I like the wieght of it. No problem with spins. I'm probobly going to change the pickups to EMGs because i play death metal, and want to sound heavier. The neck is very smooth. The frets sort of stick out to the sides, i'll probobly file them down a bit. All in all its one of the best guitars I own.

The Vendetta VNXM 7-string is a good guitar for the money, if you want to start playing the 7-string. The pick ups are a bit weak, so you may want to replace them down the road. The fit and finish is not bad at this price point. It plays well for being an extended range guitar.

You get what you pay for.

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

You get what you pay for with this one. The finish I wouldn't call trans black, more like trans olive drab. Electronics are cheap unbranded. Setup was nice, intonation and action were acceptable. Got this for my son to try an extended range guitar on the cheap. If you ok with cheap components and pot luck finish than grab one up. I'm not bashing this guitar just trying to give an honest opinion. Overall I think it looks cool and is playable out of the box.

Looks Nothing Like The Picture But Seems Good

By BadWlf9

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

This was a gift for my 16-year old son as his 4th guitar. He seems to really enjoy it and hasn't complained about it's performance at all. I was really disappointed when I opened it because it looks nothing like the picture. It's just a plain high gloss black.

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

Having owned 3 different Deans, this one included, and as much as Dean is one of my favorite brands, this particular instrument is pretty forgettable. When first looking at this guitar, especially if you've been lusting after your first 7 string, the first thought at this one would be "Oh wow, a 7 string for under 200!" Sure, price is good, but if you buy a cheaply priced guitar, more often than not, you get a cheaply made guitar. One of the upsides to this instrument is it's low weight, but that doesn't come without a catch. Paulownia is a light wood, yes, but not the best wood for building a guitar.

It weighs nothing, but it feels hollow, which is especially worse considering the neck weighs more. The pickups leave something to be desired. The pickups sound too muddied on the 7th string. They have low output, so if you're a shredder type, this guitar will do nothing for you. Pinch harmonics are also a struggle due to the low output, and the only way to really get heavy sound out of this guitar is to run it through a distortion pedal.

The playability is lacking as well, as the action is never set properly. Adjusting it will just throw the guitar out of tune. The strings are not bad. It comes stock with D'Addarios, but the strings don't mean anything if the guitar is going to screw you when adjusting the action.

All in all, this guitar really isn't worth buying, no matter how bad you want a 7. It's not even worth buying for the purpose of rebuilding. In the world of the extended range instrument, it is often difficult to find a 7 or more string for a decent price, but if you're looking for a good one, especially your first 7, do yourself a favor and go for something more like an Agile or one of Ibanez's entry level 7 strings.

    deathmetal machine

    By floyd ball

    from port arthur, texas

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

got this guitar today and so far so good for my first brand new guitar, hoped for more transparency from the paint so the grain of the wood could be more visible. had a used dean avalanch7 for years i got from a pawn shop that was amazing that had to be sold during rough times, but this guitar is a very suitable replacement, the pick ups are good but does have weak 250k potentiometers that will be replaced with 500k or better once i can afford them. as is... i run straight into an Acoustic g120 dsp with 2-12" speakers and get good quality brutal deathmetal out of it. head stock differs from the picture with dean in small letters and vendetta in bigger letters. love the all black hardware and to me nothing beats string through bodies with tune-o-matic bridges. strings are a bit light guaged so will be replacing soon. tuning pegs are smaller than my previous dean with grover pegs but still nice and not hard to tune for the more professional touch. over all i look forward to many year with mine.

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

This guitar was purchased for our son for Christmas. He picked it out and so far, so good. He really likes it and although he has only been playing it for a short while, he seems to be very happy with it. I also appreciate the help I received at the store. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

The guitar has many problems. The wiring came undone multiple times. The frets would buzz constantly. The wood is very soft and the screws for the strap came un-threaded and I dropped my guitar.

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

This is a pretty good deal if you are just wanting to try a 7 string out but you dont want to spend alot and I'd probably give it 5 stars for the price. But I have to give it 4. One, it's not the same color as the picture. It's black. And two, the ninth inlay fell out before I even opened it. I used my dremel to create my own inlay out of abe lincolns head from a penny though so that's okay. The hardware works and the electronics work so i'd probably recommend it if it's your first 7 string. And it actually didn't really need any serious adjustments. I took it out of the box and tuned it without adjusting the neck and its just fine. No serious problems other than color and one inlay. I don't regret buying it. Good for the money.

    its a decent axe

    By BigDave-te58y

    from Houston, TX

Comments about Dean Vendetta VNXM 7-String Electric Guitar:

look...this guitar is NOT THAT BAD. yes it could use better pickups (because yes...they are rubbish when you compare them to most non-proprietary brands like Duncan, EMG, etc.) and yes it could have a more solid body to it (its light as a feather which makes it feel like you're holding a giant piece of Bolsa wood with 7 strings on it). But unless you're going to go fully customized, this is a great guitar for anyone who is wanting to try their hand at owning a 7-string guitar without having to shell out the extra cash for a Schecter or an Ibanez. Cosmetically, its a thing of beauty i have the old style in a gloss black with the large "Vendetta" lettering on the beastly-looking headstock. its one of my favorite axes in my arsenal.
needs better pickups other than that its a pretty solid basic axe
