Overview

Designed for maximum impact and power-to get a tight, aggressive, loud sound. It incorporates a patented dual-resonance coil configuration that senses more harmonic overtones than ordinary humbuckers. Works in almost all solidbodies and most semi-hollowbodies as well. Though specifically created for Steve Vai's Ibanez Jems, it can add a lot of punch to Les Paul and similar set-neck guitars. Makes the lowest notes jump out of the amp, and feedback occurs easily with a wide range of harmonic overtones.

Nice compliment to my DP100

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

I bought these for a neck compliment to my DP100 in the bridge; works great for the way I play. I generally only use my neck pickup for leads.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

I bought the Evolution bridge pickup 15 years ago and put it in my 2000 Ibanez 570 and paired it with a PAFpro in the neck position. The evo sounds incredible but the PAF sounds like mud.I finally replaced it with the Dp150 evolution neck pickup and magic! it's like having two guitars in one. My only regret is that I waited so long.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

I bought the DP159 Bridge PU first and later added the DP 158. My LP Studio is a good piece of wood with a great finish, so I decided to trick it out with all the trimmings. This guitar holds its tuning better than any guitar I own, so I decided to upgrade it to performance standards. The, original pickups (490R and 490T) were noisy and muddy. After tons of research and considering style (Hard/Progressive Rock) , preferred strings (heavy), amp (high gain tube), effects, etc., the Evolution set won out. I am extremely pleased with the responsiveness of the volume and tone knobs on the guitar after replacement. Before, it was minimal at best. The EVO's also rid the guitar of noise (hiss and hum), something I've fought with since owning the guitar, and another reason for not using it on stage. These are VERY CLEAN high output pickups and exactly what I needed to make the guitar stage worthy.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

Sounds great and matches the power of the bridge version. It's not as wild as the bridge, but it gives a reliable alternative tone when working with effects, so you are not switching pedals for different pickups.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

I replaced my stock pickups in my main Ibanez with the Evo bridge and neck pickups and it is louder! Improved overall sound quality and tones I get out of it. Very versatile in playing styles, it's very crisp and clear, every little mistake can be heard with these. I definitely recommend them, gonna order another set later this month for my back up Ibanez.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

There's a few go to neck pick ups for me & this is one. It's articulate yet smooth. It's the perfect companion to the EVO middle & bridge. This set gives you the best of all worlds. From aggressive bridge output to chimey cleans & Trower single coil tones to the smooth, clear neck pickup that splits well & gives you a convincing bell like neck/middle strat tone. I highly recommend this pickup (the entire set too)

              Great Pickup!

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

Very nice sounds and I am really impressed with the tone that this pup puts out. This thing was put into an old Ibanez GIO GRX20 guitar because I wanted to HOTROD it. I am running it in standard series mode for more output. The tones are still very clean in series mode but with a little added bass boost that blends nicely! ...I also paired this pickup with the Dimarzio Evolution Bridge pup.You can really play any style of music that you want...blues tones are easily achieved with this bad boy as well as sweet solos. Believe me, my lil' Gio is now my favorite guitar. (Thinking about putting these in my Ibanez ART 300 or my Schecter Damien!) FYI -You can get really nice aggressive tones with both Evolution pickups when you use the DR Dimebag 10-52 strings. You'll love this pickup!

              One clear pup!

              By JPAX7

              from Rio Vista, Texas

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 EVOLUTION NECK PICKUP BLACK AND WHITE REGULAR:

The Evo neck pickup would have to be one of the BEST neck pup's I've EVER heard!!! In the higher registers it gives a very clear bright tone. In the lower registers, it doesn't get muddy at all even with high gain chording! Its all warm brilliance! Mind you, I'm playing through the mutt of all guitars, the Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Basswood body and Mahogany neck, an odd combo, but the mahogany neck warms up the basswood body enough that the tone is decadent. Even when played through a solid state Peavey Vypyr 15 its got a beautiful distinct tone... played through my old Peavey VT Deuce 100W on the clean channel, its awe-inspiring! Beware though... it WILL show every mistake you make and will bring out the crazy neuances of your playing style and technique. Overall, a great pickup for both beginners and veterans alike.
