Sweet tone and elegant looks.

The subtly elegant high-gloss finish, the ebony peghead overlay with mother-of-pearl inlay, and fancier binding on the resonator enhance the beauty of this sweet-toned banjo. Outfitted with the same genuine Deering tone ring, one-piece flange, and 3-ply rock-maple rim used in the Sierra and Greg Deering Limited models. The Deluxe offers the Sierra's sweet tone in a more elaborate banjo that's still modestly priced. Includes case ($180 value).

White and gold engraved inlays designed by Greg Deering adorn Deluxe banjo. It is a sweet sounding professional quality mahogany banjo with Deering's 20 hole -06- bronze tone ring, fast neck and comfortable feel. It's a beautiful step up from the Sierra with added detailing and high gloss finish. It is an inspirational banjo for the dedicated musician. The Deluxe was the third model of the Deering line, originally designed with simple Mother of Pearl Diamond inlays back in 1979 and embelished and upgraded to the beautiful new inlay pattern Greg Deering designed in the summer of 2009.

The Deluxe has a sweet singing professional quality tone. Easy to play with clarity and good note separation.
Tuned: G,D,G,B,D in standard tuning

Deering 5-Deluxe 5-String Banjo

Deering banjos with the lifetime warranty are only available through authorized Deering Dealers.

IF YOU BUY A "NEW" DEERING BANJO FROM A NON-AUTHORIZED DEALER, YOU HAVE PURCHASED A USED BANJO AND HAVE NO WARRANTY. When we send a Deering banjo to an authorized dealer, only that dealer or another authorized dealer can sell that banjo as new. If an authorized dealer sells a new Deering banjo to a non-authorized dealer, the non authorized dealer becomes the first owner and he becomes the bearer of the lifetime warranty; not a new dealer by transfer. When the unauthorized dealer sells that banjo to the consumer, even if it was never played or even touched, it is a used instrument and no longer carries the lifetime warranty. This is necessary so that we know how the banjo has been cared for between the time we ship it and the time that our customers buy it. We have no way of knowing how non-authorized dealers care for their instruments because we do not communicate with them. This also honors and protects the strong relationship between Deering and its treasured network of hard working Deering dealers. For your protection against theft and to ensure immediate proof of ownership, four digits of the serial number are visible on the back of the peghead on each banjo. The full serial number is inside the resonator. When you purchase a Deering banjo and send in the warranty card you will receive a Gold Credit card style ownership/warranty card. This gold card is embossed with your name and the serial number of your new banjo for easy identification. Take your Gold Card with you to festivals or when traveling so that if your banjo is ever stolen you can easily prove it's yours.

I have 6 banjos....I have a Gibson that is to good to play.....$$$$$ I wanted to find something I could play that had a real good seem as if the more money you pay the better the sound up to a point......this Deering 5 Deluxe is just don't need to spend time look for anything else.....I am not getting anything for telling you this....this is the best price banjo for the best sound......and if you didn't like they will take it back in 30 what have you got to loose....make sure this the model you get....if for some reason you wanted to sell it.....this one would sell easer than others.....It looks great and sounds you have to get really good at playing it....because you now have a banjo that says you must be a good player too....but even if you don't get out and play for can know you have something that will bring you a lot of fun over the years to come.....ask God to help you be a better player.....He will.....God bless you and your family.....Bob

  • WOW...

As reviewed by Tyler on 6/3/2008

I'm a 16 year old kid, and I had a cheap banjo that I started on, I don't even know the brand. It was okay, until I was allowed to play my teacher's banjo, this Deering one above. It sounded so great. For my birthday, and after a year and a half of learning, I was given this banjo by my parents. It is awesome sounding, but what else would you expect from Deering? This is not a starter banjo, only by this if you have been playing for a while, or expect to not give up. A bit expensive, but oh so worth it.
