Overview

The Digitech iPB-10 Programmable Pedalboard with iPad Integration sets a new standard for guitar signal processing. By harnessing the power of the iPad®, it combines the simplicity of a pedalboard with the flexibility of a multi-effects. The iPB-10 unleashes the ability to create and control guitar effects like never before. (iPad® not included).

Pedalboard Simplicity
The iPB-10 allows you to create your ultimate pedalboard, all on your iPad. Design a pedalboard by simply dragging and dropping up to 10 different pedals, in any order, to each pedalboard. You can even add an amp and cabinet to each setup. With 87 different pedals, 54 amps, and 26 cabinets to choose from, your options are virtually unlimited. Simply swipe your finger across the iPad to rearrange your pedals, turn them on and off, or to adjust their knobs.

Multi-effects Flexibility
Traditional multi-effects have given you the flexibility to change the entire configuration of your signal chain with a single footswitch. The iPB-10 brings the concept of presets to a pedalboard. This allows you to save 100 of your favorite pedalboards with the touch or your finger, and instantly recall them with the stomp of your foot. You can have a different pedalboard for each gig, set, song, or even switch pedalboards within a song.

Once you experience the flexibility of the iPB-10 Programmable Pedalboard with its drag and drop design, you will change the way you think about guitar effects forever.

iPB-Nexus App for iPad
The iPB-Nexus app is the perfect way to build and control your pedalboard. Using the simple and intuitive touch screen controls of the iPad, iPB-Nexus makes designing your setup for the iPB-10 Programmable Pedal board easy. Add, arrange, and adjust your pedals with a few simple gestures of your finger.

Drag and Drop Pedalboard Builder
The iPB-Nexus app for the iPad gives you touch screen control of your pedals, amps, and cabinets. Simply drag and drop your choice of 87 different pedals to your pedalboard. Select an amp and a cabinet to make your setup complete. Using the iPB-Nexus app to control your iPB-10, it’s never been easier to explore your tone and find just the right sound.

My Tones Library
The iPB-Nexus app includes the My Tones library where you store, organize, and rate all your favorite presets. My Tones allows you to store an unlimited number of presets and group them any way you want. For example, you can make preset lists for certain sets or specific music genres. This makes setting up before a show a snap. With My Tones, you can have a different pedalboard for each gig, set, song, or even switch pedalboards within a song.

Real-Time Pedalboard View
Running the iPB-Nexus app on the iPad offers a stunningly clear display of your entire pedalboard. You get a real-time view of your pedals, amp, and cabinet. You can easily and quickly see if a pedal is on or off, where its knobs are set, and which footswitch it is assigned to. With the iPB-Nexus real-time pedalboard view, you can take your mind off your gear and focus on your sound, the crowd, and your performance.

I am in a band and have been using an amp and cab combo. We made a decision for all of us to go through our mixing board. I was happy with the idea since the amp and cab are so heavy and bulky to move around. I was concerned with losing the tone of my analog pedals. I bought the unit last night 10 minutes before GC closed. I brought it home and after only a couple of hours of tinkering with it this afternoon, I used it tonight at our rehearsal with ZERO issues; no crashes, etc. It worked flawlessly. I am looking forward to exploring it in much more detail. This unit will be a huge asset to me and our band.

Very cool but, right out of the box you must either have or purchase seperately a USB cable and connect pedelboard to computer and update firmware. Not hard to do but not expected on a BRAND NEW line of pedelboards... That aside, now for the real issue... CRASHES... In the first 30 min of use ipb software app crashed no less than 5 times... This is UNACCEPTABLE!!! At this point I could not even entertain the thought of gigging with such unreliability. I will spend the next few days working with it and seeing if there is any improvement... If not, its going right back to GC. As far as price... it's a bit steep being that you are supplying the "brain" half of the whole unit (to be fair tho the app is free and supposedly only works with people who own an ipb10). Very solid pedal board. Very well made and tons of output options... But I'm not quite sure that justifies the price. DIGITECH... You need to release an UPDATE A.S.A.P. to address these crashes or you are going to have alot of units returned. Without the crashes being fixed, this will be the most expensive PRACTICE pedalboard you own. I took one star off for app crashing and one star off for price... Update app and drop price and this will no doubt be the hottest board out there and easily cruise 5 stars. And remember... Dont take life too seriously... You'll never get out alive!

Endless options

By ERIC WETMORE

from Troy New York

I usually don't write reviews - but - I was looking at this pedal beacause I already have an iPad - great tool for musicians btw. I read a review saying the Line 6 unit was just as good if not better... so I gave that a go.. I returned the Line 6 unit in a week. There is no comparison between the two. Once I got the digitech unit it was immediatley clear the unit was head and shoulders above the Line 6 product. Sounds great - easy to change between patches - easy to program... I can't say enough about it.

