Overview

The DigiTech Death Metal Distortion Pedal gives you the most extreme distortion you will ever hear. Simply put, the gain is turned up to eleven and then the knob is ripped off. Level, Low, Mid, and High tone controls provide flexible tone shaping so even though the distortion is over the top, your guitar is guaranteed to slice through. Low, Mid, and High tone controls give you the flexibility to boost or cut the bass, middle, and treble frequencies and the Level knob boosts the output level of your signal. An Amp output goes to your amplifier and the dedicated Mixer output has a cabinet emulation circuit that lets you run direct into a mixer or recorder when you don't want to lug your amp along.

The Digitech Death metal distortion is a decent distortion stompbox for early players still searching for their sound. The only real complaint I have is that the tone that is produced by this box sounds roughly like 3 distortions going at once through an amp that is in a giant tin box. The 3 tone controls and 1 level knobs do little to alter the overall tone. Overall a good pedal if you like an untamed sound, but for a tighter sound I'd stick with an amp's distortion capped with some overdrive for leads. The construction is great and road-worthy, but the tone leaves one wanting more.

Good Pedal

By DeanGuitars180

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This a very great pedal for death metal. I bought it about a week ago or less. I hadn't tried it out but when i did at home it sounds great. The only thing i dont like is the massive amount of feed back and it sounds alittle to fuzzy. Other than that its a pretty good pedal

Heavy

By Vash 08

from Marion, OH

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This thing can get quite a few different sounds out of it. All of them, extremely heavy. The only problem i have with this pedal is when it comes to soloing. The notes kind of slur together, and it doesn't sound as good. But other than that, if you play rythm in a metal band, this is for you, if you play lead, and can switch to another effect for solos, then this will handle everything else for you.

Its alright,

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Its a Decent Pedal. Its ok if you have maybe a clean part of a song. But in Death Metal thats not very rare. You can get the same sound from your amp. If you use this pedal with one or two other effect pedals you can get some good sound. But if you want distortion and a good chunky sound. Just mess with your settings on your amp. You will get a good sound and it could save u a few bucks.

I LIKE IT

By Dave

from Apple Valley, Ca.

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I picked up this pedal at GC a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with my guitar all over again. GC let me check the sound on every pedal I was interested in. I looked at the GRUNGE by DIGITECH. It has the same features as the DEATH-METAL, but not as chunky. It took just a short time to produce the sounds I like. It's SUPER CHUNKY. I don't even come close to cranking the knobs all the way up, at least to get the sound I want. I Play through a peavey 112 combo while using a dual humbucker guitar, and a little 15 watt practice amp. It doesn't matter which amp I use, the feedback is pretty bad when ever I stop playing and take my fingers off of the strings. So I just turn down the volume knob on the guitar when I need a little break, and problem solved. By the way, this was not a problem at GC when I first tested the pedal through a raven amp. So I think maybee the feedback is due to my amps being rather old. The only bad thing I can say about this pedal is that it doesn't come with a power adapter. Yes it can be purchased, but I think it should be included with the pedal. I had about 20 hrs on the batt, and it was still working fine, until I forgot to unplug the cables after I was done jammin-out. That means a dead batt in no time. Its a bit annoying. So thats why 4 out of 5 stars. All in all, I would buy it again - with the power adapter - of course. I hope this review was helpful.

Amazing Pedal!

By Marco

from Troy, MI

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This was one of the first pedals that I ever got and it still sounds amazing. I have a bad tendancy to be pretty rough on my gear and most other pedals actually broken in a month or two. this has lasted about 6 months of being stomped on by a metal-plated biker boot and there isn't a dent on it yet! also, out of the dozens of distortion pedals I've used, this is the best sounding by far. I would honestly pay double the price for this pedal. its the best one I've been able to find for one of the lowest prices I've been able to find!

Death Metal Distortion- eh.

By epiphone105

from Collegeville, PA

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Eh. its an okay pedal. I really don't need all of that distortion. The good thing about it is that you can make up your own very metal tone within the pedal. Otherwise no one needs this much distortion. It sound fake and too processed, I want a real tone, not somthing fake. If you like an insane amount of distortion, get this pedal, otherwise don't bother.

Digitech Death Metal Pedal

By R4x2

from Kansas City

Comments about Digitech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is probably the best distortion you can get for the price. I personally think it's the perfect amount of distortion when you play metal, I really love this pedal for recording. I used to just plug my guitar into the pedal, and run a cable from the amp model output, straight into the input of my computer and record. It gives a nice necro sound if you blast treble, and only use a little bass, with the distortion and volume turned all the way up.
