Denon's DN-HD2500 is an all-in-one portable DJ center designed to accommodate the shift the DJ's shift away from vinyl towards digital media. The 2500 turntable is a powerhouse that gives the DJ the familiar feel of old school methods with the versatility of the new media.

This digital turntable houses dueling CD/MP3 spinners and a shock-resistant internal 2.5-inch hard drive for any music collection. The ability to connect additional devices from virtually all-existing storage media, including iPods, external HDs and USB flash drives allows for infinite extensions to the library.

A small screen in the center allows for setup, queuing, and beat matching. The Denon 2500 comes complete with Music Manager software. Included is a highly refined search system which allows user to navigate through any files connected to the system with criteria including playlist, artist, album, title, genre, year, and BPM. Other features include scratching, seamless looping, and a ton of special effects.

A final version of this product has been released as of June, 2008. To see all upgrades and feature changes, go to: http://www.denondj.com/prod_manuals.asp?assetid=DN-HD2500

It Does Exactly What It Says It Does

Three stars because somebody thought they were buying a rack mounted iPod is totally unfair. Complaining about buying it & not realizing you need a mixer is like buying an electric guitar & complaining that you need a guitar amp. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the hard drive is so small. You can hook an external hard drive to it, but there are other USB devices too choose from that don't cost as much. So for the price the reason you would choose this is because of the internal hard. I highly recommend this for any mobile DJ who wants to add a versatile hard drive in their rack to complement their DN-D4500.

It works but some details were "left out"

Just got the Denon DN-HD2500 as a gift. It is possible that my current criticisms can be attributed to the fact that I am totally unfamiliar with this line of products. I basically want to entertain my family and friends on special occasions so I’m not trying to make a living doing this. I liked the idea of not having to wait for my current 200 disc CD changer to moan and click and moan between each song, with this I’m able to fluidly go from one track to another. Oh wait, no I can’t, they leave out that you also need a MIXER in order to fade from one song to another (or one side of the component to the other). The mixer will also have other neat features you need like volume control, mike inputs, etc. Because of the looks of it on-line and all those fancy buttons, I (like an idiot) assumed a cross fader and volume controls were amongst them. I love the hard drive, and the capacity seems great for my usage. Another fine detail that they didn’t stress, is that the deck only downloads MP3’s. Not Itune normal settings or wav’s, etc. Of course, I have 500 albums in my Itunes library that are not compatible with the requirements of the deck, so after trying to use software to convert the m4a’s and wmv’s into mp3’s, it still didn’t work ( the song would go, but not the artist, track name, etc.). So, I’ll spend the next few months reloading my CD collection on my computer into the mp3 format it likes best. The instruction booklet was amazingly worthless given its size and thickness, and because it’s so new, no one in the two stores that sold it in my town knew anything about it. For you other literal readers out there, it is not an “all in one portable DJ center”. The Music manager program is picky about what it uses, and is not intuitive at all. If all of your music is already “in your computer” and not in mp3 format, I haven’t found a way to get it properly in the hard drive. However, once the music is in, and its hooked up to the other stuff you need, it works great!! All in all, I think the ultimate positive will outweigh the negatives.
