M-Audio Nova Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic
Using manufacturing breakthroughs pioneered in M-Audio's popular Luna and Solaris, the Nova cardioid condenser microphone redefines the entry-level price point for quality studio condenser microphones. The 1-1/10" evaporated gold diaphragm mounted in a solid brass capsule ensures recordings that are faithful to the source, and the Class A solid state electronics are engineered for low noise, distortion and coloration. The Nova microphone package includes mic cable, hardmount and soft case.
The Nova requires phantom power.
M-Audio Studiophile AV-40 Monitor SpeakersThe compact Studiophile AV 40 powered reference monitors deliver the same proven M-Audio technology favored by top producers, recording engineers and musicians around the world. The combination of 4" polypropylene-coated drivers and 3/4" ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters provides punchy lows, crisp highs and a balanced, uncolored response. Custom cabinets with dense wood construction deliver more accurate bass response than you could ever get from plastic multimedia speakers. And for the highest possible fidelity, the Studiophile AV 40 monitors also feature OptImage III wave-guide technology and a 20 watt-per-channel internal amplifier that uses Class A/B architecture. The Studiophile AV 40 monitor speakers are the perfect solution for traveling musicians or anyone who wants top-notch sound from their desktop multimedia system.
Professional Components—Professional Results
The Studiophile AV40 monitors are designed with the same quality materials and internal electronics that are used in all of M-Audio's acclaimed professional monitors. You'll find features like audiophile-grade Class A/B amplifier architecture and balanced 1/4" TRS inputs in addition to RCAs. It all adds up to a big sound that belies the speakers' small size. With the Studiophile AV40s, you don't have to give up professional-grade fidelity to enjoy the ease and mobility of a compact monitoring system.
Extended Low End
If you require extra bass response, the M-Audio Studiophile AV40 monitors have you covered. MDF wooden cabinets, bass reflex design and an integrated bass boost switch let the Studiophile AV40s crank out plenty of low end—perfect for urban/dance music, DVDs and more.
OptImage III Technology
M-Audio's proprietary OptImage III wave guide improves overall detail and clarity while minimizing sound issues that can plague other compact monitors. The system works by improving the overall efficiency of the tweeter as well as time-aligning the drivers. This ensures that the audio from each driver reaches the listener at the same time, guaranteeing precise stereo imaging and accurate response.
Magnetically Shielded for Desktop Use
Unchecked, all speakers emit electromagnetic waves that can wreak havoc with your computer's video monitor or a nearby TV. The Studiophile AV40 monitors are magnetically shielded so that all of your electronic equipment can coexist on your desktop without interference.

As a newbie to computer recording- I researched software and interfaces. This package was my early Christmas present for myself and was able to buy on a great holiday deal. I was up and running with the hardware and Apple's Garageband the first evening, but I'm still waiting for Protools to release updates for Snow Leopard..sigh... I can be patient, because I know Protools is worth the wait.
I bought this recording package last year during November and there was a good learning curve for first using pro tools. This package will probably get knocked off the shelf soon due to its 3rd generation successor. The software operates well if you have more than enough processing power for your computer, otherwise it will be slow more than half the time and occasional not respond if you run too many plug ins. The Mbox 2 interfaceis decent but not the best quality of mic preamps. There were random times when i loaded sessions in the past and the mic preamps introduced alot of distortion and clipped alot when arming tracks to record the only way to get around that is to shut down pro tools and load it back up again (a very annoying process). The monitors are decent for recording but are terrible for equing, compressing, and mixing accurately. The AV40s are better suited for music with with beats and electronica, they're terrible for equing tightly distorted guitars accurately because the mid range is not to accurate. These monitors are not made to well for rock or metal i'm doomed to say but they get the job done. Overall this is a decent recording package. I would recomend upgrading the monitors to something more up the line; i.e. genelec 1032A or 1037C, Bowers & Wilkins, adam audio, jbl, and yamaha.
This is a lot of stuff and a very good value for the money, however depending on what you need to do with digital audio, I wouldn't highly recommend it. Now that PT9 is out, you don't need an interface, just an iLok. If you are getting this for the software and do a lot of midi editing or digital audio editing, this is not such a good deal because the interface is almost pointless. If you just want to record with a mic or DI it's still not really worth it because the preamps are less than mediocre and the latency is huge. Over all it is not such a bad deal because you get so much but in my opinion, there are better ways to setup a project studio that will render you higher quality audio.
