NEW REVIEW - I recommend this product
The harmonies are great and realistic. The effects are some of the best i've heard. I like the way you can combine both or just press a foot switch and turn on or off one or both of them. If I had to give it a criticism, it would be that I wish the vocal and guitar channels were separate. The way it's configured is both voice and guitar come out the same output. It would be nice to use harmonies on vocals through the PA and effects on the guitar through the guitar amp. Other than that, if you are considering this product, I don't think you can go wrong with it. I am very pleased with mine.

NEW REVIEW - Won't Perform without it.
I have been using the Vocalist live 4 for a little over a year now. I will not sing without it. The harmonies are very good and tight. The combinations are versatile and fit into just about any category I could think of. If you play the right chords and can carry a tune in a bucket this unit will make you sound great. For a soloist it is like having a background group you never have to feed. Just make sure and turn it off before talking, that is a bit strange if you don't. The footswitch operation makes it easy to do vocal arrangements on the fly. I love this piece of equipment.

Sweet Piece
WOW, I purchased Vocalist live 4 about 1 month ago. I am very impressed with the sound it produces. It makes my vocals sound studio quality and even makes my guitar sound great. Nice variety of presets and fairly simple to operate. Was set up and using in 15 minutes. Only took me a couple hours to really know what I was doing. Harmonies are great and pitch correction really does work if needed. Worth the money even without the AKG D5 mike, great sounding and really reduces feed back. My muscian friends are all drooling. Can’t think of any criticism. Highly recommend to singer/guitar player

Great gear for solo act!
I just bought this unit and was pretty skeptical about it at first. But after looking at all the reviews from You Tube and reading the reviews here and elsewhere I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet. I've been a solo act for years and have always tried to stay "raw" so to speak. However after purchasing this unit I was floored! Right out of the box it was so easy to set up and get to playing. I haven't even had time to tweak anything on it and it simply blows me away! The sound is so realistic and I can't wait to use it in my next gig. If you fly solo like I do you really need to check this thing out. It could be the co-pilot you're looking for. + you don't have to pay this guy but once!

Great for the gigging guitarist
I gig with this and it's very good. I play a wide variety of styles but am currenbtly using it in a trio playing Cream numbers. Typically the 3rd above harmony is the main one used in this context but I've also used it in Beatles and Eagles songs too and found the harmonies great. As the other guys don't sing, it really adds a touch of class to be able to add the harmonies at the push of the button, though of course work-load goes up with all the pedal dancing to switch it in and out. I've found it tracks impecably and the harmonies are pretty convincing. It stores a few seconds of memory so even if you bum a chord it isn't thrown off key. For the extra money I'd recommend the Vocalist 4 because the guitar effects are handy, particularly in an acoustic solo performance and the ability to step through user patches is great. I can't really fault this box - it's the next best thing to having real harmonies!

Awesome Equipment
Built sturdy but longevity remains to be seen.
All praises to the presets and harmonies, just make sure that your guitar is tuned or else...
The lead effects will add new dimension to your singing abilities. You will sound great even plugging it in on somebody elses PA. I own the Vocalist Live 4 for 2 weeks now and have no intentions of returning it. Definitely recommended. God made this through the people from Digitech.

Vocalist Live 4 review
I upgraded to the VL4 from the VL2 last week, and I must say that i am happy I did. The VL4 has great effects, tons of presets, and is very easy to configure and store user presets as well. Once you know what you want, you will probably only have 4 or 5 presets that you use and you customize them exactly like you want them. The Personas which impersonate women or even a large male singer are unbelievable. I can finally sing the female vocal part in Gimme Shelter, and I will be able to do this by Crash Test Dummies by using the octave down setting. If this machine broke, I would replace it instantly. It is so much fun, I can't wait to play with it every day! All you need is a pair of powered speakers and the VL4, and you can gig perfectly - no mixer or outside effects required - it has it all.

A very capable Vocal Processor!
I never thought we would use any modeling processor in our blues band, but the Digitech Vocalist 4 changed my mind! Tons of harmony settings are just the icing on the cake, since you can tweak your main vocal sound with everything like de-esser, compression, reverb, delay, pitch correction, etc.. the list goes on. This allows you to change pre-programmed main vocal settings with the foot controller during the set. We only use the harmonies sparingly in a few songs, but it still looks odd if you have one singer and a whole backup group comes through the PA. The realism of the harmony voices is stunning and by no means sounds fake. We do play serious blues music, but that doesn't mean our vocals have to sound like crap. The Vocalist 4 is built tough and seems reliable. It's the most fun and useful piece of equipment I have bought in years. I can see a whole swarm of these gizmos appearing at club gigs in the near future...

A must have for the recording I do
I'm not sure why this product has only three stars. This has been the best piece of music that I have bought in years. The Vocalist 4 does just what it says it will do. One thing that you have to know in order to use this. Using the 50 presets that are programed on the machine. Not every preset will match the song you are trying to do. This is something that takes time to learn but is a must. The other day I tried to do a song on the preset of take 6-----it sucked. I had to find a setting that had a third under me, a third over me, and one voice that thickens my vocals. You have to use your guitar in order for the harmony to follow the chord progression. I even found a setting that could hang in there with the many chords of Hotel California. For those that don't care for it------------Sorry. As for me. If it was stollen today, I would buy another one in the morning.

Taking it back.
This thing is fun and kinda cool, but the sounds do not sound natural at all. I'll never use it live again. Too unpredictable. It also has a hard time keeping up with chord changes when the Music IQ is on.
The people giving this 5s either have no ears or work for DigiTech.
