The second you open the box you will notice the durability that comes with most Digitech stomboxes. You could bring this pedal to the mosh pit and back and it would still be in one piece. Once you plug this in you will be overwhelmed with how many different distorted tones you can come up with. Using the X-series morph knob you can choose from crunchy low tones, screaming high tones, and everything in between. Can't get that perfect tone? The instruction manual included with the box give's you many presets such as the DOD and the BOSS metal stombox tones. The Metal Master may be more pricey than your average distortion pedal but you will definetly get your moneys worth. I have owned this pedal for a good four to five years and it's still in good condition, great tone, and no problems what so ever. Even if your not a headbanger the Metal Master can give you the rocking tone you've always wanted!

This is a good pedal for metal and it gives a very heavy sound. I found this pedal doesn't cut as well as other pedals with individual EQ like the Boss Metal Zone or the Marshall Jackhammer. For Riffs, it tends to give a very cut-mid sound, which sounds very heavy but it gives alot of unwanted noise and feedback(especially at high volume) so it would work better with a noise suppressor of some sort. For solos, I would say this pedal is not bad. It can give a very warm distortion sound for solos with the right settings. Overall I recommend this pedal for soloing rather than riffs and you do need a noise suppressor to cut the noise in order to get the full affect.

one of the best metal pedals ever

By James

from gloucester MA

I've had this pedal for over 2 years and i play just about everyday for atleast 2 hours, the batteries die faster than you think so i got the power supply as well (it's only 20 dollars and well worth it). Since i upgraded my amp as well i have found a brutal tone with this pedal, i love this pedal, definetly worth it. This pedal can take a beating too. If you can't get that metal sound that you want from this pedal then the sound you want is impossible to find.

Fantastic

By Jon

from Edina, MN

This thing is amazing, it absolutely beats the competition. Most people think of Boss as having the best pedals, but this beats Boss' Metal Zone, easily. Why? Because it has the sounds producible with the Metal zone, and much more. The "Morph" knob makes it ridiculously versatile, but it's not for the faint of heart - there's no gain knob for a reason. If you're looking for a good pedal that can get you great rock and metal sounds, this is the way to go.

Ehh...

By Colin

Ok... so here's how it really goes this pedal is great... i mean really great if you play metal and hardcore... but if you just want to get a little less distortion, it's imposable I've tried just about everything i can imagine to get this thing a little less but it just keeps on spitting out some crazy distortion. Overall a great pedal, which i love, but if your not into the crazy distortion then i wouldn't get this.

IF YOU WANT METAL YOU GOT IT

By Brian

from New York

Nice pedal,I have been trying to get this sound for many years! I use a Marshall MG-DFX100 amp on the clean channel with my Fender Stratocaster. If you like metal this is the one to get!I can only imagine how crazy the sound would be with a guitar specifically designed for metal.Only one downfall I could find was the battery compartment is kinda tricky to get to as it is under the on/off pedal.I highly recommend this pedal, the morph control is the "beast"! The price is alo pretty good for the awesome metal sound your going to achieve no matter what amp or guitar you have.Smell the Fuzz!

For 10 years I've wanted what this pedal does:

By Cuttingteeth

from Memphis, TN

I am always skeptical of reviews, hence the fact that I played through this pedal with my guitar and through the cheapest amp in the store...because if that sounded good, I knew my amp would sound even better. Cut to the point: I like various bands and sounds like - Throwdown, Hum, Helmet, Smoking Popes, Weezer, NOFX, etc. Finally I have a distortion pedal that is capable of generating those such tones. It's not a feedback monster either. The tones are very clear and defined.

Fire your old pedal, this one's taking over!

By Jake R.

from Lindsay, OK

I used to own a Danelectro Fab Metal Pedal, which is good for beginners. After I received this, I attached all the cords (and my Fishman adapter), and I noticed an intstant change in heaviness, tone, and what seemed to be strength. If you play any type of Metal, or Rock that needs a heavy tone, this is your pedal. Also, to save tons daily, I highly recommend the Fishman adapter. It is small and lightweight.

Awsome Pedal

By Presence Of Mind

from Michigan

I've had this bad boy for a while, and every time i plug it in im amazed. It has a great sound, with the right amp this will blow the windows out of your house. you can plug it in to the wall or with a 9v battery if you like the sound of Metallica, Lamb of God, As i lay Dying you will love this pedal. It will be worth the money. Digitech makes the most durable pedals that i know of, i've droped my Digitech turbo flanger down the stairs and it still works like the day i pulled it out of the box. so if you like metal, this is the pedal to get.
