Overview

Jake Bowen is one of the new generation of guitarists on the cutting-edge of progressive rock. His sound is helping to redefine rock guitar, and his pickups play a major part. The Titan Neck and Bridge Model pickups were developed for his new signature guitar by Ibanez.

Jake's bridge pickup is crucial to his sound, and the most important feature is that it needed to be tight. It also needed to have good dynamics for right-hand playing yet still keep the aggressiveness and mid-range that Periphery's music calls for. The Titan Bridge Model is at home with both standard and dropped tunings. Additionally, Jake shares that "it's a very tight, aggressive palm-muted sound when I do palm-muting strokes but - when I play open chords - everything rings out very nicely."

Recommended for bridge.

Tech Talk
Many high-output pickups are either very bright or very dark. The Titan Bridge Model is bright where it needs to be - on the low end. The highs are warmer, and the Titan has a distinctive voice that doesn't get lost, even in a dense, three-guitar mix.

I am now a Dimarzio user

Comments about DiMarzio DP259 Titan Bridge Humbucker Pickup:

First off let me say one thing, this beast is TIGHT! The lows are focused and the highs are not ice picky either. The best way to describe this thing is a PAF vibe on massive steroids. It is like the evil brother of the Seymour Duncan SH-5, but better! Has more mids, not as harsh(Or harsh at all for that matter, its bright where it needs to be, in the upper mids), is much tighter and focused and the string separation on this pickup is ridiculous! I replaced the TB-10 full shred on my Schecter SLS blackjack Floyd Rose with the F spaced Titan and all I can say is this pickup is night and day! The articulation on this beast is unreal and palm mutes sound nasty even though the highs and lows are slightly rolled off while the mids are boosted! It's also a great lead pickup. This pickup cuts through the deepest of mixes and it exposes any mistakes you make, so watch your playing cause even in a heavy orchestrated mix it will be heard! It is also super sensitive to right hand dynamics like how jake said in his interview with Larry Dimarzio. This is great for progressive metal, "Djent", metalcore, and just about any modern type of metal while also being a great option for fusion and softer styles since it has a paf vibe to it. It nails jake bowen's tone and it can even nail Misha's "Bulb" tone(not to mention it's cheaper than the BKP juggernauts while being just as good). For those who want to switch from the Crunch lab or aftermaths to these, do it! You will not regret it! This is the best modern humbucker Dimarzio has put out yet! Kuddos to Dimarzio and their staff!

Comments about DiMarzio DP259 Titan Bridge Humbucker Pickup:

I purchased this pickup set to put in my opeth prs se. I'm very pleased warm yet pronounced.....sounds creamy with a tube screamer and with lots of gains still very defined. It's some where between a vintage sound and a modern sounding pickup. It has the clarity and clean up of a vintage pickup but can still hang with a blackout or an emg with the thunder. Great balance. I fully recommend. The bridge pick up is much more focused on attack and just being spongy and responsive....great for low string bends to accent riff with vibrato.
