Overview

The DiMarzio DP207 is a high-output bridge humbucker designed for the extended low end and heavy chords that dropped tuning delivers, plus serious treble response for single-note solos and standard tuning. The D Sonic guitar pickup isn't just a one-sound guitar pickup, either. In addition to the standard series humbucking sound, the patented design utilizes 4-conductor wiring to access 2 different single-coil sounds plus parallel humbucking mode, for 3 additional sounds that are distinctive and versatile. Recommended for solidbody guitars, bridge position.

Those of you familiar with DiMarzio history will note the visual resemblance to the old MegaDrive, but the design is completely different. Installation direction makes a noticeable difference in the sound, particularly with overdriven amps. With the solid bar toward the bridge, the sound is a little brighter and better-defined, and this is the direction DiMarzio recommends for heavy strings and low tunings. With the adjustable polepieces toward the bridge, the sound is warmer and a touch louder and this works best for standard tuning and more solo-oriented playing. Each coil has a unique tonal character, so the 2 split sounds are different, and parallel humbucking produces a third, clean and bright sound.

Comments about DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup:

I bought this pu to compare with my Duncan Tb6 , it was great, and I sold the TB6 right away. the D Sonic is much brighter and better, very "clarity", the clean signal is very nice, and pretty brutal at the drive Totally love it!

Great pickup

By Jason Steck

from Little Rock, AR

Comments about DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup:

ive had this pickup in my ec-1000 for about 6 months, and it sounds much better than the emgs that came with it in my opinion. It remains clean even after drop tuning and distortion. I would recomend this pickup to people who want a clean distortion sound.

hella cool pick up

By Eric

Comments about DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup:

I bought the D-Sonic as a replacement for the stock bridge pup in my Ibanez RS440. This is a great pick up. It's a versatile pup at that too. By switching the pup around you get either a brighter sound for solo's or more wholesome sound for rhythm. Thats just normal wiring. It keeps a lot of clarity in the notes even when playing tuned down. It has a nice bright sound when running clean. I highly recommend this pup to anyone looking to enhance their guitar sound.

Petrucci Here I Come

By Hirunoko

from St.Louis

Comments about DiMarzio DP207 Drop Sonic Pickup:

If you want that John Petrucci tone from their more recent albums - this is your bridge pickup! I love the heavy, yet clear sound it gets when distorted, and yet it cleans up very nicely when needed. Great ability to split coils, and not too noisy in single coil mode!
