Thick sound

By Humungo Bass Monster

from San Diego, CA

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I used this set of Dimarzio Model J pickups to replace the ones on my Fender Standard Jazz Bass. It was a major improvement, these pickups sound huge and don't have any of that single coil hum. I tried other pickups later like Bartolini and Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders that cost alot more and ended up putting these ones back in.

New bass

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I wanted to turn my squier vintage mod jazz into a new instrument. These pickups were a gigantic improvment over the duncan design pups. Got rid of the 60 cycle hum and sound rich and full. The bridge pup is punchy for things like jazz. The middle pup is thick like a p bass pickup for things like rock and blues. Overall great pickups, wonderful value.

Great pickups

By RD_Artist

from Alpharetta,Ga.

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I installed a set of these in my Standard Jazz bass, and I am well pleased with the results, gone is the 60 cycle hum but you still retain that classic Jazz Bass sound but more articulated. My guitar tech wants me to bring the bass back in so he can install some push/pull pots and wire the pups for coil tapping,I have not decided if I want to do that yet, because I am so pleaded withe results as they are now. Bottom line these are a great set of replacement pups and a very good value.

Transform your bass

By zeppelinbass95

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I have squier vintage mod. jazz bass and the pickups were pretty good, but these were the change i was looking for. They are very full and deep. If you love the feel of jazz basses but lean more towards p bass sound these are the pickups for you. A+

These pups are awesome

By Mark

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

I just installed the dp123's in my fretless El Fendero Jazz bass and what a difference. They fit right in without having to reszize the hole. Took about an hour and it's like a new instrument now.

Low and Mean

By Silvertripper

from Houston, TX

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

These grown a little more than the stock pups. I'm able to hear all harmonics resonate instead of the dead ping with the stock pups. These Dimarzio's give me stronger tone throughout the range... bottom, mids, and silky smooth highs.

Just a tad short of what I expected HOWEVER !!!!!

Comments about DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set:

Been playing bass since 1975. Had many basses and of course just few stood up to be favorites. The 1973 Fender P-Bass I had was my favorite of all. Fool I am, I sold it. But my quest to get something that had that tone never stopped. Well, finally I got the right mix of Bass, Pickups and strings. I purchased a Fender P with a Jazz neck and it was a Deluxe Special. Plays well and did have the growl with the P Pickups. But, still, looked to improve the tone from there. Thinking back at the 73 bass, I used a Dimarzio pickup at the bridge ( Don't remember the model # ) and it had the original 62 p pickups for the P. So, I purchased the Fender 62 reissue pickups. THAT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE DONE ! WOW ! Those pickups gave me back the growl, Smokey tone and you can say woody tones. Got extremely close to the 60 bass tones including Motown is I wanted. NOW, to bring out the rest of the tones, I gave these Dimarzio DP123 a shot. This pickup blows away by a few miles the Fender noseless. However, when used by itself, it lacks balls bottom end. The bottom end is there, clean and articulate, but lacks beef. The thing that's works for me is when I blend the two pickups.(The 62 fenders p's and the Dimarzio ) There is when the two work well together. Full max on each pickup had this 80's tone bass. Not punchy but very articulate to any playing and tight. But when you back off the vol on the Dimarzio, it can control the tone and give more upper rings to the P bass pickups. I'm actually gonna stick with these for now. I have faith it will stand out during the shows. If I was to recommend these to anyone, I'd say yes. They are pro pickups.

Significantly increased the output of my late 80's Epiphone Rock Bass. Impressed with the harmonics produced and overall tonal structure. No hum!!! Installed and played for hours, just like new again!! Thanks Guitar Center for your quick and painless delivery
