I bought the Jamman stereo about a month ago for doing live acoustic duo performances. Wow, i love this pedal. I put a good 10 hours of time into sampling / recording stuff either by microphone or auxiliary input with an ipod. The first gig i did with it was awesome. It opened up a whole new way to use backing tracks as far as rhythms or percussion. The pedals are easy to click with your feet and are well-lit so you can see what your doing. It does take a little bit of time to get used to but so does every pedal that has so much to offer. This is my first looper pedal and i think itll be my last. The first 11 slots in the memory are preset beats that come stock with the pedal but 12-99 are blank and open for recording. Ive only used 20 or so and there's soo much space to record stuff -- fantastic. Its well worth the buy if your doin live gigs, if your just playing at home to jam over you'd probably be better off with the single pedal or another model thats cheap.

This was the second unit I've tried with poor results. First unit refused to connect via USB and was returned. Second unit worked well until I ran into a problem trying to utilize a 32Gb SDHC card and was unable to store more than 1.86 GB until JMManager XT (a horrible piece of software in its own right) sait the card was full. This is a known bug with many unanswered complaints in the forums since 2010. So it appears Digitech isn't interested in fixing the problem. So it too was returned. Keep looking if you're interested in a quality looper with real functional features.

Sweeet!!! Worth the $$$

By RaymondC

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a really nice step up from the original JamMan from DigiTech. The stereo quality is pretty impressive for recording. The footswitches are very durable and the addition of the loop up/down switches make it easier for use on stage! I like that they made the upgrades and kept it at the price I got the original one for about 4 years ago. I'm really happy with my investment and you will be too!

....And the downside is....

By Gabriel Rivera

from Victorville, CA

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

I wanted something to loop my tracks, something to record and store them, it did the job and more. But if you ask me it's a little over priced, go with the cheaper model. IT is a GOOD product, BUT It's not all that great. You wanna play a distorted solo over some clean parts. Guess what you can't! The clean guitar turns distorted too once your in the distortion channel. Plus if you try to harmonize it hardly turns out the way you'd like cuz the sound is uneven no matter how much you mess with it. It tends to be pretty aggravating. I expected more honestly. All those downsides was enough for me to return it. Tho I'm sure if you love gadgets you'd love this, but if your looking for a simulated "extra" then go with something cheaper. You DONT NEED the extra stuff it comes with.

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is awesome for making your own sound, or even learning multiple guitar parts for cover songs. I use mine to even record and layer tracks and burn them to cd on my laptop. Awesome looper for the price.

Distortion Channel??

By Hammer

from denver

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

this is a solid unit. The guy complaining that the clean sound turns distorted also says that happens when he "plugs into the distorion channel", which leads me to believe he is physically plugging into the other channel on the amp. Of course a clean tone will turn distorted in that situation! You need to stay on the clean channel and distort with pedals after the looper - then there is no problem!

Almost Perfect

By Don Hicks

from Hollywood, FL

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

The JamMan Stereo does everything the advertisements say it will quite well, and it is quite durable. The only area of disappointment for me is that, even though it has the same size case of other loopers that run on batteries, the JamMan Stereo only runs via the supplied a.c. adapter. When I purchased it, I had a plan to have all of my gear including the P.A. be able to set up anywhere. This has put a temporary kink in that plan. Other than that, its great!

This pedal works great for most any instrument even vocals are fun to do. Loop beats, store beats or rhythms. It's great for practicing too. Run through a song then play it and work on your solos. Easy to use on the fly.

Great pedal, software could be better

By Geronimo

from Austin, TX

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is a big step up from any of the other looper pedals out there. It has stereo capabilities which is very useful when you use another pedal with stereo capabilities like the Boss BF-3 (2 amp outs). the main feature I like is obviously the memory card functionality that allows you to move songs back and forth from your computer to your pedal. The software that you can download only allows you to manage your loops when you have the pedal plugged into your computer, it would have been nice if it could manage them when you plug the card into a card reader since my pedal is not close to my computer and I don't want to move it all the time. Records practice songs from your ipod through the audio jack very easily as well. Overall this is a great pedal.

Must have!

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

Picked the JML2 last week from GC. LOVE the added foot switches which make it ez-r to transport/set up. The real benefit was in making the unit more "foot friendly"... All around solid product and "must have" to any recording or live musician!

Incredible Device!

By Obsessed guitarist

from Plains, MT

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

My first looper, but did my homework. Learning curve: 1 hour to reasonably dub lead over dubbed rhythm guitar over drum/rhythm guide track. 3 more hours to take free internet backing tracks through iTunes to the Jamman Stereo and playing lead over it. The most time was spent learning how to convert backing tracks to iTunes files to .wav files, which is a computer issue. People need to understand that you need all of your effects before the looper and always run a clean amp, otherwise your drum, clean guitar, keyboard and bass tracks will get distorted and/or reverbed by your amp as well. Also, if you want to change tracks on the fly, other single and dual pedal loopers require additional expensive switch pedals that this unit already has built in!!! FANTASTIC!! (although wimpy guide track sounds and no power switch is a bummer) P.S. A free downloadable software upgrade (about 1 minute) was prompted, so maybe this solved earlier reviewers; software criticisms, because it seems easy to me and works well.

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is deffinatley a step up, I bought this to replace my original JamMan that I bought used, I can't even tell you with words how amazing it is to have a mic imput with it, on my original I had to make tapes and record them into the device to get the same thing I get on this.

