It's a great but, simple. The one pickup has a variety on tones. The neck is thin and easy to get around. Tuners feel nice and mine hasn't gotten out of tune yet. And I've been playing pretty much non stop for a week. It also plays harmonics great. So if you want a reliable bass that will accompany your needs from beginner to expert and won't leave you bankrupt. This is for you.

I remember when I first got this bass .. Man was I in love .. With the color, style, neck, and especially the price on this type of guitar. Now that I've been playing for almost a year iam no longer a beginner .. now for having this for so long I have problems now like it loses tune fast, and it gets a little to rattaley at times. So this is why I say FOR BEGGINERS ONLY untill you upgrade into a better one .. Other than that the bass isn't that bad

Great For Beginners

By Kevin

from Pearland TX

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

When I bought this bass guitar, it was amazing. The design and style is incredible. The price isn't bad either for a bass like this. The only problem I've encountered was that the lowest fret for the E note string was a bit too low. The sound for it becomes rattling. This was the only error I've found so far, but overall, it's a great bass for beginners and pros.

Very Nice

By Erika. C

from Bakersfield, CA

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

It's very nice. It's kinda heavy. But I can fit my small hands around it. It came with a cable so no need to add one but the cable is thin so I bought a heavy duty one.

Great Bass

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

This bass is perfect. I am a drummer and I've been playing for 8 years. I decided I needed a bass to compose music and write for my band. There is no problems with the bass. Its great for the price.

Amazing Starter Bass

By Travis

from B-wood, CA

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

This bass is amazing if you need a good, reliable bass that doesnt leave your wallet as thin as a piece of paper. It is fun to play on, and offers a large range of tones and volume for the single pickup and two knobs. It is also very durable. I have accidentally banged it against a few things, and I cant see a single mark on it. The one downside is that the last few frets can be hard to reach because the neck goes a little further into the body then I would like. It is a great bass overall, and i would reccomend it to anybody looking to take up bass.

A Great, Lightweight Bass

By Alan McGarrity

from Phoenix, AZ

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

I play bass professionally in two working bands. My regular instrument is a Fender Jazz and I bought this to use as a backup. I "test-drove" several and picked the one I liked. It does a great job and I have even played gigs with it. It has great action, a wide variety of sounds and is a great value for the money. I enjoy the fact that it's comfortable and lightweight. I have come to the realization that it doesn't matter at all what the headstock says - if the instrument sounds good and you enjoy playing it, you've got a winner!

Definitely A Great Beginner Bass

By bassmsater153

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

I got this as my first bass, and i have to admit i was blown away when I plugged it into my amp. It handle's all styles well, from slap and pop to metal shredding. The pickup is great for practice, it stays in tune great, and has good tone. I'd recommend this to anyone just starting out playing.

amazing bass

By jared

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

When i got this bass 2 years a go i was thinking, ok its a good price so i might as well get it, but the more i played and used it i realized that this is one of the best basses I've played. i also own an ibanez bass and i prefer using my dean because of its reliability and deep solid sound. believe me if your on a tight budget or just want a good bass this should be at the top of your list. also i have gotten so many different sounds out of it. i play in an alternative metal band and this bass just delivers the right sound that we need. this is definitely an excellent bass.

Awesome

By Ivan

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

The bass is very simple....sounds great and deep...i am originally a drummer, but even before drums i always wanted to play bass and this bass is awesome for someone that is learning....not heavy at all...i use it for church..when i would see the pics of the bass it looked kind of evil, but in person the bass looks black and simple. i do recommend this bass...let me make a decision for you if your undecided yet "GET IT!!!"

Pretty good bass

By Brandon

from Dover, DE

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

I purchased this bass online not knowing what to expect. I already had an Ibanez ESD 405 that was given to me but it's five string and I wanted to be able to tune it for different songs I like to play. Besides, I wanted to have a 4-string just for practice. I was pretty surprised at the quality of sound that came out of this bass! The single pickup helps give you a variety of tones as well. I'm a pretty big dude so I find this bass to be very light in weight. The strings that come with the bass are also very light and save my fingers a lot of pain. My only complaint is that the strings are so light that I hear a lot of rattling when I play w/o my amp. I was able to eventually control the rattling though. It's probably just my inexperience. Overall, a great investment for beginners.

Fantastic. Almost.

By Jumpman

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

I play mostly guitar, but I needed a bass for my recordings. I picked this one up because it was cheap and on sale, and I don't regret it at all. It has a great sound to it, save for the rattling of the string on a select few frets, but you can't hear any of that in a recording, oddly enough. The only real problem with it is that the "in" jack is very loose, and my cable drops out when moved or bumped. If you're sitting still, this isn't a problem, but I wouldn't recommend this bass for live performances. I'm not sure how common this is, though, I don't hear many people complain of it. Overall, I think this is a great bass for anyone who is just starting out.

Pretty awesome

By Michael Benjamin

from Rockville, MD

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

This bass is the kind of bass that you can easily get used to because of its great price and great construction. I am in a band and i use this bass for practice and even in some shows because of its great tone variety. The neck is east to navigate, except for the fact that i've noticed that it is not easy to reach the 15th and on frets on the E and A strings which is not helpful when covering songs like ones from muse. Overall the bass is amazing just like most of dean's basses. Its not too heavy and it has a smooth fretboard. I recommend this bass for ALL beginners, and I recommend this bass to some seasoned bassists. Dont let the price fool you, this bass is top notch.

Freakin' Awesome!

By Scotty6Gun

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

Why pay more? I've owned Fender P-bass and Rickenbacher Stereo, this bass feels better and sounds better, don't ask me how. Punchy highs, pounding lows, great balance. Bridge was tuned for harmonics right out of the box.

Not up to par...

By Donavan

from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass two years ago and it's given me multiple problems since, especially when it came to the wiring. If you're buying a bass, even with the intentions of just jamming, this is not the bass to buy. Try showing up to a practice session and plugging in, only to find that all the wires are disconnected. Its just very unreliable. Trust me, if you're serious about playing bass, just splurge for a bass you can depend on.

I have played drums for many years and for a while now Ive been wanting to learn something new i already know how to play guitar so i wanted to try something different.I tried this bass because it was cheap and boy did I luck out! This is a very nice bass i would recommend it to begginners mostly though its only cut backs are the jack in part of it will fall out easly if bumped.

Comments about Dean Zone XM Bass Guitar:

This is a great bass. I really like it's color and it doesn't shine. It is the greatest (and so far only)bass I have ever had. It sounds very full and smooth. Unlike some basses and guitars in the light it looks black and gray, not purple. I see myself using this bass much in the future.
