I just picked up an Orange Palomino. It plays extreamly well and has great tone. The P90's are just a wonderful pick-up and really works well with this hollow body design. I do find it a bit heavy compared to say a epi joe pass model or 335. however at this price point. I don't think one would find it a major issue. excellent tone for rockabilly, jazz and blues. The orange model I have does draw lots of attention from audience and other musicians when I play it live. to sum things up great jazz box at a killer price.

I ordered this guitar last December, and have problems rating it. The fit and finish was very good. Frets were nice and level, and such. But plugged into my amp, this guitar produces a huge low range feedback on all of my amps channels and settings -- jazz, classic rock, and metal. I cranked out this feedback with my graphic EQ and then noticed that the pickups squealed on any amp setting. I cranked out the squeal, and was left with no tone. I called my luthier who said the guitar probably had some structural components of the body missing, and clearly had bad pickups. I returned the guitar the next day. But I have asked a friend who is a manager at a music store that sells Dean to call me if they get one of these in, so I can check it out. I really think (and hope) that the individual guitar I got was defective, and that a proper one might have some promise.

Comments about Dean Palomino Electric Guitar:

This guitar is the same dimensions as a Gibson ES-175. Is it as good? maybe. The Gibson is legendary for jazz, but its $3500.00. This guitar is wonderful to play and the tone is on the money. As I said, is it as good? Perhaps but its just different. The P-90s are great and the neck pickup reminds me of the Ted
Mc Cardy pickup used in the old L7s. Balanced and full. What gives this guitar the edge is the strat pickup selection. The 2nd and 4th position has a noticeable strat sound only bigger. Its one of the great guitar buys today. One thing, its a little heavy.

Comments about Dean Palomino Electric Guitar:

I swapped out the P90's for some SD humbuckers. Lost the pickguard when I moved somehow. Does Dean want to sell me a pickguard to replace it? No. They won't even return my calls to say "no." So, if you think you might ever need any parts or anything, forget it, once it's sold to you, you aren't a concern of Dean's.

Comments about Dean Palomino Electric Guitar:

A sturdy, well made guitar. I found the pickups to be terrible- Overpowered, noisy ceramics. The one position I liked was the combination of neck and middle- basically, like a humbucker with a moderate output. Since I don't really need a 5-way hollow body, I wired the neck and middle together, put a good alnico P90 in the bridge, and switched out the 5 for a 3 way switch. Now I switch between a smooth, jazzy humbucked neck, bright crunchy rock and roll bridge, and a thin, almost acoustic sounding middle position (using all three pickups). While doing the mod, I noticed high quality switch and pots.

Comments about Dean Palomino Electric Guitar:

I brought this ax 4 the reason of it is a good sounding guitar. And this ax has a sweet jazz tone I have on order the monster jazz cables to get an even sweeter sound but 4 now it is killer. the guy I spoke with said was great ax and to me he was right. I brought a gator archtop case to go with it and is perfect fit. this is a winner in sound and playable feel. in the neck it give 2 me that es 175 vibe of jazz and the others 4 rockabilly and blues. through my acoustasonic 150 and it give the sound u would expect of p-90 pups. look r sexy and that 4o's vibe is what they say about it all true 2 me. so don't fret get yours now if u like that vibe I mentioned. I took G-C's word 4 it. thank G-C and dean 4 a sale and good ax

I saw people mention it on youtube and play review and demo it. From what I see and hear and read the Good reviews of it I decided to buy it and try it. this ax looks 40ish and stylish of the day f-hole guitars were popular the eletronics r classic but in strat format as far as the switch is concerned hut resembles a es-5 switch master from Gibson. Although it is from dean. This ax will get the jazz used out of it and other styles if need b but as far as metal no way better a strat or an Ibanez rg or the like is better suited 4 that. brain setzer ,wes joe pass pat matheny herb ellis mark whitfield john pissano pat martino berelli le grene stuff is best 4 this includine duane eddy stuff 2.

If you're after that clean warm 50s sound then this guitar is good for you. I've added a Bigsby to it and I'm living in rockabilly surf heaven. Knobs and pots are cheap. In the future I would replace pickups with fralin replacements. Can't go wrong with 5 way pickup system.
