I was a little skeptical of this overdrive, but I just "went for it". For the money, it is definitely worth it. Looks and is built like the expensive overdrives, but is a lot cheaper... The sound was amazing when I plugged it in! I use a Boss FV-500H volume, Danelectro Fab Tone, and Zoom G1xn (about to be traded for a Garage Tone Delay) and now the Tube overdrive... It creates an amazing sound! This is a light overdrive that goes great for stuff by itself and stacking it with another distortion pedal. Creates a little crunch when gain is all the way up, but it is a light overdrive.

I picked this up a few months back. I really liked this pedal initially. It had a nice tubescreamer tone, but for 1/3 of the price! The other reviews give great descriptions. I play a MIM strat into a SS fender amp. Main reason I bought this pedal was because I lacked the funds for a better quality overdrive and was impatient. I feel I should have waited. After playing this for about an hour, I noticed that my tone became very colored when the effect was and WAS NOT engaged. A big reason I bought this was the true-bypass, so my tone would not change when the effect was not engaged. I do not know if this is a defect, or just a factor of the pedal. My other true-bypass pedals sound fine, so it is not my setup. This factor really killed the pedal for me. This is a good starter pedal, but try it out before you buy it.

Some Chance of Fate

By Miike

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

When I went to the store I had the intention of buying the Rock Distortion Pedal, but they were all out so the guy who was at the counter gave me this instead. Let me say I'm glad I spent my money on this, because the effect is nice and meaty. Though the Distortion would have probably been fun, this pedal is just as, if not better, as the rock distortion. Every time I plug in my guitar I have to use this pedal, one because its fun to use, two because I just love the sound. In other words if you enjoy playing classic rock, metal, alternative even punk. This pedal is smart, definatly worth the money.

DeltaLab Tube Drive T01

By Dave

from Temecula Calif.

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I purchased the T01 after having used the RD1 for quite a few months and being very happy with its build quality, features and tone. A different animal tonally than the RD1 but exceptional at the sonic spectrum it does cover. Not quite as bass heavy and does not have as much gain as the RD1, having said that the TD1 is more transparent and is quite an articulate sounding pedal. I have many overdrives to compare it to so it has been in competition with some much more expensive ovredrives for that most coveted ( blank space on the pedalboard.) I like the layout of the DeltaLab pedals with the power adapter input on the top of the unit out of the way of the guitar in and out. Also the true bypass and nice rubber bottom pad. It's all real simple but very effective and its nice tone is the icing on the cake. I run mine with the gain fairly low (below half way) as I feel the notes lose a bit of snap and clarity with the gain all the way up. If I could change anything about the TD1 it would be to add bit (just a bit) more bass to the fundamental tone. I compensated for this by adjusting the bass on my amp a bit, surprisingly all the other pedals on my board still sound great with the increased bass. You can spend a lot more and get a lot less! I run my pedals through an EL84 based tube amp. I get a nice Stevie Ray type tone out of this pedal with a Strat and the neck pickup cranked. With the pickup selector in position 2 it amazingly gets a nice Larry Carlton vibe. No complaints here...real nice pedal for the money. I have 20 other overdrives ranging in price from 40 to 200 bones.

Who's the boss

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I traded my Boss Super-Overdrive and Blues Driver and bought this. I did not want to spend the money on a Tube Screamer so I got this instead. Well worth it too. Better than the Boss overdrive pedals. It give you the little extra crunch that Boss lacks. I have the Deltalab Stereo Chorus too, and that is just as good. These boxes are made to withstand anything, and velcro sticks on the back too.

This little pedal can scream or growl!

By David

from Midland, MI

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal with only one intention: using it to drive my amps distortion further. I use anything from a Line 6 Spider III to a Mesa Boogie Roadster, and let me tell you, this little pedal is worth every single penny! At the price, I just wanted to test it out, since I'm kinda a pedal nut. But let me tell you, the sounds I get out of this pedal make me wonder either why it was mispriced at a measly 40 bucks or why they don't sell as good as I think they should. I will not ever give up this pedal that I can foresee. I used an Ibanez Tube Screamer before this, but I absolutely fell in love with the sound this pedal makes. I can get a screamin overdriven sound with enough punchy gain to almost rip a hole in time itself. Or just crank up the gain and down the tone, for a wicked modern rock tone. LOVE IT! Buy, I personally assure you, that you won't be let down.

Little Green Beauty

By Jon

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

For 40 bucks, this pedal gives me more than any other OD/distortion pedal i've owned and more. With the gain down low you get a simple boost for just a little more oomph to push through the speakers, with it dimed you get a nice warm, smooth overdriven sound with just enough of a dirty crunch for any type of classic rock sound with all kinds of juicy harmonics that jump out all on their own. Throw in some pinch harmonics and you can really make your guitar scream. This pedal will be in my rig for a long time to come. Get one IMMEDIATELY!

Good stuff for the price!

By B-man

from Springfield, MO

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am thoroughly impressed with the tone and quality of this pedal. The case and knobs/pushbutton are high quality and really durable. I bought this as an alternative to a tube screamer, which I couldn't afford, and I have not been disappointed. It has a very organic tube sound and really shines as a vintage style tube distortion. The only thing that I wish it would accomplish is clean boost. It is nearly impossible to get a clean tone with my Les Paul, Valve Junior, & this little fella. But, don't let that dissuade you from buying this pedal. It does a glorious job of doing just what it says. A lot of the "boutique" pedal builders could learn a few things about value from the folks at Deltalab. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of their pedals based on this one. Buy it.

A Gem

By Gordon Kaswell

from Eugene, OR

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I was looking for a warm, creamy sounding overdrive pedal that would produce bluesy and Gilmour-esque lead tones, as well as crunchy chords that would retain sparkle and coherence without being papery or fizzy. I had a limited budget, so a boutique pedal was out of the question. I bought and returned a number of pedals in my search, and finally gave the TO1 a try. The longer I played it (at the Guitar Center) the more impressed and pleased I became. With the typical three knob configuration (Gain, Tone, and Level) it was easy to explore the range of tonal possibilities--everything from a mild boost just on the verge of breakup, to soaring rock and blues lead riffs. Some pedals just suck the life out of your tone, but not this one. There's a slight bass rolloff, but it's about the right amount to make sure you'll cut through the mix, and there's no pronounced mid-range hump. The pedal sounds good on its own. Run your guitar into this little green gem, and out into a delay and/or chorus unit, and you'll be grinning! If you are into metal levels of distortion, other pedals will probably suit you better, but if you're into Rock and Blues, this one's a keeper.

TO-1 Overdrive

By Ed

from Rochester, NY

Comments about DeltaLab TO1 Tube Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

To call this an overdrive is somewhat misleading. An overdrive pedal typically refers to a pedal designed to preserve the tone of the signal and push the front end of your amp harder while also adding some of its own distortion as well. That said, this pedal has a very warm, vintage sounding drive to it. The tone sweep goes from a very bass centric, somewhat muffled and warm tone to a kind of Tubescreamer cranked vintage sound when all the way open. Cleans up reasonable well with the volume knob on the guitar, and wide open has a strong sound to it. Very subdued drive though. Warm and fuzzy, classic rhythm sounds are what its best at. A good buy for the price.
