supplied by the effect's battery or power supply. DigiTech HardWire pedals incorporate circuitry that increases the operating voltage headroom above that of the typical pedal. That means the HardWire DL-8 delay looper pedal can work with a wider range of guitars and is also at home in your amplifier's effects loop.

HardWire Pedals include the following stage accessories:
Stomplockā„¢ knob guard locks your tone in place and prevent tampering or accidental knob adjustments onstage

    sweet.

    By Kevin

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

sweet pedal. i was utilizing three of the Line6 DL-4 models but since this pedal came out i switched to three of these and one DL-4. the looping system is so much less complicated and it's live looping capabilities take the down time in between songs where i have to play and record all of my loops completely away. the digital delay usually works as good as any competitor and the reverse, tape and analog settings are wonderful compared to the other pedals attempting these features. i highly recommend.

no tone change with this one

    By rds

    from memphis

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

hey. just wanted to let anyone know who is looking for a delay that this one is worthy. i had a boss dd3 and it changed the tone of my signal when not engaged. i did not like that at all. you may not know it but most pedals are adding a buffer even when not engaged that changes your signal for the worse. this takes away a small bit of treble and balls from the signal. unplug all your pedals and go straight into the amp with a cord thats not 30 feet long, under 20 preferably. and you will hear a difference when you compare the pedaled rig and without pedals. the digitech delay has true bypass so when unengaged it does not shape the signal. i bought it just for this and it sounds pretty good as well. good features. i am happy with it. dont buy the boss product unless you want a different signal reaching the amp. i rum a 100 watt tube head and play a les paul. i could hear the difference with the other pedals that add buffer right away. dunlop and vox wah's all do this. i will be modifying mine next.

    Niiice!!!!

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal today... I chose this one over the boss loop pedal because its not only a loop pedal its a delay pedal and cheaper. digitechs new line hardwire is really impressive... the only complaint is it needs more loop time but it is really easy to use compared to the boss loop pedal.

    Perfection !

    By Steve

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was torn between the DL-8 and the Electro Harmonix Delux Memory Man. I tried the Delux Memory Man and then the DL-8, I was shock at how much better the DL-8 is. The DL-8 is far more versatile and even the analog delay is superior for HALF THE PRICE of the Memory Man.

    Looks, feels and sounds awesome!

    By BVK

    from Oswego, IL

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just got my DL8 in the mail yesterday, so this review is based on first impressions... This is a ridiculously well-built little unit; the pictures barely do it justice. The pots are very solid, and feel like they could take a lifetime of abuse. The Delays sound awesome, and the "Low Fi" and "Modulated" settings sound GORGEOUS. The "Reverse" setting seems like a bit of a novelty, but to be honest, I screwed around with that setting for about an hour and created some neat "wall-of-sound" effects with it... so this might actually be a useful setting after all! My original thought was to run this through my FX loop and mount this on top of my amp so that I could tweak the settings on the fly (the preset names are printed in the tiniest possible font, but there are a LOT of presets jammed into a very small space.) But after playing with the very user-friendly loop & the tap tempo features, this may up on my pedalboard after all! Looks, feels and sounds awesome! Can't wait to gig with it!

    Great Delay

    By MR. C

    from PA

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal can create warm long lasting analog delay, a more echo breakup sounding delay, and a true digital delay tone for more modern sounds. The delay times are easy to manipulate, and can be quite short or VERY long. Being a fan of analog delay, it is nice to have more control over the amount of time between repeats which isn't the case with most analog delay pedals. With this pedal you can meticulously sculp you delay time and tone. The tails switch is great. You can turn the delay off at the end of a solo for example, and the repeats fade out OVER TOP your playing. Making transition to rhythm parts smooth and professional sounding! This is a plus if you are the only guitarist in your band. I've owned this pedal for well over a year and it's been played out several times. It's built to last and it's staying on my board.

    Great delay, decent looper...

    By Nick

    from Camp Hill, PA

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal a few months ago, and so far am happy with my purchase. There are plenty of features to be had here, and my personal favorites are the slapback, tape delay and looper. The modified, lo-fi and analog delays sound great, and are good if you want a sound that will fall back in the mix and not distract from your playing. Another nice feature is the tap tempo, making it possible to sync your loop the way you want it along with a drummer or rhythm track without bending over to mess with the knob. The feature that really blew my mind on this pedal is running the delay in stereo. It is defaulted to a ping pong delay and sounds huge. I think to fully appreciate it, you have to set it up for stereo operation. The looper is fun to use if you're a one man band type, or if you want to make a loop on the fly to solo over if you're a single guitarist within a group. The only down side is that the looper's timing is a little tricky, and it might take some practice and a couple of tries to get the rhythm of the loop just right. I think it's been said before, but a dedicated looper might be a better choice if you rely heavily on loops for your performance. for a simple loop or for making your own backing track to jam over, it's just fine. Physically, the pedal is a rock and I doubt it will break any time soon. I use a wall adapter in the pedal, so can't say anything about battery life. The only thing i would prefer is a pluger type engage switch, rather than a rocking switch. the rocking switch is connected to a heavy piece of rubber that presses a button inside of the pedal, and i anticipate that will wear out one day. In all, this is a great choice for a versatile delay pedal and i think anyone could find more than enough useful applications for it.

    Solid Pedal

    By Arthur

    from Manasquan, NJ

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is the best bang for its buck no doubt. Tons of ways to tweak the delay and the true bypass works well. The looping system is great for practicing soloing over a jazz or alternative rock riff. The design is rugged, and even comes with a cover for the knobs so you don't kick them by accident. If your looking for an efficient pedal that loops and gives great delay look no further. This product is top of the line.

Good pedal but watch the knobs.

    By Michael

    from San Diego, Ca

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I questioned this pedal when I found out it came from Digitech, I've owned several pedals from them before and I've been let down; but this pedal was a nice surprise. It feels solid, the features are awesome, and it sounds great. But a word of caution. Those knobs are glued on. Right out of the box my 'Module' knob was unglued and freely rotating around the knob itself.

    Pretty great...

    By Bopper

    from Fall River, MA

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

What everyone says is true: good variety of effects, all of which sound awesome and don't really skew your dry sound. Pretty great. The only thing keeping this pedal from being perfect is that depending on the effect type the level adjustment doesn't let you go totally wet, except that in Reverse mode the sound is only wet and you can't blend your dry sound at all. Still, an awesome pedal capable of real subtlety.

Great pedal, but if it needs fixed under warranty you could be out of luck.

    By Dakota Swanson

    from Central Florida

Comments about Digitech HardWire DL-8 Delay/Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This was a great pedal when I first bought it. Loved it! No change in tone and I could get all the sounds I wanted out of it. The looper feature is awesome and very useful to me. A few months later though, apart from the looper, half the settings were stuck on "reverse" and the other half were "modulated." Both settings only play back the delay about a minute later now also. Never dropped it or even gigged it and I used the recommended power supply. I sent it to Digitech twice to have it repaired under warranty and both times the same employee sent it back saying "no problem with the unit." Their is absolutely, 100% a problem with the pedal that's so obvious I can't imagine how he didn't hear anything off about. The employees at two different local guitar centers agreed and said it was obviously broken and covered under warranty so I should send it in. Called Digitech a third time when it arrived back the second time, got the same employee, tried to politely explain the problem again, he was rude and I'm out of luck. Since this is my second Hardwire delay I can honestly say it's a great pedal so I'm still giving it four stars. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I felt I could send it in and have it fixed under warranty if their was a problem with it. I don't think I'm going to take that chance though.
