I purchased a $100 guitar from Walmart, to start teaching myself, and practiced for almost 12 months. My wife and one of my sons were impressed by my progression and decided to buy me this guitar as a surprise for Christmas 2009 (i'd been eying it up for weeks on the Guitar Center website). Well, my wife took me to Guitar Center in Naperville IL and as soon as I picked it up we bonded. I had it restrung with 11 strings and it sounds awesome, I also got an amp from my inlaws, which I rarely use because the guitar sounds so good unplugged. Now i'm playing along to some favorite songs plus some I never knew before, all self taught via the internet. I did have to have the guitar adjusted once, but it stays in tune forever when re tuned. I hope to be visiting again soon for my next guitar, but I won't be part exchanging my wonderful Dean :) By the way... I have double jointed fingers and cannot Barr chord, but don't let that put you off, I can play over 200 songs and my list grows weekly... I have to add, I love visiting Guitar Center, the staff are like friends they never presure you and are so informed about what they sell. Thank you Guitar Center!!!
Just purchased mine a couple days ago, and man is it worth the money. Plays and feels like a $1000+ guitar. The sound is really nice and the onboard electronics work great. This is my first Dean and I will definitely own more in the future. Cannot say enough good about it. I am convinced you won't find anything close to it in the price range. Dean has a new customer for life.
I got this Performer in Classic Black. Right when I got it, I was astounded, by not only the look, but by who crisp the sound was. On top of that, the tuner is amazing. It is one of the most accurate tuners that I have ever used. It is extraordinary when it is either plugged in or unplugged. When I performed with this Dean, it came to life, and was complemented on it by more than one person. If you want a cheap acoustic-electric, this is definitly the way to go.
This guitar is all I expected of it and more. I ordered mine online in the blue sunburst finish and when I got it I couldn't believe my eyes. It comes with a LOT of premium features for an UNBELIEVABLY low price. High quality finish, multi-ply binding, an abalone rosette, and MORE. I got mine from Guitarcenter.com to replace my Ovation Celebrity, and I know what you're thinking...."Buying a Dean to replace an Ovation! Idiot." Well.....I love this Dean more than I ever loved my Ovation but that's just me. One thing I noticed is it didn't come with the tuner/preamp shown in the picture, it came with a BETTER one a Dean i2Nr preamp w/ built-in tuner and let me tell you it is EPIC! Now for the sound, unplugged this axe has a full, rich, raw acoustic sound but plugged in to my Marshall, this thing comes ALIVE!!!! No other guitar in my collection can out match it! Overall, if you like Deans and you want an affordable, good sounding, acoustic axe.....BUY THIS GUITAR!!!!!!
I did not buy my Performer through G.C., but from Ebay. It's the same guitar, I paid the same price, but when it arrived, the center brace, directly under the sound hole was broken. I could have sent it back, but since it would not stay in tune very long, I just sent it to my pal Joe Reggio, the guitar tech. Joe reworked the frets, glued the brace and now this guitar plays very nicely, stays in tune. The battery tuner works, but it's easy to leave it on accidentally and run the battery down. And the fingerboard is a tad narrow, so if you have large hands and fingers, you may wish to consider a larger bodied guitar. That said, I like this smaller, brite sounding guitar, it's a good value. Just plan on having it set up and you won't be disappointed.
I've had this guitar for about a year now. I was blown away by the aesthetics and tone of this guitar from the moment I took it out of the box(I got the blue sunburst finish). For the price, Dean has put together an awesome package with this one. Paired with a nice set of Elixer strings, this baby can sing with the Hummingbirds(pun intended). I recommend this guitar to someone who is just starting out, it wont let you down.
This was my first guitar and i am very pleased with it. It has great quality and is great for beginners. I highly suggest it for first time guitar owners(and people who have had guitars in the past will be pleased with it too!)
This guitar was my fist actual guitar and it plays great. I use it at all my gigs and performances. On any song I play it works perfectly to it
This is a very good guitar for the price. I was a bit iffy getting it before playing it but once it came in I was so pleased. The neck is really fast for an acoustic. I got mine in black so I fight to keep it clean. The electronics are great and really come in handy. The sound is pretty good unplugged but comes to life plugged in. Now I'm saving up up for a Dean Exotcia RSE Supreme since i can get it for around the same price as this one. Overall, great guitar though not a Taylor, Martin, or Gibson. This model is great but go to a higher Dean model once more experienced.
this is my second acoustic guitar and my 4th guitar overall. I played it in my local store after playing multiple ones, and i feel in love with this guitar. Not only does it have great action but it also sounds wonderful and is ideal for recording. I work in a recording studio and this was ideal for recording my own songs. love it!
