Product Information

Smarter than your average harmony pedal.

The DigiTech Vocalist Live 2 Harmony Processor uses breakthrough musIQ technology to directly analyze the output of any electric or pre-amplified acoustic guitar (no special MIDI guitars or hex-outputs needed). Then it generates the correct vocal harmony. For example, if you're singing an A over the chords that are generally found in the key of G, Vocalist will harmonize with a C. But, if you then play an A major, the Digitech Vocalist will shift to the C#...because like any good harmony singer, it listens to the guitar!

A surprising number of songs "fool" other harmony pedals because these songs just don't work with a single key/scale setting. In fact, any song that has the same note sung over two different chords (for example, a C sung in the melody over a C maj / F maj chord sequence) is going to confound conventional harmony pedals.

With musIQ, forget about the technology just sing and play! Skip complicated programming and having to analyze each song chord-by-chord; just 1. Plug in your microphone and guitar; 2. Pick a 3rd or 5th-above or below harmony preset; 3. Sing and play — when you want harmony, just step on the footswitch!

Patent-pending musIQ technology combines new Note Detection algorithms with state-of-the-art Harmony Generation. The Note Detection section analyzes complex guitar waveforms and determines which notes in each chord are critical to accurate harmony. This information is then fed to an advanced harmony engine that creates harmonies consistent with both the singer's melody and the underlying guitar accompaniment.

This totally new, musically-intelligent effects processor hybrid of traditional chordal and scalic harmony modes means that Vocalist Live musIQ harmonies stay true to not only the overall key and song scale, but also localized variations due to chords that aren't part of the global key. You've never heard anything like it!

With our Guaranteed Lowest Price, you can be assured of complete satisfaction and the lowest available price, or your money back!

Vocalist 2

Finally got this 2 days ago after seeing it advertised for several months. My first impression out of the box was that it might have been overpriced for the quality of harmonies, but after I got used to the settings I have to say it works really well. It seems to sound better on some songs than others. Some of the harmonies produced are not what I would naturally sing but some of them are dead on. Sometimes I'll even hear one of the harmonies shift on its own on a long note, which can really sound great. For the songs that the harmonies don't sound quite right, the Unison setting produces a pleasing effect although I've noticed that it can take awhile for it to kick in when I select it on a new song. My # (sharp) indicator on the tuner doesn't seem to work but it's not a big deal and I may just ignore it. So far I've just been playing around with it but I'll probably start to jot down the particular settings after I work them out for each song. Since I mostly solo, it's going to get alot of use to fill out my sound. It's not %100 for every song but for the price I'd definitely buy it again.

Got it , tried it, love it!

Just got the digitech vocalist 2 yesterday and if I had a choice i would not have left the house today. I just recently started playing in a band again as well as solo work and I can see it as a teaching tool for band harmonies and well as really filling out performing solo. Its a lot of fun and I am no kid. Paid a lot less than the posted price. Get it you won't be dissapointed.

It is awesome!

What a great device!!!! I am not what you can call a singer, I have been playing for the past 15 years but i just started singing 4 months ago, I am a little shy about singing, but with this machine, your confidence level will BOOST! I am geeting a lot of compliments and comments, about the "vocals" It is great... The only thing that I would add, would be a mute pedal for the vocals... other than that... GREAT!!!

Waiting for the 4

Picked this up last night and played with it for a few hours. These reviews are dead on. It won't work with every song, but when you find one it does work on, man is it a lot of fun! Didn't notice much out of the unison either... Also, when choosing the low (3rd or 5th) harmony, they're much harder to hear in the mix than if you choose a higher harmony than your voice. The best settings can differ from song to song, so you gotta mess with it to figure out what works best. I even noticed that certain songs (for instance one with a bridge) may need 2 different settings on the different parts to sound the best. But that's only if you're super picky. However, from song to song changing the harmony on this thing, I could see how bending over after every song would get VERY old on stage. That reason, pitch correction, and guitar effects are why I'm waiting on the 4. Until then, I'll play with this one until I have to take it back!! Gotta love that 30days no hassle return! ;)

Buy one today

Bought it. After waiting for 2 months for it to arrive due to being back ordered, it finally arrived yesterday. It is a great tool and does an awsome job. I have shown it to several of my singer song writer friends and all of them wanted to take it home. I am sure several of them will be ordering one of their own.

It's good but...

I recently purchased this unit because I sing in a band in which, unfortunately, no one else sings. At all. Even heavy music needs harmonies sometimes! When the Vocalist Live 2 arrived I was delighted! I plugged it in here at home and was amazed at what it could do and still am very happy with the quality and clarity of sound. It doesn't seem to have any affect on the guitar signal running through it. I played my Takameni Electric/Acoustic and heard no hum, hiss, buzz or any other extraneous evils affect it at all. And the harmonies! The rich, full harmonies that changed with the cords...and were breathtaking! No, I mean literally as I stopped singing twice to try to hear the harmonies better! (I know, DUH, right?) So far so good. Next I plugged in my Ibanez Strat, distortion, overdrive, the whole bit. Same results and I'm impressed except for one thing...no octave voicing. It has two double settings, neither of which is capable of producing a higher or lower octave. Hmmm... So I take it to practice and it sounds good, it's just a matter of playing with it a little to figure out which harmonies you want for which songs. When the volume level in the room gets loud the harmonies, not the guitar or the original vocal signal, get a bit fuzzy, but only with two harmonies selected. I suspect all the extra overtones and such give it too much information for it to process when producing two voices. When producing one it still sounds great though! So besides the octave bit, my only complaints are: 1)No pre-sets. At all. It's on/off for either (or both) the effects and the harmonies. Unless you have talented toes or otherwise manually manipulate the unit you cannot switch from one to two (or high to low to double or to anything but what is set and off), 2)And since I don't play guitar in my band I would not normally be anchored to any spot on the stage but now... These are the reasons I only gave it 3 stars. If I was using it as it was intended I would give it 5 all the way! It's an excellent product. Glad I bought it.

love it

I got this unit on a preorder so got one of the first shipped out-it adds a lot to the sound of my acoustic duo. ind you, you will have to take some time to dial in what sound right and it is definitely not for every song but what it adds is awesome for those songs that can use it-well worth the price. I do wish that it had a way to do presets as I find that different songs need different set ups and changing during a show will mean bending over and messing with the pedal. A minor problem-digitech could fix it with something that mounts on a mic stand as well-maybe on the next model-overall though this baby is a ton of fun

amazing stuff

I have been using digitech vocalizer since they invented them way back when. I have used almost every type released in seach of the perfect hamonizer. I watched the both released videos of this product and was impressed. The proof will be in the pudding as they say. Anyone can make a product look good. The vocalist in the past have been barely usable with all kinds of artifacts and harshness that required tricks to make it work. In the end I used my vocalist during all live performances so it worked somehow. My biggest complaint is the fact Digitech keeps pushing the release date up over and over. I have been waiting and hoping for a great product. Looks like I'll have to wait a few more months but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Thomas
