This thing has a lot of cool sounds. It's also really easy to use and hook up. The only problem that I have really is that you have to "scroll" to every sound. there isn't a quick choice to different sounds. That can be really frustrating. All in all, it's not a bad product. Eventually I'll upgrade to a line 6 bass pod or a Boss. Both are $399.

Got this mainly for the compression, which worked ok. The unit is cheaply made from plastic, and the sounds are a bit fake sounding through an amp. It seems to produce a hiss when not playing. I took mine back. but for the money, it could be of some use I guess. Maybe if you are recording with it. It does have a pretty good amp emulation. Other than that, its your call. I'm thinking of getting the Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver and the Boss LMB-3.

A decent pedal

By Jeff

from Bayport, NY

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

Ive had this pedal for about 6 years, and it's finally bit the dust. For the amount of money you're paying for this, it's great, especially if you're a beginner. For live shows, i wouldn't recommend it, since switching between patches is pretty difficult/annoying. It is however better for recording purposes. Some of the effects aren't that great, but it has good wah, delay, reverb, and the noise gate and compressor are awesome too. making the patches is a hassle, another reason it's not good for live shows, cause if you wanna make a quick adjustment, lol you're screwed. But overall, I would recommend this for beginners. It's great for learning about the different effects. If you keep up the instrument, you will definitely want to upgrade in the future, in which case I would recommend the ME-50B.

Good all around effects pedal

By Sombra Lobo

from Hastings, MI

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

I got my BP80 around two or three weeks ago and I love it. It has a bunch of effects that any bass player on a limited budget needs. The thing I recommend when using the BP80 is to not have an amp modeling effect on while plugged into an amp. The stomp boxes work well with an amp and don't need to be tweaked with all that much. If you're recording, this is great because of all the affects. The reverb is especially sweet with headphones on because the church setting sounds like you are in a church, and with the combination of delay and the spring (underground hot spring) it sounds like you're playing in a cave. Good for limited budget bass players, as I've said, because I'm one myself and this is all you really need, unless of course you step it up to the BP200.

Reliable!

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

I've had this pedal for 4 years and i've never needed another. Although its a lower end multi-effects processor, its versatile and reliable in any situation. (Tuner,Drum Machine, Metrenome, Amp Models, Effects, Wah and Volume Control) Its all there I could get something better but I don't see the point this is the most helpful acessory i own for bass!!

awesome... if you know how to use it.

By Adam G.

from Tennessee

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

I first went into the store to get a distortion pedal, but I came out with this. For the price, it's awesome, especially since it includes tons of amp models, wahwah effects, fretless effects, etc. One of the things I don't like too much about it is the distortion. On the amp model settings you can choose how much gain to use, but it is hard to get a heavy distortion without overpowering the tone of the bass. The distortion is great in standard tuning, but as soon as you tune it down to B it gets sloppy sounding. The other effects are great though! I especially use the whammy effect with some high gain on which makes for a good effect. It includes 80 presets, but unfortunately, you can only program the first 39 or 40. If you play around with it you can get some really get effects going. Overall, I'd reccomend this as a good buy.

Great for guitar too!

By ScreamsOfTheFallen

from Ephrata, PA

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

I was kind of hesitant buying this at first, but when I ran my Ibanez RG and Boss MT-2 into it, I was amazed. It pretty much eliminates the need for all the extra pedals (mainly delay, whammy, wah, and reverb) and still gives me that low-pitched metal sound. Plus the built in noise gate is a lifesaver, it eliminates nearly all of the excess static from my distortion pedal. Other than the fact that it takes a while to program all the custom effects (took me a few hours) and switching effects in mid-riff is a bit tricky, this was one of the best investments i've made.

Disappointed...

By Gramps

from Canton, GA

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

The pedal was a disappointment in that it offers a multitude of sounds, but I couldn't get the growly, raunching sound I was hoping for. After spending quite a bit of time modeling sounds and cabinets, my favorite feature is the tuner...

many ups and downs with the BP80, more ups by far tho.

By the warlord of crunch

from Morristown, TN

Comments about Digitech BP80 Bass Multi-Effect Pedal:

this was my first effect pedal for bass that i ever purchased and i loved it then as do i now. you can get some great tones from this thing, like mixing chorus with distortion stompbox modeling for a rich creamy bassy crunch. i even found a way to make my Washburn 4 string sound like a 12 string bass (im a HUGE Kings X fan so i was stoked about that!) you can get a nice simple bass wah as well and along with every cabinet modeling u could want all built into it. but what i like the most is the 3.5mm headphone jack for late night practice or when ur amp is in the shop for goin a little TOO hard...anyway if you like to mix and creat bass tones or just want a blend of amazing bass tones without buying a bunch of different stompboxes, this is your pedal!
