I am moving from a Digitech GNX4 to this unit after many happy years of gigging with the GNX4. In transferring my existing presets (which must be done manually, because there is no utility or application available from Digitech to assist you in this type of task), I discovered a real problem with the GSP1101. I have a preset that has both IPS and Chorus on the GNX4. When trying to program this into the GSP1101, I discovered that ALL the effects are in single bank, and you only get to choose 1. So for this effect, I get to detune it, but cannot apply Chorus, unless I buy a standalone Chorus, and run it as an external effect in the external effects loop of the GSP1101. That, or I can buy a pitch shifter, and run the Chorus internally on this patch. So beware if you are "upgrading" from a GNX4 or the like, that for over twice the price, you may still have to go and purchase additional stomp boxes and run them externally, because of the limitations of this unit.

Awesome with your assistance

By Russell

from Cleburne, Texas

To make this awesome you will need to do some work. Go to mustbebeta.com an get the latest beta firmware as well also get the cabinet software, it free too. After that is all done you can use up to 10 cabinet impulse responses from other places like Redwirz.com. That is when this equipment turns into magic. The preloaded cabinet impulses are trash compared to the redwirez. I use the 1101 with headphones and it is really inspiring when all the "assistance" is done. This is now my go to amp simulator although it sounds like tubes to me!

Only one effect per patch...be warned...you may still need additional stompboxes with this unit...

Love, Love, Love.

By Dan Ogden

from West Orange, NJ

Sounds a'plenty, connection options to spare (with detailed user manual advice for a variety of playing situations), easy to assign MIDI (I use a Eureka Sound modded Behringer FCB1010 - also easy to accomplish at home and very helpful), clean signal and I haven't hit the bottom on the effects yet. The main reason they don't list all the effects is because you'd probably never be able to figure out exactly how many there are. The one add I'd like: more wah options (maybe a traveller, talkwah, etc.). But otherwise, still awesome.

High quality sound!

By Jesse Roberson

from San Antonio , Texas

First off, This unit has very high quality sounds. The amp models are amazing...with a bit of tweaking mind you, and it makes setup and tear down a breeze. No more pedal boards and endless amounts of pedals and cables to deal with. By the way, If you do get this unit you might want to look up the "Mustbebeta vC63" firmware for it, it is beta ware, and I was scared as hell to get the update but I bit the bullet and the "vC63" is twice as good as the stock 2.0 firmware(lots of bugs fixed, as well as new amp models). Just do lots and lots of research on google before you just up and download the new firmware for your unit, lots can go wrong if you do not do it correctly.

Awesome Machine but no support from digitech

By justin wright

from Coraopolis PA

I just bought this and the Control 2 that works great with it. Hands down, I love the tone this thing delivers. I'm not a fortunate soul that can get his hands on vintage tube sound so I have to settle for the next best thing. I went out and tested, re-tested, and spent a good year trying out various amp modelers and multi-effect processors before deciding on the GSP 1101. It is awesome. I use a mosvalve mv-962 for a power amp and connect that to 2 PA speaker cabinets. Sounds almost like I have a real marshall jtm 45 (Now if I could just play half way as well as Hendrix). So why the 3 stars???? Because Digitech is not so techy after all. They don't even support this thing, but fail to mention that on their website. Yes a certain beta site is out there doing a great job, but it's only for windows. I'm a mac guy. Digitech's software for the GSP 1101 doesn't run on modern versions of MAC OSX. They haven't officially updated this thing for years, but won't come out and say they quit supporting it. So still major guitar stores sale this thing at full price, but you are left with basically an antique piece of guitar equipment. My advice before you buy. Make sure you have a PC that can run X-edit Beta from the MustBeBeta site. And remember you are on your own if this thing gives you problems because there is no longer any true support for such a awesome pre am/processor.

Too Much to quickly review...tweakers delight

By Morse

from arroyo grande, ca

This is American Made! Dual DNA2 processors, lexicon reverbs A ton of tones from squeeky clean to DSL out of control. It's all here and more. Just too much to list. Their website has demos to listen to and custom presets to download for the unit. has to be the most hardware powerful processors out there curtesy of Harman Kardon. The key is also so much of this unit wants a stereo config for the best spacializations. I run this through a Ultramizer pro then to a huge QSC GX5 then to two way 15" speakers. 8' feet apart...look out!

Great versatility

By Davis

from Dallas, TX

I have owned mine for over a month and feel that this was one of the best purchases I have made since playing guitar. I no longer use amp sound for live performance, but rather use the preamp as my tone and run direct to the PA system. The ground switch really helped clean up the live tone reducing the feedback which I always had with my old Marshall AVT150. Currently running this through an Epiphone Valve Junior and an EH 22 Cal power amp for some stage volume and practice around the house. My only beef has been with the software. Managed to get the software downloaded and the USBs mapped and the unit will work fine and connect without issues, but after disconneting and restarting the computer I continue to get an error message that the system is not found. Digitech provided great technical support to get this fixed in a day. No problems since. The models work well. I have not lived enough lifetimes as some to determine whether they match each and every cab model, but the effects are amazing. The tube screamer, metal distortions, and delays all work well and it is great having a tap tempo. Great product and look forward to years of service

Why didn't I buy this years ago?

By Peter

from PA

Ok, to start off, this thing has a chromatic tuner, 7-band EQ, a noise suppressor, a compressor, and a sustainer. Buying those effects in single pedals alone is worth the price of this unit. I didn't even mention any of the modeling capabilities yet. This unit has 99 presets, and 99 savable channels. Has TONS of effects, ranging from every kind of distortion imaginable, to chorus effects, to phasers, to pitch shifters. I play in drop A#, and I wanted to get a super deep heavy distortion sound like Chevelle. I had to mess around with it for a while, but after combining all the right models and effects and fine tuning all the parameters, WOW! You can get some very strong distortions out of this thing. I can't recommend enough. Buy now!

Digitech 2120 OUTWAYS THIS

By Dyllen James Owens

from California

This product was given to me from a long time friend after her gave up one this... I have to say I own a Digitech 2120, 2112 and a 2101. They have fallen short removing the Tubes!? And making it all solid state is asking for problems. This thing has quite a few effects but it's main purpose is amp modeling? I already have a Mesa 2:90 power amp why would I want that modeled? It's easy to program and its built solid clean and is wired very nicely. I recommend turning elsewhere if your looking for a nice effects processor. If your looking for amp modeling then I really would recommend this. For a processor nope just buy a nice one. If your willing to put in time and effort since they are hard to find I recommend the Digitech 2120 hard to find built solid with tubes and great effects. Also one of the best multi effects/ pre amp processors ever! This things needs an overhaul quick! I'm an old tube fan and this solid state pre amp stuff is annoying me... Please Digitech go back to your old stuff!!!
