This Guitar has good tone, but small tone. It's built to be a solo guitar, playing with friends is limited because its so quiet. There is no truss adjustment nut, but they sent me tools with it. The strings that come are garabage, they don't stay in tune. And if you put light strings on it its the same story. Some heavy strings are a good fix for this problem. It doesn't come with a strap, and its definitely not a sitdown guitar. The only really good aspect of this guitar is the unique shape. A V-acoustic. I guess since its a first, they need to work out the kinks.

Okay

By Sean

from Denver, CO

This was my first guitar. It sounds dull acousticly, but when plugged into an amp, its sounds pretty good. It is uncomfortable to paly while sitting down. I gave it a 4 stars because my entire input jack came undone. It is just a washer and bolt glued on to the guitar to hold the jack in place, and i pulled my cable out and it fell off and the actual jack fell into my guitar. Just take good care of the input jack. Other than that, it is a pretty decent guitar for anyone.

wow

By Dave

The minute i heard this guitar i fell in love with it. I have never had a single problem with the electronics, but the strings that it came with were knocked out of tune very easily so you might want to change those. Otherwise its a great guitar.

Flying V is nice

By DummyDuhast

from Eau Claire, WI

I have been wanting to get one of these every since I went to the Spinal Tap 25th anniversary acoustic show in Milwaukee and they had a flying V acoustic on one of the T shirts they were selling. My wife ended up getting it for me for Christmas in Natural. When I first opened it up I was really impressed with the fit and finish of the guitar as well as the nice custom gig bag. It did not have a strap included but it has a strap button on the bottom and you have to tie it to the head. It is hard to hold standing up without a strap but sitting is ok if you put the V around one leg. It sounded a little cheap with the stock strings but I replaced them with Elixir extra light phos. and wow, it sounds wonderful now. Connected to an amp sounded good even with the stock strings. I also found the stock strings to be stiff and a bit hard to play for a novice. The Elixir strings transformed it from a novelty guitar to real gem. I would recommend this guitar to anyone that is considering it. But I would order a good set of strings right away.

Awesome and Unique

By Paige

from Michigan

I saw this guitar in the store and thought it was awesome. I've never played or anything before, but this guitar made me want to play. I went back the next day and tried it out and had my friend (been playing since she was little) look it over and she said it was good for me. I've had no problems with it yet. I think its pretty unique and it fit me. I'd suggest it for a person who plays guitar for a hobby like I do. I'm very happy I bought this guitar.

v-coustic

By chimera

from chula vista

i have been playing the electric guitar for about 5 years in a band. just recently i started playing acoustic guitar, its much harder to play then electric in my opinion. the dean v-coustic is perfect for my playing style. i can reach the high notes, do ez pull offs and hammer ons, bends ect. i didnt like the strings it came with so i changed them right away and it sounds much better. tone is suprisingly good for a V. i think that this is a good guitar for a beginer like me. if you have been playing acoustic for a long time, dont get it, there are probably alot of better guitars out there.

V-Coustic ROCKS!!!

By Mr. Keith

from Winston-Salem, NC

I purchased this guitar on-line. It was advertised as "like new". I had it shipped to my home. Let me tell you, I was really surprised at how it came. It was packaged very well. It looked "brand new" and it plays excellant. I would advise investing in a new set of strings for it, though. And if you have never played a "V" before - it may take some getting used to. But I love it and would highly recommend it to another musician. DEAN FRIGGIN' ROCKS!

Not Bad

By Nick Miller

from Leicester, Massachusetts

For a made in China guitar, it is actually not that bad. When I use a thick pick, thee tonal clarity is unbeatable. Of cource it is a bit hard to sit down with, but I expected that. So if you're a musician on a budget I reccomend this to you. But not a beginner.

Great 1st acoustic!

By StickRocker!

from wherever the rock takes me!

I have just gotten this guitar for christmas 2007 and when I opened the case I could not have been happier! The craftsmanship in this guitar is unbelievable. Dean makes the greatest guitars hands down! Once I got this bad boy into tune I started strumming away and I could'nt set it down. It had a very smooth sound to it and had excellent playabilliity. If you want a great guitar with mean looks, great sound, excellent playability, and most importantly a killer price! this is the guitar for you.

By steve

I bought this guitar three days ago and it sound, looks, and feels beautiful it has sharp metal looks but yet plays like a true acoustic the only problem I found is that I could not figure out how to change strings I broke one string while trying to add re verb and will probably have to take it to guitar center and have them do it but over all a wonderfull guitar and worth the money

Why?

By Leech

from Fayetteville, AR

An acoustic guitar is typically shaped somewhat like a figure-8, and the magic of the acoustic guitar, that is, how a tiny little string can make such a loud sound, comes from the bottom half of that 8-shape. You'll notice that the bridge of most acoustic guitars attaches to the front of the body really close to the middle of that lower part of the 8-shape, so that it can transfer more of the energy of the string to the body. it's sort of like a flat, wooden speaker cone. You'll notice that the V Coustic has no such capacity. When unplugged, it's only slightly louder than an ES-335, around the volume level of a Martin Backpacker, only with terrible intonation. The only reason to get this guitar is for its flashy looks, but, even for the price, there are better ways.

It's ok...

By Ken

from Garden Grove, CA

Playabitity - Sitting down with this guitar is not a good idea unless you have a strap. The strings are pretty heavy gauge so you might want to restring it too. Sound - The shape of the guitar affects the sound in a pretty bad way IMO. It has a very trebly tone compared to other acoustics. All of the peole I've shown this guitar too, most thought it looked ugly. When I first saw this guitar, I thought it was really cool. After a few days it look ugly =O

Very Impressive

By Nathan

from Dallas, TX

I was very weary when purchasing this guitar. I liked that it was a "V" but i was afraid it would sound flat and boring. I was very wrong this is my favorite acoustic guitar, i have never played one with such fantastic sound quality. Yes, you do lose some bass since it is not an "8" Shaped guitar. But it has a perfect about of bass in it for me. The electronics work great Clean and Distorted. I love the access to higher frets, makes solos much easier to play. And the price is awesome, i would recommend this guitar to anybody.

Great Guitar

By wayne

from Buckeye, Arizona

I've recently bought this guitar and it has provided me with a great, clear sound. It is great for blues and softer rock and can be played with an amp or by itself just as loud as an acoustic can be. the guitar requires a battery for the pickups and if the battery starts to die then your sound will start sounding a little sloppy but you just have to replace the battery. Overall, it's a great guitar and i highly recomend it for those players who like softer music.
