No pickup fits best with my rutine better than this. Im not exactly a lead guitaist, so this works perfectly for me.they can switch in and out of distortion in a heart beat, and when we get to the ballad they sing like an orchestra. In final words they rock, no matter what kind of music you play.

I love Dimarzio pickups. I put this in the bridge of a custom 6 lb strat body and is was way too much given the weight and resonance of the guitar. Great loud heavy metal sound but no other kind of dynamic. Was not thrilled with how it sounded as a single coil. This would be better suited in a light, perhaps basswood, bodied guitar that is used for heavy metal. That being said a neck pickup to go with it should be comparable to its output. I switched to a Tone Zone and love it!

Classic sound

By Richard Self

from Kazoo, Michigan

If you're hesitant about picking a pickup don't be with this one. It's been around forever for a reason, paired with a PAF in the neck the Super Distortion delivers tried and true sound that can't be beat. I use this pickup exclusively in the bridge of all my guitars, it's got a great bite.

Super Distortion = Classic Rock Sound

By MrKnowaLiittle

from Chicago Illinois

I just had one of these DP100s put in the bridge position of my Les Paul Standard and couldn't be more thrilled. This pickup gives me the ultimate Classic Rock tone. Think of mid seventies Zeppelin or Thin Lizzy. This PUP sounds especially fantastic thru a tube amp as it's high output pushes my Marshall to break-up even at low volumes. The end result is thicker dirtier single notes and nasty growling power chords. If you want "tightly focused searing sustain for your solos and raunchy overdrive from your amp" this is the one to buy.

great but...

By Ian

from Olathe

Took out my Evolution bridge & put this in its place. Sounds fine, but hard of get rid of all the feedback & humming. When trying to get professional recordings, unless it's full-on heavy metal, you may not want this. You'll have to run tons of Gate to cover up all the humming & feedback etc. I have to junk this pick-up & switch back to my Evolutions.

Boston flavor....

By John Nail

from Kennewick,WA.

I got this Pup to go in an LP which I was modding to get that "Boston" Tom Scholz sound....it delivered and then some. Massive crunch and smooth unending sustain on a gained Marshall. John - Washington

The One and Only

By Charles Gray

from Raymore MO

I bought an old original 70's SD at a guitar show for 5 bucks, not knowing for sure what it was. I put it in the bridge position of my 335. I had always heard about how good they sounded, but never owned one. WOW, it was the tone I had looked for years, fat bottom. great mid, & not all thin & brittle on the top. Everyone says there too hot, just back them down off the strings for less power. I since have them in all 7 of my guitars, some split, some not. By the way, they sound good as a single coil.

Great Frikkin' Tone!

By Gary Jameson

from Wichita, KS

I owned a Guild S-300 with ash body and maple neck that came stock with these pickups. I was pleased to note that they sounded very similar to the 490 and 498 Gibson pickups with Alembic Hot Rod kits installed in my old SG! The Super Distortion pickups never disappointed, whether playing clean or with ANY level of overdrive/distortion. I was worried that they would be too treble-y with the ash and maple, but the tone was fat and ripping, with just the right amount of mid-boost and a tight low-end.

cleans up nicely

By montana

from danville in

i have heard very good thing about this pickup when i bought it i was afraid that it wouldnt live up to the hype but fear not it met and exceded all of my expectations. it is a hot sounding pickup but is also fat for a blusey tone. unlike other pickups of this caliber it is not overwound so it cleans up nicely so it sounds just as good clean as overdriven this is a great pickup especialy for the price

80's Metal

By Leonardo Monteiro

from So Paulo, SP

If you're into 80's Metal and is looking for a PU that cleans up nicely when volume is rolled back and provides full, balanced tone with lots of harmonics when used with an overdriven tube amp, this is the PU for you.
