About Digitech:

DigiTech, an offshoot of John Johnson and David DiFrancesco's DOD Electronics, was one of the first companies to develop digital effects for guitarists, and initially made its reputation with the DSP128, the first multi-effects processor, revolutionary in its ability to use three effects at once. They followed this with the IPS33, the first successful intelligent harmonizer for musical instruments. It was with the introduction of the original Whammy Pedal in 1990, though, that they really broke through with an effect that's still sought after in the vintage market, as well as still in production in its fourth generation.