Great Product

By Michael Sutton

from La Quinta, CA

I as millions of others already owned an IPad so it was no big deal to look into the IPB-10. I have had the IPB-10 for about a month and have found it to be very easy to use and customize. It sounds great and has many variations, combinations, at your fingertips (or foot depending on preference). I have played the RPG-500 and will respectfully disagree with the other comment that stated that the RPG 500 sounded better. No way!! I have had zero issues with the IPad crashing, and find that once I have created a couple of favorite pedal boards, I don't even insert the iPad as I know what banks contain my favorite tones! This is an amazing tool and I would suggest it to anyone already owning an IPad as it is much more intuitive to use. It is very much like having a multitude of effects, amps, and Cab's at your disposal to creat your dream pedal board! Only negative is that I think it sounds much better through a PA than through my tube amp. It sounds absolutely killer through a PA, and only just awesome through the amp.

Overall....Really Good

By Kirk Hillquist

from Minneapolis, MN

I was nervous, but decided to bite the bullet and dig in to this effect pedal. Main reason - I love the iPad interface. Anyone who complains about needing to buy an iPad to use this board is clearly looking at the wrong board. Digitech makes one very similar that doesn't need it. However, if you have an iPad, this thing is pretty much the shizzle. Many of the presets are pretty heavy/gainy, but are so very easily dialed back with the iPad interface. It's as simple as using a physical pedal, not knobs/switches/bad readouts. It's very, very easy. Yes, I too was ticked that I needed to update it for the iPad 2 and had to wait until the next day to get a cable (why they don't supply one is beyond me). But, since then, I have had NO issues with it. It works. Doesn't lock up. Has tons of flexibilty. Runs great through an amp or direct to the board (I've played live both ways). The ability to go strait to the board is great, as I play live in smaller situations, and not having to rely (or bring) on my amp is great. Overall, I would give it 5 stars, but was mad about the cable, and it does have a bit of delay when switching between presets. Also, it can be challenging to get all the presets in the same back to switch at the same volume level. This can be challenging when playing live without a noise gate or compressor on the board. I must say, I really do love this thing!

Great tone with an amazing interface

By Smith Law

from Salt Lake City, UT

I must admit, I was a little skeptical at first but after actually using it, I quickly changed my mind. This thing is amazing. I've used plenty of amp/pedal modeling plugins for my computer and while they work fine, I can never stand using them in real time because of the latency. Now with my ipb-10, I have an interface that I like better than any of the plugins I've used, but with no latency. I absolutely love it. You have to get one!

WOW, HOLY COW! This is Killer!

By Jonni Lightfoot

from South Jordan, Utah

I simply love this unit, it's so easy to program and a breeze to get great sounds! I now take this unit to every gig i do and no longer use an amp. I run right into the mixing board using the stereo XLR outs. Very Low noise, great sounds, has models of pedals that are very hard to find and would cost more then this unit to just get one. The IPB-10 has everything every guitar could ever want!! Do yourself a favor and go check this out...you will be blown away!!!

Compared to the pod...

By Gabe

from GReenfield Indiana

Although it was a good idea, the fact that you first have to own an ipad and that it's already 500 dollars, makes this product kind of ridiculous. i played this for a half hour then went to a pod (hd300) not even an hd500, and it was so much better. the sound quality was a quite noticeable, and if that statement isn't good enough i was with a studio engineer (certified) who completely agrees. this much for something (if you don't have an ipad) that CRASHES!! and doesn't even sound as good as a product (line 6 pod hd300) a third of that price makes me think the company should probably rethink this product. Im sorry , but I honestly do not think this makes sense at all.

Really?

By AMG

from milwaukee wisconsin

After reading the first few reviews,I figured I would voice an opinion...First off, have any of you posted a review on the actual app store? I Doubt, the Devs are looking at your GC reviews.Secondly ,As the tag is a little high, after some tweaking, the unit is pretty reliable thus far. There is a definite memory leak in the app, which does cause it to crash,I spoke with Digitech and they assured me that an update is just around the corner, which adresses that issue plus some bug fixes, which was to be expected. Now after getting some patches stored and getting this thing tweaked it sounds, and works quite well! Its a keeper..

What's going on with the price?

By Pixelshock

from Benton, AR

I played around with one the other night. The unit is nice. But the problem is, it's FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS....and it doesn't come with the iPad. I own an iPad2, but I'm not about to drop half a grand on this thing just to provide an interface for hardware I already own. And that's the general feeling every guitarist has about this gear. There's just no justification for the price tag when the real guts and computing/modeling power is coming from hardware that you already own. For $500 you could literally buy a Line 6 POD HD. The graphical interface/drag and drop pedal effects is crazy cool, but not Boo Koo dollars cool (pedal +iPad). Come on DigiTech...you can do better than this.
