Get the humbucker that John Petrucci of Dream Theatre has spent decades perfecting.

One thing has stayed consistent throughout John Petrucci's long and successful career: the DiMarzio pickups in his guitars. John has been pushing the envelope of progressive rock since the late eighties, and this DiMarzio LiquiFire Humbucker Pickup ensued from Dimarzio's most recent collaboration with John. He used this guitar pickup throughout Dream Theater's tenth studio album, Black Clouds & Silver Linings. John swears this is the best live and studio sound he has ever heard. He wanted a neck pickup with a flowing, singing solo tone when used with a heavily overdriven amp, plus a clear chord sound with a clean amp setting.

The DiMarzio DP227 guitar pickup is recommended for the neck position but can also be used in bridge position.

As reviewed by David on 6/22/2011

I ordered my liquifire pickup a moth ago and finally i instaled it in my ibanez rgt42 and wowwwwww its was incredible, super clean and warm tone, perfect for cruchy rythm and very clean solos, i have it in with the breed bridge pickup and its a pretty nice conbination, if u are thinking to get a very warm, clean, and with high gain tone, this is your best choise :D

  • Dream Articulation & Tone!!

As reviewed by Steven Waters on 2/1/2010

Anyone familliar with John Petrucci's work can tell you that he has awesome technique, tone and articulation! I ordered this along with the bridge crunch lab pickup to pop into a Sterling JP50 (Budget Petrucci model) as direct-mount replacements. This pickup delivers EXTREMELY good articulation with a lot of headroom for single note picking. It has a very warm and 'hot' tone for both cleans, grunge distortion, and high-gain lead. The pickup's versatility shines all throughout the neck, (not just on notes above the 8th fret like most neck pickups. As the description says, you can also use this pickup in the bridge position, and I will definitely consider ordering two more of these to pop into one of my other guitars as a set! - (It's that good!) Earlier tonight, I compared this pickup to my ESP guitar that has an EMG85 in the neck position with an 18v conversion.(Super-Hot Sound with a lot of headroom) The Liquifire had MORE OUTPUT! and a clearer more full sound - It doesn't mess around! I cannot say enough good things about this pickup. DiMarzio and Petrucci have definitely done some very good work in designing this pickup. Pick one up and play one for yourself! :)
