The DiMarzio Area Model Prewired Pickguard is for electric guitars with standard 11-hole pickguards. It's got an Area '58 pickup in the neck, Area '67 in the middle position, and an Area '61 at the bridge.
Area '58
The Area '58 offers excellent treble response and dynamics with little magnetic pull and virtually no hum.
Area '67
In the middle position, the Area '67 pushes sounds like the single-coil pickups of the late '60s—bright and very clean. The Area '67 totally eliminates hum and offers reduced magnet pull for improved sustain and clarity.
Area '61
Finally, the Area '61 in the bridge position brings a steely, yet woody sound to the table. As with the other two pickups, the Area '61 eliminates hum and features reduced magnet pull. These 3 guitar pickups combine to create unique, undeniably vintage tone.

I would first like to comment on the pickguard's solderless installation. This really couldn't be any easier, you snip the ground wires and the hot wire and screw them onto the new pickguard. It was easy and I feel the resulting connection is very good. They even include a nice screwdriver to accomplish the task. Understand though that if you need new screws to put the pickguard on, you will need to order some as it didn't come with any.
The pickguard itself is sharp looking and is 3-ply. The volume and tone pots as well as the 5-way switch seem to be of superior quality to the ones that came in my American Standard Strat.
As for the pickups:
These sound really great for noiseless. They sound more like single coils than any other noiseless I have heard. In addition, they are decidedly vintage sounding. I really like the combination of different year sounds to give me a lot of versatility. If you are looking for some super-high output pickups, these are not them. If you want something that sounds exactly like a single coil - get some fender custom shops and live with the 60-cycle hum. However, if you want something noiseless that sounds as close to vintage as possible, these are an excellent choice.
I bought this unit to replace the pickups in my Mexican Strat, which were noisy and too full of midrange. I could tell a big difference immediately when I began playing with these pickups. Great vintage tone and vibe, and while they're a lot cleaner than my stock pickups I feel that there's still a bit too much hum when not playing, and the output isn't as hot as I'd like. But, the Strat's in-between tone character really shines in the 2nd and 4th switch positions. A nice step up.
great upgrade for my mexi strat.....sound is day and night from the orginal...but they could have given me a new pickguard rather than one that looks like they picked outa the trash...many scratches and very worn lookin...but the sound is outstanding
