I just got my BZburst 4 days ago through mail. I used to be a big Epiphone/Gibson "V" fan but ever since I bought my first Dean V (Michael Schenker), I'm never gonna switch to a different brand ever. The Dean VX model beats my epiphone & gibson flying V by a mile. The stock pickups sounds way better. You can play any style of music from blues to metal and the neck is just built for shredding (although the Michael Schenker has a fatter neck than the VX). But still, for the price, IT IS THE BEST GUITAR out there. If you're thinking of getting a really good quality guitar, get this one and I promise you, you will not regret getting it!!!!

I have never really turned down a Dean when I saw one. This guitar, however, requires some upgrading.
The great things about this guitar is that to a novice, the sound is amazing, but to someone like me who considers themselves 'experienced', I would spend a little bit of time and money into upgrading the electronics. The pickups, which, like I said, sound amazing to a novice, cause a bit of an unwanted buzz.

Overall, when considering this guitar, give some thought into a minor overhaul.

This is Awsome, Heavy Metal

By Zack the Rippper

from San Antonio ,TX

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

This guitar is Awsome. It is the best guitar for the price, evan better than some 3 times more expensive. For a bolt-on neck(don't worry, not a big heel)you can reach all the frets with not that much of a stretch for me. The Pick-ups are OK, evan though alot of people replace them, I think they give satasfactory output, especially with an effects pedal(distortion). The body is not too heavy, and the neck is really fast. I keep hitting it on everything(doors, hallways) yet not too much of a scratch. The headstock is awsome and just being a V makes you want to bang your head. The tuners are OK after awhile, but at first, it takes a little while for it too keep in tune. This is a great guitar, and I personally like it better in black, It's so smooth and clean. All in all, it's the best guitar under $700.00 and Dean is one of the premier guitar makers who make good quality insturments while maintaining a lower price(cheaper, but not cheaply made)Get this and get ready to ROCK!!!

By Austin

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

This was my first guitar, when i was looking for one about a year ago, that day i bought it i had played a Ibanez, Jackson, Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, and i narrowed it down to the Jackson and Dean, i chose the Dean on lookes and weight, but when i got home and was learning things i realized that this guitar was by far the best choice i could have made, im sticking with Dean, i recently got a Dean Performer, its a Dean acoustic, it amazed me again! i recommend Dean guitars or Dean anything to all guitar player! best guitar company ever!!!

Great Value!

By Riffmerchant

from Clovis, CA

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

For what you pay for this guitar it's way worth it! First off it's a V, 2nd it's a Dean, enough said. The neck is very slim, smooth, and silky this guitar is very easy to shred on. The bridge is o.k. and pickups the same tuners as well. I have an Ibanez RG and this guitar plays and sounds much better and cost half as much. I got brazilaburst and it is beautiful. It is very light weight and "evil" looking, if you play metal or rock or whatever you will not be disappointed with this guitar.

Dean VX Electric Guitar

By Operationanti

from Spokane, WA

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

I bought my Dean VX after seeing a picture of it on the Dean website. Although I bought it based soley on looks and price, I was pleasantly surprised when my local guitar shop finally got one in stock for me. The Braziliaburst finish was even more impressive in person than it was online. The hardware is all chrome and very solid, and in terms of durability, I have been abusing it steadily for the past eight years, and having the nut replaced has been my only repair so far. Out of the box, the playability of my Dean was above satisfactory. After having a tech replace the stock metal string saddles with graphite, he also adujusted the string height, and now the action is great. Even though I use fairly heavy strings (10-52), it is still very manageable. Of course, playability and overall tone is not as great as higher end models, but for the price, the VX exceeds all reasonable expectations and then some. My only complaint about the guitar was the pickups. They have a decent, lower-middle-of-the-road humbucker sound, but by investing a little bit more than $100 into a Gibson Burstbucker Pro for the bridge position, the VX has all the bite and punch that I need to get a raunchy metal attack. On the higher strings, it gave my leads much more definition and an overall better tone. In my opinion, the chrome colored pickup also looks much better with the VX than the stock black and white ones. Even a couple of cheap pickup covers can be a great way to give the VX the look of higher end models. Finally, the basswood body isn't my first choice for material, but in it's price range, you are lucky to find anything better than plywood. Although I will probably end up with an exotic and expensive dream guitar at some point in my life, the VX will always be part of my arsenal.

