capt boots
I was searching high and low for something more compact than my randall head and rack mount eq to get the thickest, crunchiest tone possible.
i was pretty anti-pedal until i heard this thing straight into headphones. it's pretty ridiculous, and you'll defintely need to turn the gain down a bit at times...that's unusual.
if you like krankenstein tone but don't want a big head and a $2000 hole in your wallet, try this.
then run it through an eq and power amp and you'll blow the more expensive rigs off the stage.
seriously, it's killer.

DF-7 Distortion Factory
This is the best distortion pedal I have ever used. Its extremely versitile because it has 7 different distortion sounds (I think 3 and 5 are the best). You can also change the sound as much as you like with low, high, and mid controls. If your looking for great distortion for any kind of music buy this pedal!

Versatile Tones
Giving you 7 different distortion pedals in one box, for the price, is a great deal, however I found some of the sounds to be a little weak (the Tubescreamer, and the DOD 808). The other models were mostly pretty good, but all lacked the warmth of the original pedals (except the Boss DS-1 model, that was spot-on).
If you are into a lot of different genres of music and haven't found your sound yet, then try this pedal out.

The Only Distortion Pedal You'll Need!
When needing a good variety of distortion, the DigiTech DF-7 was my obvious top choice! The Ibanez TS-9 and DOD 250 models produce excellent overdrive, the Boss DS-1 and ProCo Rat settings give good rock distortion, the Boss MT-2 and DigiTech XMM are pure metal, and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi model is insane on the sustain! Additionally, the speaker cabinet modeling and Stereo Spectrum features add tons of realism and huge depth to the tone and overall sound of this stompbox! This pedal is built like a tank, using metal construction; and produces high-quality, digital sound. The carbon fiber paint makes it look really cool, too! DigiTech X-Series pedals provide you with the most bang for your buck, and I highly recommend them! Make sure to grab a DigiTech AC power supply so you can save money on batteries!

Just OK
This pedal gives you a lot of distortion sounds for a pretty good price. It just doesn't sound that great to me though. I would prefer my amp's distortion (Line 6 spider II) over this box. I haven't had any technical problems, but I just don't really like the distortion sounds. They really do not have any low end or midrange bite, they're just treble. This is my biggest problem. I think I'm going to exchange it for a Marshall Guv'nor or a Seymour Duncan twin tube classic. I urge you to go to your local music store and try this out before you think about buying it.
