A Home Recording Necessity
If you're serious about capturing your sound the Digidesign 002 is the way to go. Upfront it carries a heafty price tag, but if you want to achieve the highest home recording quality this is the way to go. I highly recommmend watching the instructional dvd before you get started recording. And before diving in and purchasing the unit make sure you're computer can handle the digidesign 002 and ProTools software pack by visiting digidesign's website. This is a serious investment in your music, but who doesn't take their own music seriously?

Good Hardware Interface for those with $
Well, it certainly presses the price i want to pay for an (essentially) 8 channel soundcard. Nice hardware interface and good sounding convertors and a satisfyingly large pricetag put this in the upper reange in terms of cost for a soundcard. The plesant environment of LE and a DAW hardware interface, however, is the real treat here. Makes it easier to spend time mixing and recording. Unfortunately, there still exists all the drawbacks the more expensive TDm system addresses. Sad to spend 2000.00 on a soundcard, and then spend hours dealing with latency, firewire issues, clicks, pops, and everything else that goes with ANY ASIO soundcard.

The home study in a box!
When it comes to digital recording there is nothing better than Pro Tools!! It is the perfect toolfor everything: recording, MIDI, mixing, and mastering. It is the true all-around roduction tool for personal, home studios! It is not too hard to catch on to for beginners, just requiring a little playing around with. The plug-ins are pretty awesome too! Overall it is a great bundle, even if it might be a little steep in the price range for starving musicians.

Using LE Need your hands on a fader?
If you are going to use Pro Tools LE and you have to have your hands on the knobs, faders and buttons, this is the way to go. You will find that will some time spent on this tool you will greatly increase your work flow as well as your ability to control PTLE.
