  • Tip when installing

As reviewed by Gary Tompkins on 12/31/2009

In response to the person you posted the first review. When you install this pot you should change the filter cap to something like .033uF. You may even want to go a step further and use a .047uF. Depends on your taste. The "Tone" control is relay an "equalizer" of sorts and forms a passive filter. The pot and capacitor go together and changing just one part of the filter may give you less than desirable results.

  • VERY bright! But that might not be a good thing...

As reviewed by MakoAoyama on 10/4/2009

If you were looking to brighten up that guitar with extremely dark tones in it, this would be useful. If you think more=better, you'll be disappointed. I bought this mostly on a whim to see what it was like, along with a 500K in case I didn't like it. I initially put this in my project guitar I was working on, wired up with one volume knob and no tone pot. It's so bright in that guitar it makes it sound glassy when turned all the way up. If you turn it down a little it's better, a little more subdued. But it's very two sided. Rolling from 0 to 10 was like "same, same, same, same...BRIGHT", right on 10. There's no working up to it, it's just really bright at 10. I'm thinking of trying it in my LP clone soon to see how it sounds. Should be a little better, in theory. As a side note, I gave this 3 stars because if you play metal and have a good amp, this thing will push your distortion pretty crazy when rolled all the way up. I don't play metal, but if I did I'd keep this in my guitar, just for the extra juice it gives.

  • ATOMIC BOMB EQUIPMENT

As reviewed by WIKED1 on 2/22/2007

When I decided to make an atomic bomb out of my 7 string Ibanez, I bought the Evolution 7 for my bridge pickup and the D Sonic 7 as my neck pickup. Going an extra step further, I wired the whole guitar up with a Dimarzio setup. I used the Dimarzio 1 Meg Custom Taper Split Shaft Pot. Why the 1 Meg pot? To get a little more power and treble response from my axe.
