The DiMarzio DP222 D Activator-X bridge position humbucker features the same striking look as DiMarzio's X2N pickup. DiMarzio has adjusted the output and tuned the coils to different frequencies to create a powerful sound. The D Activator X is wide open and surprisingly clean pickup when the volume control is rolled down, even with extreme metal and high-gain amps.
Recommended For: Bridge position only.
Tech Talk: The DP222 D Activator-X bridge electric guitar pickup uses the same bar pole pieces and magnet structure as the DiMarzio X2N, but it's a very different pickup in other ways. Output voltage is slightly lower than the X2N, and the tuning of the two coils allows the high frequencies to open up while still maintaining very strong lows and mids. The DiMarzio D Activator-X pickup is also very good for clean, bright sounds in split and parallel modes.

I bought this pickup because I wanted to upgrade my bridge pickup to a more high output model and let me tell boy was I impressed with 9.5/10 would buy again
This has amazing tonal capabilities for such a high gain pickup. You can get all the tonal qualities of an EMG but without the harshness and rigid sound of an active pickup. Roll back the volume, and it's like you just switched the D Activator X out for a Tone Zone. I play everything from blues to hardcore, and I can utilize this pickup for both of those and everything in between. Absolutely unbeatable if you play hardcore or metal specifically, and especially at this price, I mean, C'MON!
I bought this p.u. because I had heard that it was DiMarzio's verzion of an E.M.G. style p.u.! First let me say that I adore DiMarzio's p.u.'s My first was a p.bass replacement way back in 1979. OOPs I just let slip how ancient I really am. Oh well many bass and six string guitars with DiMarzio's later, I buy this for the bridge position of a paul copy. I was blown away!! Simply put CLARITY, OVERTONES, BEAUTIFUL HIGH AND MID RANGE RESPONSE!! What more can I say? Signed,P. Weird.
Let your freak flag fly! This pickup rocks! If you play with alot of gain, this pickup doesnt get that annoying "muddy" sound. The highs as well as the lows and mids are very balanced. I put this pickup in a old Charvel and it really woke the guitar up. Its designed very close to (and actually looks like) the DiMarzio X2N but the D Activator X is really easy to manage in low distortion or clean channel applications. Its extremly versitile if you use the split/parallel mode. You will need to pay attention to the pickup hieght when mounting. Too close to the strings on the bass side will create a nasty oscillating tone. Once dialed in though, LOOK OUT!
