Overview

The DN-S3500 tabletop CD/MP3 player lets you perform freely as if you were using a real vinyl turntable thanks to its powerful 12-pole direct-drive brushless motor that delivers instant full rotation speed with a powerful 2.5kg/cm of startup torque within 0.5 seconds. Also, it comes with a spindle to tweak the pitch. Platter speeds are selectable from 33.3 or 45rpm.

This player is loaded with seven onboard effects, including flanger, filter (high-mid-low), echo, and the world's first echo/loop with a dry/wet mix knob, plus three platter effects: brake (adjustable in real time), dump (reverse sound without losing true forward time), and reverse (platter spins backwards).

Also features full MP3 support with seamless looping with B point trim; MP3 hot starts; frame search; memo to save your cue points and loops; support for C.B.R. and V.B.R. decoding up to 320kbps; ID3 tags to display title, artist, and album; ID3 BPM tag (automatically recalls the BPM); and an MP3 file search system that allows you to easily locate files by name or folder.

Now you can play files from the same disc back to back with the DN-S3500's next track reserve function with crossfade. You can search for a song by name without interrupting playback and crossfade seamlessly to that file for a smooth, nonstop mix. This player also lets you easily copy your perfect CD/MP3 seamless loop over to the sampler, even while it's playing. Get creative by exchanging your disc during sample playback, performing CD scratch overlays with the sampler, and many more cool tricks.

The DN-S3500 features a 2-way cue search system that supports traditional Denon cueing method as well as Pioneer's for whatever style you prefer. For DJs who perform long mixes, the DN-S3500 offers .02% for the 4% pitch range and .05% for the 10% pitch range. Two hot starts can be made on the fly and easily turned into seamless loops or used as stutter points.

This advanced player also features adjustable loop end point B trim, CD TEXT support, key adjust to keep music sounding true when track speed is adjusted, quick-loading slot-in drive, 2-way platter mode to scratch the CD source or the stored sample by the touch of a button with the active spinning platter, and a directional scratch lever to perform the same cuts as if you were using a mixer's crossfader. The 15-second sampler lets you sample any part of your CD/MP3 tracks on the fly and perform scratch overlays or even simple playback with full platter control and ±24% pitch control, B-trim, sampler volume, 4-way playback (loop/single/all/stutter)

I own a DN-S3500 and it is one of the best cd players out their. It is simple to use, ulike the Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 which is very complicated, and its good for the price. Its also has the feel of a real turn table, it move like if it was a record, so all you old school turn table fans this is it right here the DN-S3500. It also has a sampler which you can play while playing a song and you can also scrach the sample you sampled. Also the effects are very good and you can play 2 songs on this cd player. Oh and another thing thats good about this cd player is the pitch and the levels it has, so its good for you djs that chopp and screw music. So if your looking for a turn table but in cd players, i recomend the DN-S3500 a new simple version of a turn table.

I have had these bad boys for about 2 months. They perform well as long as they don't overheat. When they get hot, that's all she wrote. My Denon's start playing super fast when they overheat, which can cause an unexpected embarrassment and loss of $$$ if you play live. I have a few friends who have this same same problem which is why we are all switching. If you spin at home and only at home, and you keep them cool then it's a decent buy. These Denon's do feel and act like turntables. The Flanger and Echo features are great for mixing. Sampling feature is precise and can be edited. The features, on a whole are much better than many players on the market, but once this product overheats, look for your receipt. This is not a horrible product. It's just not made for a traveling/club DJ. When you try to call Denon and tell them about this problem, you will need your receipt. I am one of those sorry souls that always loses his receipts after a month so I am stuck with 2 heat sensitive machines.

They are a good buy, but....

By D woods

from oakland cali

I bought a pair and I really like them. As for all my turntables I use laptop fans to keep my gear cool. They seem to work pretty well and the fit perfectly under my turntables and in my crate. These do have a tendancy to get hot, but it is preventable if you do it right. I have spun with the Pioneer 1000's and 800's although they are the so-called industry standard, the Denon's are almost equal. If they had a better repair policy they would be excellent.

Great cd players...

By Haxor

from San Diego,CA

I love my Denons...they feel almost like real vinyl turntables! The effects and stuff are a cool plus, although I don't use them much since my mixer (DJM-400) has built in effects. I didn't have any overheating issues like others had, but my decks do have a lot of cue slippage. It makes scratching and beat juggling more difficult; Good thing i'm not a turntablist :). I wouldn't recommend this as a beginner system because of the price (I learned that the hard way). They are also bulky and annoying to carry around to mobile gigs. If you don't plan on moving them around too much and doing a lot of mobile gigs with them, then they are well worth the money!

Flawless!

By DJ Blindsighted

from Saint Louis

I have owned a pair of the 3500 for over a year and not once have they over heated. I am an old school DJ that always used vinyl and got tired of lugging around all my records, and these units have completly change my proformances. They feel, sound, and perform flawless and have tons of extra feachers to keep you pumped! 2 loops,a built in sampler, 7 great effects and you can even search for another track on the same CD while it is playing another song. These have been one of my best investments and trust me they are incredible!

Wonderful: No problems yet

By DJ S.P.A.D.E.

from New Jersey

I've had this CD Player for over a year now and have yet to experience any malfunctions. I've even used it outdoors for hours and still no malfunctions. I was told by a retailer that many complaints were made on this product so Denon decided to make some system corrections and have shipped out better 3500s and that the problems this product used to have are no longer issues. They must be right! So far I am really really happy. In my opinion, I think this is the best player on the market. I find it even better than the Pioneers even though many people do not agree. What makes this player better is features and spin platter plus it's wayyyy cheaper. Only flaw I can provide is that you cannot really use a mark point because the cue doesn't always return to the marked point. It's better to play it by ear. The pioneers are better when it comes down to the cue point.

I've done the research

By BrianK

from NJ

for the money this is the best unit i could recomend! Its more user friendly then its big brother and also considered to be a better product. As for its rival the cdj 800 it depends what you want to use it for. The scratch pad has a vinyl feel but WILL NOT always return to the same cue point that you started at.. ONLY PROBLEM I'VE FOUND with this unit... DNS vs CDJ I'd pick this one again...

DN-S3500 is one of the best

The best

By DJ LV

from the valley, CA

This is the first pair of digital cd turntables I have purchased. I started on vinyl, and for me The DN-s3500's offer great technology and features, while keeping the DJ experience more interactive with the vinyl feel it gives. I love the platter effects as well as the built in effects that are all easy to use. I lvoe it!

OVERHEATING

By GT

from DC

Feature wise, the DNS-3500 is a decent buy. The main problem with this product is it overheats on A CONSISTENT BASIS! EVEN IN COOL ENVIROMENTS!!! It also skips a lot, EVEN WITH BRAND NEW CD'S, FRESH OUT THE PACKAGE!!! The rack mounted Denon cd players that I've used in the past have a lot less feature's, but most importantly, THEY WERE RELIABLE!!! They never overheated & never skipped. RECOMMEND THE PIONEER MK3'S. They seem to be the industry standard.

DENON DN-3500

By Juan

from Summit, IL

Denon DN-3500 is the BEST to me(Juan). I own a set of these CD Turntables and to me is the BEST. The feel of the turntable, the knobs, the lights, WOW! The only defect I see is the little plastic that holds the plastic disc on the turntable. For some reason they break because when you slide it into place it tends to open so it can stay in place. The good thing about it is it does come with a spare or two but then those go weak. Other then that to me it works great. GOOD JOB DENON, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!
