Overview

The DigiTech HardWire Series TL-2 is a metal distortion pedal that lets you pick your poison. Metal can come at you fast with tight low-end and a crunching top—or stalk you slowly with a low, throaty roar that sizzles on the high end. The TL-2 distortion pedal's Tight/Loose switch controls the "tightness" of the low end and adjusts the midrange frequency to provide the best overall tone. Level, Gain, and Low, Mid and High tone controls with sweepable midrange allow you to dial in any tone with ease.

The HardWire pedals series represents the DigiTech commitment to quality and attention to subtle details. In addition to technical enhancements like true bypass and high voltage operation, all HardWire pedals feature rugged, all-metal construction; a wide, stage-stable footprint; durable, custom-machined metal knobs for a sure grip; and precision potentiometers that guarantee knob positions will stay intact.

The rugged, durable construction of Extreme Performance Pedals is just the beginning. Inside each HardWire pedal are technological features that serious players require—all updated and improved to their utmost capacity. True bypass preserves the purity of your original tone as signal passes through the pedal, and high voltage operation further protects your sound by eliminating clipping and other signal degradation caused by power drain.

With the high-output pickups found on some electric guitars, it's not unusual to hear clipping when playing through an effects pedal. This occurs when the voltage range produced by a guitar's pickup is greater than the operating voltage of the effects pedal—normally limited to the voltage supplied by the effect's battery or power supply. HardWire pedals incorporate circuitry that increases the operating voltage headroom above that of the typical pedal. As such, HardWire pedals benefit a wider range of guitars and are also at home in an amplifier's effects loop.

HardWire Pedals include the following stage accessories:
Stomplock™ knob guard locks your tone in place and prevent tampering or accidental knob adjustments onstage
Pedal Switch Glow Sticker helps you locate the pedal in adverse stage lighting
Custom-cut Hook and Loop Pedalboard Pad to attach and lock your pedals to your pedalboard

My friends have the Boss Metal Zone pedal, and sure its not like it doesn't do anything, it just wasn't "metal" enough, not enough low I mean. But then I was introduced to this petal, and all I said was metal. It can go low like Fear Factory and Pantera, but with out blowing out a small practice amp. The "tight" and "Loose" switch is a great adition, but don't expect that practice amp to last with the low all the way up on loose. This petal will take some time to find that sweet spot, but once you do. Rock on.

Not so good....

I used this a few times, and is really not that good.If you play in high voume it gets really annoying with the feedback...just my opinion.

Awesome Pedal!

By Tanner Eggert

from Orlando, Florida

I bought this pedal a few months ago after seeing it on youtube. I really like it. It's got so many different possible metal tones. I can get heavy tones and some hair metal tones as well. The pedal itself is extremely durable and very 'beefy' so it isn't going to slide around much. I love its construction. This is the best metal pedal around, especially for the money.

Excellent, Versatile Distortion

By Silverbullet524

from Pendleton, IN

First of all, I'd like to say though I'm not a big Digitech fan, this Hardwire series is AMAZING! The pedal is slightly wider than normal which makes it easier to press. The Stomp-Lock keeps your knobs in place beautifully. The sound is pretty good, although not quite as chunky as I would like sometimes. However, it is the most versatile distortion I've ever seen. Tight setting is great for soloing, anything from Guns n Roses to Scorpions. Loose is what I typically use, which on lower gain gives you standard distortion, and also works great for rhythm guitar playing in metal. The reason for the versatility is the 6 EQ knobs and the toggle switch. Also, this is a very loud pedal: I rarely have it over a quarter volume, so this could easily function as a boost.

METAL....

By Joe Bro

from Roseville,CA

Look no further. All the gain you will ever need is right here in this little pedal. I just got this pedal yeterday and I was very pleased. I played it through my Egnater Tweaker 15 watt combo with my P.R.S. SE Custom and it sounded freakin' sweet. The tight and loose switch allows you to go from searing solos to fat and chunky crunch with the flick of a switch. I tried out a Boss Metal Core before buying this pedal and there is no comparison, the Hardwire Metal Distortion is just to amazing. I play mostly blues and rock but I also dig on the metal every once and a while. That's why I bought a super high gain distortion pedal. Simply because I want to rock........

DigiTech TL-2

By Alex

from Washington

I got this little baby for Christmas, and wow. This thing blew my mind. Ive tried other pedals at my local GC store and nothing even came close to this thing. If you are looking for some serious metal crunch or some nice bluesy soloing, buy this. One thing i do have an issue with is the insane amount of treble this thing outputs, your gonna wanna have good bass on your amp.

FREAKIN' AWESOME

By Isaac Lamb

from Pendleton, Indiana

This is by far the best distortion pedal I've ever played on. So versatile!! Every day it blows my mind. Using the loose setting gives you awesome bass tone for chugging out riffs by Disturbed or Scorpions. The tight setting gives you fantastic treble control riffs by Slash or Jimmy Paige. Any pedal that can go from Slash to Disturbed deserves attention. BUY IT! If the price goes up, BUY IT!! Even if it costs you ten times more, BUY IT! buy two! buy three!! greatest distortion pedal on the market, no question.

Dime would be proud

By Joseph Lang

from East Stroudsburg PA

I went to GC to play with the MXR DD-11 Dimebag Darrell Tribute pedal. My friend Josh told me to look at this one as well. As soon as i plugged into this, my Lefty Dean Razorback grew some devil's horns and all metal hell broke loose. It has that In your face Dime tone (listen to Pantera's first four albums...you'll understand) which blew me away. Although its built for metal, i dialed in some great blues tones ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughn to BB King. The level, gain, low, high, mid, and mid frequency help keep your tonre nice and crisp, especially with the tight/loose toggle switch. It's punchy, versatile, and affordable. Digitech has finally come through with the best pedal ever made. Dime would be proud of this pedal.
