Overview

The DigiTech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Distortion Pedal is designed for guitarists who need a pedal that gives them total control of their tone and is highly responsive to playing dynamics. Playing the Screamin' Blues pedal lightly produces mild overdrive, but dialing up the gain and digging in hard makes it sing with ultrarich harmonics and sustain. Low and High tone controls give you the flexibility to boost or cut the bass and treble frequencies. The Level knob boosts the output level of your signal, and the Gain knob dials up the distortion. An Amp output on the DigiTech Screamin' Blues pedal goes to your amplifier and the dedicated Mixer output has a cabinet emulation circuit that lets you run direct into a mixer or recorder when you don't want to lug your amp along.

FEATURES

  • Level controls distortion output level Low adjusts boost and cut of bass frequencies High adjusts boost and cut of upper harmonics Gain sets the maximum distortion amount when playing your hardest Dual outputs: The Amp output is for connecting directly to a guitar amplifier; the Mixer output features Cabinet Emulation circuitry for connecting directly to a mixing board or recording device

I can't emphasize enough how much this improves the sound of my amplifier. I have a cheap 10 watt solid state amp. It's a good amp for a beginner. But the sound is awful especially at volumes over 3. I got this Screamin' Blues pedal, and it is amazing how good my cheap little amp sounds with this thing, and I can get much higher volumes without compromising the sound quality also. It's a quality piece of equipment. It's not a toy. It's made from solid materials. The frame is metal. It has a rubber pad where the foot comes in contact with the pedal to reduce slippage. It seems like it will last for years and years. It uses a 9volt battery that's easy to change.

I bought this pedal a few months ago and I?m not happy with it because, it gives me a very dull distortion. Also if you go to replace the battery its not like a boss pedal with the screw you have to push in two buttons its not worth it for the sound. This pedal has good features but that?s the only half-way decent thing about this pedal. If you are a traveling musician don't use this pedal in a gig, I did and it just blanked out the pedal can?t hold a battery charge for its life! DONT BUY THIS PEDAL!!!!!!!!!!! If you are looking for a good distortion pedal go for a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, Ibanez TS9 tube Screamer or the Boss DS-1 distortion.

Very Good Pedal

By ColbyCheese

from St. Louis, MO

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Actually a VERY good all-around pedal for all types of music. Gain can be cranked up to allow for a everything from a blues tone (DUH!), to punk rock and everything in between. The price makes this one of the better values for the money that you can buy.

Sleeper OD pedal

By Keith

from Houston, TX

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

After a 25yr "sabbatical" and no previous pedal usage, I got this when my first pedal (a used Ibanez TS-7) flaked out. Tried several different ODs, and this one worked the best across a range of amps, and had a nice range of OD to distortion. Plus, it's cheap! Now, I've added and subtracted a mess of pedals, and have some of the more spendy ones added to the board, but this one is still there, and is used all the time, every weekend. I have bought, sold, and given away some other kinds of effects pedals, but never even thought once about replacing this one. It just works.

Great analog overdrive from Digitech

By mrmikers

from Phoenix,AZ

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Digitech Screamin'Blues Overdrive is surprisingly,an analog pedal from a company known for it's digital products. Whatever the technology, this is a seriously good overdrive pedal.I've owned this pedal since they came out several years ago and it just refuses to leave my pedalboard. The overdrive range goes from clean to a vintage Marshall-like classic rock overdrive. This pedal is very transparent. It won't color your amps tone unless you set the bass and treble controls to do so.I've tried much more expensive overdrives and this one keeps coming out on top.For blues, country, and classic rock this is a great choice at a great price.

Blues tone

By sidewalksurfer9

from Norman, OK

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal will give you a good boost if you need it. It has a decent overdrive sound. Unfortunately, this pedal gets really bad hum at high volumes. For the price, it's not bad, but i would suggest getting the Ibanez Tube Screamer instead or just getting a real tube amp to get that overdriven sound. But if you just need a boost for soloing, this pedal will do it.

Very Good Pedal

By Daniel_Ace

from Los Angeles CA

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal a few months ago and was blown away. Its a very good overdrive pedal. Its not really a distortion. If you set the Low and High's just right you can almost make your amp sound like a tube amp. You can go from setting the gain level at the fifth marking to give your amp a clean drive. Or you can set the it all the way up to get an almost distorted sound. This will make your amp sound like that of Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Pete Townshend . Mainly a good pedal for a classic rock sound. Definitely worth buying.e-mail me if you have any questions.

Great for the Money

By Les-Lethal

from Golden, CO

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal today after searching and comparing between the Tubescreamers, Bad Monkey and grunge models, and I have to say, this one stood out the most for my sound, I loved the different level controls for bleeding through with a punchy heavy distortion, or turning it down for a warm, blues tone and sound. The only thing I didn't like was the sometimes "dull" sounding distortion, but after playing with the knobs, I figured it out to get the right sound. If you are looking for an intro ovrdrive/dist. pedal, I highly recomend this one.