Wonderful tool for creativity and practice

By PBiz

from Clifton, VA

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

I went to GC to buy a Boss RC-20xl but when I saw this baby I just had to have it, and Im glad I went with this unit. Relatively easy to use, sounds great, and oh boy is it fun! Run it in stereo, you wont regret it. Only downside I see is that there is no power on/off switch which means you have to unplug it to turn it off, but this is not that big a deal. HIGHLY recommend!

Great pedal!!

By Annie Wallick

from Minneapolis, MN

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

I can't say much more that hasn't already been said about this fantastic pedal. The only "downside" is that its power source is plug-in only (no battery) but for me that's really not an issue. As for the one review that complains about not being able to play distortion over clean, you actually can: you just have to put your distortion pedal (or whatever effect pedal) BEFORE the looper in your chain. Then it works great. And, unlike the video posted on this site says, it DOES come with instructions. Easy to use, decent price, well worth it.

Great product! Painfully horrible accompanying software

By Andre Berry

from North Hollywood, CA

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This Looper is awesome. A great tool for a band that doesn't mind using a click, and for laying parts to practice to etc. great sound. Memory flexibility, easy to use... But...the JamManager software is freaking painful. It froze up my stealth MacPro 8 core computer like it was a piece of software from the 80's. Everytime I tried to use it, I felt like I was using dial up internet or something and finally after my reliable computer froze the 7th or 8th time I used the jammanager software and it wouldn't come back on. My hard drive fried!! Beware. It seems apparent Digitech cares absolutely nothing about the software end of things or they wouldn't subject us to such a disasterous, buggy, slow moving sofware. On top of that, we are forced to put all our audio files on our main hard drive with no other options. Who does that anymore?! Are we in the 80's?! It's 2012 for petes sake!! I use my computer for production and was always careful to have separate drives for audio, and only use my main drive for applications, and as few of those as possible. With that philosophy I have been able to run 80 tracks in Logic Audio (with many plugs in), without a hiccup. Not so with Jammanager...Ugh. Hiccup, fart, stall, crash, burn. That little tiny program killed my computer, so you take your chances using the software. Don't say you weren't warned. You been forewarned by someone who's been burned...badly...

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have read so many reviews of this on the internet. I own a Boss JS-5 which can do most of the same things, but it is so complicated, and annoying to use! This seems so simple, and functional. I will get one of these for sure!

What can I say I'm LOOPADY DOO over this pedal. It does what is says it does, the way it should. It's a good buy and great fun for the price. Hey you know Guitar Centers "TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT" (c)2010 SDA. So plug one in and get a grin you will walk out with it in hand if you do.

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

It is by far the best looper I have used.It is easy to use I have gone through a lot of these pedals there are no issues that I can find with this pedal just want to let the person know that says it is distorted plug it in after the distortion pedal so you can play leads over a clean sound or turn the instrument input level down glad I already knew that or you may have made me not purchase the pedal can't wait to jam with band not going to tell them I am using until they ask lol well worth the $$$$

Feature-filled, ruggedly built... this thing rules!

By Ray

from APO, AE

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is great. Simply great. There is a slight learning curve, but timing wasn't as much an issue as some of the other reviews may lead you to believe. The construction is undeniably rugged, and unless you blatantly abuse this, it will never wear. Buy this, plug in, and let the creativity flow. The JamMan Stereo has great features that allow everything from an on-the-spot "undo" function to erase your last dubbing (either live or when stopped), to live reverse dubbing, to full time signature customization and tempo control. You can even change the tempo of stored loops. And once you've perfected your loop, you can store it to the device (or SD card) and transfer it to your PC or Mac via USB. The included software is simple and effective, although it will require you to download and install Microsoft SilverLight, if you're using a PC. Not a big deal, but I would have preferred it not to require extra software to be functional. Flash could've worked, too. All in all, this pedal is great. If you're looking for something with on-board effects as well, there are other options, but the JamMan Stereo is a great piece a great piece of equipment that is perfect for practicing, composing, and gigging.

AMAZING!!!!!!! BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

By shelby bray

from Sacramento, CA

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

i just got this pedal for Christmas 2011 and I am already a huge fan. this pedal has everything I was looking for and more. its versatile design makes it easy to use and control and convenient when writing songs, practicing, or just improvising to a rythym. and to the dude who said you cannot play distorted solos over clean rythyms you are wrong. you just need to have any distortion pedal you have before your JamMan. because when you turn on your amp distortion,no matter what you do, everything that filters through the amp is gonna be distorted. so if you just use a distortion or overdrive pedal before the looper, it works perfeectly. and harmonizing actually comes out pretty well on this pedal. you just have to have accurate timing towards both loops you harmonize to. or you could loop one part of a harmony and just play the other part to ensure your timing is accurate. and if you wanna play a riff behind it prerecord the riff before the harmony, but make sure it compliments the harmony. but overall this pedal is amazing and totally worth the money. MUST BUY.

Versatile, Awesome, but takes some practice

By michael tenney

from washington DC

Comments about Digitech JML2 JamMan Stereo Looper and Phrase Sampler Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is limited only by your imagination. I use it mainly to round out my sound doing acoustic solo or duet shows but I also have some uses when I play with my full band. It does take some practice and a LOT of tinkering to really explore the depths of what this unit is capable of but I love it. This thing can make you sound like a symphony with a little bit of practice. disclaimer: The unit does help you with "quantizing" the rhythm, but you still need to have rhythm. You will quickly become aware of the flaws in your time keeping, so expect that you will have to practice. that being said, i was doing some pretty cool stuff with it after about 15 minutes of tinkering. I've one complaint - you can't store and delete loops from the foot pedals, you have to use the buttons. otherwise when you switch loops, it deletes what you just recorded.
