I purchased the Chopper for my Mexican Standard Strat. I love the look and feel of this guitar, but could never get a good lead sound out of the stock bridge pickup. The Chopper worked out great! It's brighter than most humbuckers, but doesn't sound harsh or shrill. It has medium gain, so it blends in well with the other (single-coil) pickups on this guitar. Harmonics are excellent, sustain is much improved, and the tone is very well balanced between bass/mids/highs. It can easily cover Texas Blues, Rock, and old school Metal. Think of it as a warm, hum-free single-coil on steroids.
I use the Chopper in the mid position of my "Strats" with stunning results. This pick-up exhibits the characteristics of the single coil it replaces, with increased output and a touch more mids. The bass is never mushy and the highs remain crisp, all that without the noise and the magnetic pull of vintage alnico magnets!
I recently added this pickup in the middle position of my used Yamaha and am extremely happy with it. It's name is misleading, this is a nice clear PUP with excellent high, mid and low response. It has a very warm tone and the rail design give you great string annunciation even through hard bends no sound loss or weakness. In fact I like it so much I bought another to have on hand!