Sweet Blues Tones

By TheRaygun

from Reynoldsburg, OH

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Screamin' Blues is a solid overdrive pedal to really get your amp going. It's got nice, thick OD that will really make your solos stand out. I would choose this over the Boss Blues Driver, as this one stays out of the fuzz realm. Digitech makes good pedals, and I'm not ashamed to have them on my pedalboard.

A very good pedal...

By Bluesbird54

from Guilford, CT

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Screamin Blues pedal is very nice. The pedal casing is very durable and the indicator light is very bright. With it you can get a very subtle overdrive or a screaming blues-rock tone bursting with intensity. I have a vintage Chandler overdrive pedal that has a real tube in it and though the Screamin Blues is not as good sounding it is pretty close (take note that the Chandler now goes for about $300). I have played it through a variety of amps and with many different guitars and it has never let me down. For $50 you can?t go wrong.

Best DigiTech Born

By RiplikHendrix80

from Chicago, Il

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

When I first bought this pedal it's like I won an award, I play this over and over and it's still screamin' my name. This is the best thing you can possess for a reasonable price$$$. You will never get tired of this because when you play it's like your playin' for the world. So if you step your game up, play your heart out, put your mind to it, then I swear you won't be playin' at blues clubs in chicago. You can play somewhere as big as Woodstock.

A good blues pedal

By Jayhawk

from Lawrence KS

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal does a good job of giving your guitar/amp a little more of a blues sound. It is easy to use and you can change the high and low separately which is a nice feature. The pedal feels very sold and the battery is easy to change which is a nice touch. The pedal does not offer a lot of distortion. If that?s what you are looking for then I would recommend something else. But if you want to give your guitar a little bit more of a blues feel without emptying your wallet then you should check out this pedal.

Great For Both Over Drive & Distortion

By Kroeger

from GV

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is amazing for the money. It has the ability to be a good overdrive, with a great simple 2 channel EQ. You can turn up the gain and throw some distortion through your amp just as easy too. It's extremely versatile for the price. You can also make a decent stereo sound if you put one output in your amp and the other in your PA or something to that extent. It's worth every penny in my opinion.

Great Overdrive/Distortion

By bluesdude23

from CA

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a fantastic pedal for getting a sweet, rich boost in your tone. Perfect for playing the blues but with enough overtones to match many different styles. Separate high and low controls add more tonal options. The Boss Blues Driver has a somewhat creamier tone, but it doesn't have the versatility of this pedal. You can manipulate your tone simply by adjusting how hard you attack. To get the best distortion, add in front of a mildly overdriven amp. You can also play through a clean amp with the pedal gain turned up for a howling sustain. The metal construction is solid. The price is a bargain compared to more expensive OD/DIS pedals with less character. For a grittier or crunchier tone, consider the Hot Head also, which has great responsiveness also.

Great Pedal

By Troy Denney

from New Orleans, LA

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I play a Clapton Strat through a Fender Blues Jr. That is really all I need. However, I added a compressor pedal, a vox wah-wah and this Screaming Blues pedal. Now, this is truly all I need! I get rich deep sustain for long drawn out blues solos. I move the knobs around and play with the selector switch on my axe and I get SRV and Hendrix type tones. It makes my already versatile rig even more versatile and I am extremely pleased with the results.

One of the best !

By BRock

from Panama city, FL

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've only had this pedal for 2 days and I've been jamming with it for hours. Do not believe the negative comments about this. For only 40 bucks (bought mine used), this is one of the best value you can invest for yourself as a guitarist. I'm a firm believer that you don't have to spend a fortune to sound great and play your best. I use this with my amp, a VOX DA5, 5-watter, and it made sound better and louder. Some guy said that there ain't no bluesy about this, he's wrong ! This pedal fits with any genre of music, except for Heavy metal...I think this pedal is really good for Rock and blues. Uses 9V battery, some people also said that this one eats up battery quick, they must be playing for 12 hours straight, duh !!! All in all if you buy this pedal, you won't regret it, this is a great value, if you're thinking about buying, just go ahead, do it ! you'll be happy with it !

Permanent Place on my pedalboard

By Bailey Lanzilotta

from Boston, Massachusetts

Comments about Digitech Screamin' Blues Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I honestly don't know what I would do at a show without this pedal. It has an incredible gain range and a rich overdrive tone that is great for anything from Blues to Hard Rock. The level knob is very sensitive to touch and gives you a large variety of volumes. The fact that you have bass and treble knobs gives you lots of tonal diversity. I love this pedal so much that I couldn't play live without it. I use it as a higher gain overdrive in front of my vintage DoD FX50 Preamp. This pedal is very transparent, even with the gain around 1 o'clock (my personal setting). You absolutely can't go wrong with this pedal.