By Tevin

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

this guitar is amazing. its worth every penny. i got it becuase i have know about dean for sometime now and i was looking for a new guitar and i said ill give it a shot. well, im glad i did this is one of the best guitars i have ever played in my life. the pickups are wondeful and very sensitive, the neck is smooth and slim so you can play very fast and it has an average weight. and it also looks very cool, classical, yet has a more modern theme to it. and the gloss black paint makes it stand out. all in all it met passed out all of my expectations. from this day forth i shall only play DEAN!!!

Amazing guitar for Cheap

By Fat Kid Aaron

from Windsor, On

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar two weeks ago I waited and waited and waited for 4 months while the shipment came in but when I went down to guitar Center in Detroit to buy it and pick it up it was amazing. When I saw the cover come off of it it just looked more amazing than I thought it would. I got the trans braziliaburst and its such a nice looking guitar. I'm in a band and my main instrument is drums but when my guitarist came over for practice he played it for a few seconds stopped and said he wants one after only playing for a few seconds. This guitar looks great, sounds amazing, and for the price is probably the best guitar you can find for under $300.

An Awesome Guitar, Great for Anyone from Beginners to Experts

By The Showstopper Brandon Blazer

from Knoxville, TN

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

I got this for Christmas as my first guitar. I didn't expect it to top a Schecter Damien FR that I had played at my friends house, but it came really close. This guitar has great stock pickups, and switch to a SD Invader in the neck and a SD Distortion in the bridge and you've just beefed up the beast. This guitar, with the right amp settings and distortion, can destroy other guitars

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

This is my third guitar, and it's amazing for the price. The neck is very nice for shredding and tapping. It has a great hard rock metal sound and it's good for playing the blues too.If you play any gigs youll stick out with this guitar it looks cool plays cool its just an awsome guitar but the only downside is the size make's its hard to find a hardshell case for it that isnt very expensive, but you could fit it into a acoustic bass gigbag.I highly reccomend this guitar to any player beginner or pro its an all around great guitar, dont be hesitant in buying this it is worth it.

Great Guitar For Performing

By Cory

from Manchester, Vermont

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

This is great guitar. The neck is very smooth and its is a very easy and playable guitar. When I first got this guitar, I had alot of trouble keeping it in tune for the first 3 days. I would play one solo and the thing would be all over the place. But after those 3 days it barley ever goes out of tune. This is a great guitar for performing and not for sitting down. If you are thinking about getting your first guitar, this is not the guitar for you since you cant play it sitting down. Overall its a very smooth and good sounding guitar.

Great V for any price!

By Louis

from Algonquin,IL.

Comments about Dean VX Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a 2nd guitar for gigs and went shopping at guitar center. I played an Ibanez, Epiphone, Fender, But the Dean VX just kicked all of the others to the ground! Better sound & more comfortable too.My backup guitar became my main one. The necks are a satin finish. I can't stand painted necks. If you're cranking it out on a hot sweaty stage under lights that can melt steel you don't want to have a painted neck anyway. I did change the bridge pickup to a dimarzio super distortion for more midrange bite with a tone control coil tap. And rewired the neck pickup from series to parallel to brighten up the tone. But I played many gigs for about a year with the stock pickups. The body is very light weight compaired to my 2 explorers. As with all guitars, you have to set it up or have it done for you,to get the full potential of this great guitar. Some complaints are that it won't stay in tune. But that can just be the bridge needing to be adjusted.
