I usually do not write reviews, but having had three problems, I made an exception for this product. I purchased the tuner about six months ago at Guitar Center. When I told the sales person that I need a clip-on tuner, he recommended this one because he said it was the best one they had in the store. Problem 1: About three months ago while I was playing my guitar, the tuner simply catapulted from the head of the guitar. Upon retrieving it I noticed that one of tabs on the clip section simply became detached. When I examined the tab more closely, I noticed that the plastic material was soft and crumbling. When I returned the tuner to the Guitar Center, the sales person was somewhat reluctant to replace it, likely concluding that I may have possibly abused it, but eventually replaced it. Problem 2: As I recall, even when the original unit was new, it was slow to respond to low E. Recently, with the replacement unit I noticed that I really have to pluck the low E quite hard to get the tuner to respond. As a matter of reference, I would estimate that I now have to pluck the low E about three to four times as hard as the other strings. Problem 3: Recently I also noticed that the swivel on the clip section was getting loose and that it would barely hold the display section in place without turning. Fortunately, I was able to detach the rubber pad sufficiently to access the retaining screw and tighten it slightly. Regarding my rating, considering (1) that this tuner cost $29.99, (2) that I recently I purchased a new Snark SN-5 tuner for $11.71, (3) that the Snark matches the performance side by side, and (4) that the Snark exceeds the performance on the low E string, it appears that either I have a defective unit or that there may be better tuners for the money. However, the Delta Lab CT-30 does have the metronome feature that the Snark SN-5 does not, so my cost comparison is not entirely accurate considering the difference in features.

Clip broke

By ERIC

from Detroit, MI

The clip snapped off after about three months of very light use at home. I will say that GC was very generous about exchanging it (long after the 30-day warranty expired). I'm in the market for a new one and I will definitely NOT consider this brand again.

This tuner is Amazing! It can be turned so that you can view it at any angle on your guitar. It can also be used on mandolin which is a big plus. It has a great looking easy to understand. Overall a great tuner

Just bought it and the clip broke off the first time I used it, a weak component and easily broken.

Good for a while but then...

By Don Freeman

from Pleasant Hill, CA

I'm ambivalent about this tuner. When it is working it is a good little tuner. Unfortunately it goes wonkers after a while. I have two of them, I bought the second because the arm broke off, it is a weak component and easily broken. I was able to epoxy the shortened arm back on the unit so for a while I had two working units. But soon, one after the other exhibited the screen problems others have mentioned. Taking the battery out and replacing it fixes it until it has to be turned on again but the whole point of having this type of tuner is for quit tuning and having to do the battery shuffle kinda defeats its purpose.

Inconsistent

By Vincent Kelemen

from Ponte Vedra Bch, Fl

I bought this tuner on the advice of a Guitar Center employee. It worked well for a while but then started crapping out on me. One minute, it's working great, the next it's gone into a different mode, whether the tuning is reading A441 or the flat symbol is lit. All of this during a gig. Keep in mind, the only button I have hit is the on/off button. The problem is when I turn this tuner on and it's in one of these modes, I'm only looking at the tuner, I'm not paying much attention to the small icons below. This is down dime between songs and I HATE downtime between songs at a gig. I do have another tuner on my pedal board but may not be at my pedal board, that's why I keep this clipped on. I've had this tuner for a while and if it continues to be an issue I guess I'll pick up a snark. $11 on Amazon Prime.

CT30 clip-on tuner not as good as the CT10

By ron flory

from huntsville, al

I recently bought a CT30 tuner as a spare and find that its not as sensitive as their CT10 model. Most of the time this CT30 wont even recognize the high-G string of my banjo, at any volume. I find the flat/sharp tuning indication to be inconsistent with the CT30, but very accurate and consistent on the CT10. I spoke with a salesperson at the local guitar store, and he said several other people had reported similar problems with the CT30.

Great response but unreliable

By Kenneth Fiester

from Maryland

I've been using these for years now. I play five string bass, and this tuner has the best response of any clip-on tuner I've tried (all have been within its price range of around $30). With my rock band I tune a half-step flat, and it can tune the low Bb string. Also, it seems sturdy enough: I've never had the clip or swivel arm break. Unfortunately, this product is unreliable. As others have noted, buttons can become stuck or the display can become unusable. Removing/replacing the battery can often fix this, but not always. I've owned five of these tuners and three have experienced problems. Guitar Center is great about honoring the factory 1 year warranty, but I suggest the extended warranty if you choose this tuner.

When it works it is fine

By MARK ARCHAMBAULT

from Boston, MA

I bought this tuner a less than a year ago and it has been inconsistent at best. When the tuner works, it is very nice. However, occasionally the on button sticks, lighting up the whole screen rendering it useless. I would take the battery out and that seemed to fix it sometimes but it got worse over time. The final straw was the arm support snapped off. I can not recommend this product.
