Overview

Widen the sound of your gear with the DiMarzio Split P pre-wired pickguard. All you need is a screwdriver.

Each half of this unique double-blade P-style pickup is a complete humbucker. Split P pickups are EQ'd to expand the range of your bass by extending both low- and high-end response: a great way to get a broader contemporary sound from mid-rangy one - pickup - in - the - middle basses. The double-blade design adds snap for crisp attack and emphasizes cool overtones for big, smooth tone.

Blade pole pieces also make the Split P very sensitive to finger- and pick-attack. Notes seem to ring longer, especially in the upper registers, as the pickup "hears" the decaying note practically down to a whisper.

A Great Sounding Upgrade

By RICK RICHARDSON

from Lynnwood, WA

Comments about DiMarzio Split P Bass Pre-Wired Pickguard:

This install did not go as easily advertised. The pick guard had to be shaved to fit the bass and align with the screw holes and the cutouts for the pickups, the pickup mounting screws supplied with the kit were shorter than the original screws, so the first installation did not allow for the needed height adjustment for the pickups. The screw terminal did not hold the wires effectively and the wires came loose on install, so the recommendation is to solder all of the leads into place; good wiring diagrams can be found on DiMarzio?s website. The pickups sound great, with a full sound and good low end response. The quality of the electronics is very good, so if you are looking for an inexpensive, but great sounding upgrade to your P-bass, this is a really good way to go, but if you are not mechanically or electrically inclined you might arrange for some help before starting.

If you can't use this, give it up

By Dirtweed.bass

from Memphis, TN

Comments about DiMarzio Split P Bass Pre-Wired Pickguard:

I didn't use the plate that came with the set because mine was already "aged" but that's just me. There was nothing wrong with it. Installation was as simple as you could possibly ask for. If you can't install this set on your your own, you are a complete and totally useless moron. Cut and strip the end of one wire and turn some screws. Gravy. There's even a YouTube installation video. It takes longer to change and retune a set of strings. Pickups that look and sound great. The most smooth and even tone across a set of strings that I have ever had straight out of the box. I just screwed the pickups down far enough that I don't hit 'em when I'm playing and that was it. I didn't have to adjust anything to get my volume and tone consistent from pickup to pickup or string to string. It was literally a case of plug it in and start playing. Superb job Dimarzio!
