  • for the money its great

As reviewed by Justin Queen on 7/5/2009

this is the first wireless system i have owned and it actually is not that bad for the price cause i was able to walk around 200 ft away from the system and i could still hear it although there was a lag between the notes but it is really good after you set it up but the only negative is that it can pick up frequencies that are not from the guitar which can be really loud but set it up right and it works perfect

  • Durable

As reviewed by Bill Kraemer on 2/2/2011

back in '09 i purchaced the cheapest wireless system that i could. it was the low end nady wireless. i bought the guitar one for me, the bass one for my bassist and the vocal one. they all died within 2 months. Guitarcenter ran out of the nady system that we bought, so my other guitarist spent $30 more on the DR1500. his is still working despite the thorough beating we have given it and very well with that. I purchased one the other day and am pleased with it. the sound quality is very marginally worse than a cable, but its worth it for the freedom. if you turn down the receiver output volume to about 75 - 80 % there is no cut out at all, even with the crazy metal chords that we do. there is no on/off switch on the receiver end and you have to unplug it if you want to turn it off, so it loses a star for this. other than that annoyance, it is a great system and is highly recommended. PS: the picture is wrong, that's the DR1000.

  • Not For A Five- String Bass!

As reviewed by Joe V on 5/9/2011

With their own rating of frequency response at: 80 Hz to 13 kHz, this will lose response at a normally open E and a few notes above that on a four string bass which is running from 40 Hz and up. Although it hurts to reproduce the fundamentals of the lower notes, it CAN get a decent note from the low freqs - somehow. On a Five-r with a low B - no way! Range is quite good and battery life seems to be decent enough - so no problems there. I can get about 40 yards away and still no drop-outs. There is a Volume control(GAIN?)behind the receiver that responds very well, although I usually run it at 12 o'clock all the time and let the amp or guitar VOL controls take over. I suspect the transmitter case is gonna be the weak spot as it seems pretty light weight and can get damaged easily enough. I wish that the input jack from the guitar was a 90?, but I can live with the straight plug. The belt clip is very substantial though - so I don't think this will be a problem. Somehow the input jack to the transmitter holds itself in, although I don't see how. The ring around the jack just turns and turns and never seems to get snug or stop in a locked position. I dunno and I don't see any screw threads or a cam-lock - it just stays in somehow. I own some other DR gear and have come to expect and get great reliability and performance from them - we'll see if it works out the same way with this or not. BTW: You can run a mic through this unit too if you have the correct adapters to go from a 1/4" double male to an XLR. I use it this way quite a bit and it's just fine with it. I'd like to see a rack mount-type unit like this too - maybe I can cobble up some mounting ears for it later on. On the face there are three LEDs that tell you if it's ON, RECEIVING A SIGNAL and PEAK and therefor CLIPPING. Nice touch! The transmitter has another LED that tells you when it's ON and it has a three position slide switch that give you OFF-QUIET MODE-BROADCAST. You can use the quiet mode to change guitars and not make a lot of noise through the amp this way. Another nice touch! The dipole antennas are nice and they look seriously hefty enough to last a long time if you don't use the receiver in a bar fight.
