I just got mine an hour ago and all that I can say is that......If this is Dean's lowest entry level guitar I cannot wait to see what their other more expensive ones are like. This is a very light guitar compared to my Les Paul. It sounds great and resonates forever... The absolute best bang for your buck if you are a beginner on a tight budget. The tuners are not the greatest but those can be changed for under $50.00. The sound is awesome.... I have played others costing 5 times as much and this one blows them away. I got this as a practice guitar that I would not have to care for and worry about as much as my Les Paul. I must say that I see my LP sleeping in it's case for awhile now. I work nights and when I get home I want to play without waking the wife or the baby. This guitar is perfect for that because it sounds great even without an amp. It is very very light though and the wood grain is just a graphic but who cares this thing absolutely rocks. Also if you get this one, do not expect the natural color to be as light as the photos of it because it is really much darker. SUMMARY: This guitar would be a great deal at $300.00. I just noticed that some sites are listing this as a clearance item so do not wait and order yours soon. I really expected at best an OK guitar for 100 bucks. I got one of the best sounding axes I have ever had. I have been playing for 16 years now and have owned over 20 guitars and would rate this in my top 3

First thing out of the box I noticed that the finish wasn't at all like the stock photos online. It isn't transparent at all, more of a flat black finish (on the trans. black version, of course). It was set up great from the factory, and after tuning it up, it felt great with low action and no fret buzz. It is my son's first guitar and we were both pretty happy with it until we plugged it into an amp. A lot of noise, and is overbearing at times. I went through and cleaned up the poor soldering inside the cavity and fixed a damaged wire, but it didn't help the noise situation. I tested the amp with my Dean Custom 350 and it was quiet, so there is something up with the electronics in this guitar. All in all, not too bad for the money. Good for practice without amplification.

WHO NEEDS A STRAT , NOT ME

By MR_Synister

from Jamestown, NY

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

When my better half decided it would be fun for me to acompany her keyboard after 8 years of not playing guitar I went looking for a good deal just to please her. I tried 1000 dollar and up, 500 and up and they were good but when i picked up this little 150 dollar dean I was amazed. This monster plays better then the les paul i had and looks just mean. Great for metal and wierd combos that we do, havent had the tuner or strap trouble i hear about havent had to tune it in two months either and we check it every day. So to all you strat and les paul snobs, go ahead spend the big bucks we can play the tunes and have money left for beer.

A must have for a metal rocker!

By Slipknotfreak

from Friendswood, TX

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

Man, this guitar rocks out. If you are the metal loving guitarist... this is your guitar. It is very easy to handle, but it gets out of tune quckly. But, it does well in concerts. The other day, I played at my park in my neigborhood. The people loved it. A must have!!!

Hat's Off To Dean Guitars...

By C.R.Morales

from Charlton,Ma.

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for about 15 years, and for about the past 5,strictly acoustic.Wanting to get get back into playing electric again,I looked for a good deal.Having played Dean Guitars previously I started there, and the search was short.Everything I read about the XM Vendetta was so positive I had to check it out.Well, from the moment I picked it up I had no doubt it was the right choice. With great looks, great sounding pick-ups,other than changing the tuners it plays like a much more expensive guitar I've got to recommend it,hat's off to Dean Guitars!!!

It's Use

By Anonymous

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

If you have $120 and if you need a new axe, this will be the deal of a lifetime! However if you want to get guitar to play rock or classic rock, these are not designed to play those types of music. But if you want an affordable guitar to play metal or blues, this is the right one.

Great metal and grunge sound!!

By TIM

from Macclenny, FL

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

This is my first electric guitar, and for a first it is great. If you're a metal/grunge guitarist(Metallica sound) this is your guitar, but if you're a classic rock guitarist(Guns N'Roses or Aerosmith sound) you might want to think about new pickups or a Les Paul style guitar. The strap holder comes out after frequent uses with a strap, but if you can find a little bit bigger screw it will work just fine.

Surprise, Surprise.

By A.Violent.Strike.

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting to get a Vendetta for quite some time. I've had my eye on the Vendetta 4.0F. The $600+ is a bit out of my range at the moment though. I was quite firm in not accepting one of the XM's considering my Evo XM required 90% of the stock parts to be replaced, yet is still great to play. I didn't want to have to go through that again. I saw this used at GC for $39.99. How could I not at least take a look? I was very skeptical as you can imagine. I picked it up, the body is frighteningly light. The neck weighs more, yet it remains quite balanced. Nothing like an SG-style neck dive though. The sound is strangely resonant. The string-through definitely helps the sustain. The action was nice, only a slight buzz on the D. A few scratches and wear along the lower bout and body, but nothing severe. The neck looked very slightly bowed, yet still played fine. The pick ups are weak, as are the tuners, but the sound is reasonable and the tuners hold decently. Played through a Fender RP1Kh, it sounded a little bland, but tolerable. When played through a Line6 gear box, it was much more adaptable. The neck plays well and the upper frets, all the way to the 24th, are very accessible. The frets are smooth have a good size. So, for $40, I would have been stupid to pass up on this deal regardless. Everything I will replace will most likely cost more than the axe itself, but for a fabulous deal on a nice instrument, how could I go wrong? I even played a new one they had in store and essentially came to the same conclusion, aside from the fact that mine was worn in. I'm surprised, as are the friends who have checked it out after I brought it home. When I have the funds, I will definitely pick up a higher end Vendetta. Excellent choice for a student or anyone looking for a bargain or modding guitar, here's a great choice.

Great guitar for beginners like me

By Jon Grasser

from Marietta, PA

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar yesterday. I brought it home and started playing it. The only problems i had were a loose volume knob which i am sure is a quick fix. Overall a great guitar for the price. Thanks for making my experience great.

Great First Guitar

By Jer

from Rome, PA

Comments about Dean Vendetta XM Electric Guitar:

Started playing on a kiddie guitar, this is my first "real" guitar, plays great, sounds good through my setup, which is basically a couple of Fab Pedals, ran directly through my PC sound card. The only problem I ran into was that I needed to tighten up the Volume and Tone knobs, just pull the back cover off and hand tighten them, and problem solved!
