i just bought this guitar in the store 1 week ago today and i have hardly been able to put it down. it looks incredible, some have said that it doesnt give off a good metal sound, but i have to disagree, it sounds perfect, the only thing i will probably ever change is the volume and tone knobs to chrome, thats it, and of course the strings, but its an amazing guitar with a low price tag, i highly reccomend.

TONE MONSTER

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

This guitar totally surpassed my expectations and then blew the door off! Quick back story: I ran into hard times and had to downsize. So I traded in my expensive Dean Deceiver with EMGs for this Michael Schenker Standard in the hopes I wouldn't get something totally inferior, given the price difference and pickups. Boy was I wrong. First, the tone; both pickups just roar like a lion but sound good played clean. The description just lists them as DMT Pickups. I'm making an educated guess that they are import versions of Schenker's USA DMT Lights Out Pickups since this guitar is made in the same plant as the Schenker Retro, and they sound ceramic to me. But not only do they roar under high gain, but they also manage to sustain a high degree of clarity and sustain. The tone control is very sensitive, you can dial in a lot of tones with just the tone knob and leaving your amp at your favorite setting. Second is looks. It's the basic black and white Schenker paint scheme, nothing fancy, but very handsome. It has the classic Dean V headstock which I love, a pure matter of personal taste. Lastly is playability. Awesome neck and fretboard. It's a super modern C, almost bordering on a D. It has 22 super jumbo frets and it's a very fast neck. And as with all V's, you have complete access to all 22 frets. I am still getting used to playing a V shaped guitar, but it is a fast and fun pleasure to play. I can't emphasize enough how much this guitar exceeded my expectations. I see why it gets the great reviews it does.

Rockin'

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

This guitar is a great guitar for intermediate guitar shredders. I have been playing guitar for 2 years, and I have learned 80% of Metallica's songs on this guitar, no problem. great tone and great chunky distortion. I rip through the solo's and glide through the blues. its looks amazing up on stage, and is pretty light for the size of the guitar. Like i said, great guitar if youre lookin to step up from that beginner stage.

Rock you like a hurricane

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

Out of all my guitars, I play this one the most. It's great distortion and awesome rock tone give it a 5 stars from me. The way it looks just blows me away. My favorite feature on it has to be the half black, half white head. I love Dean guitar heads and this is just plain cool. Great look. Great sound. Buy it.

awesome v

By

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

This guitar is amazing. the neck is super thin, the tuners stay in tune and the sustain is increadable. The only thing that I changed in the guitar were the pick ups. I didn't like the way that they sounded. They didn't have enough bite. I replaced them withemg passive h1 and h3 pickups. I play with ghs 10 gage strings. I also play through a 100 crate amp. the only cases that it fits in are the cases from dean, the skb v case, and the coffin case. The only other thing that I want to change are the strap buttons. For the money this is a great guitar, it stays in tune and sounds great with some changes.

Done right, this is an awesome guitar...

By

from Eugene, OR

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

As one reviewer mentioned, swap out the humbuckers. I also had the neck re-set, the frets leveled and re-crowned. While I was changing the pickups (or a luthier can do it for you) I tapped the coil so that I can get a single coil in either the bridge or neck position. ALL This cost me was a couple hundred dollars and now the guitar is up there with the signature model. Choose your pickups carefully, I chose DiMarzio. Good Luck!!!

Best guitar i've ever played!!

By

from culpeper, va

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

This guitar is freakin awesome! I got this thing when I was looking for a pretty cheap guitar that looked cool. not only is it a looker but it is very comfortable to play. the V shape is hard to sit down with but it's very easy to play with a strap. the neck is great for playing fast leads and bending is rather easy as well. the only drawback is that there's no tremelo system but with this thing you'll definetly get your money's worth!

SCORPION STUNG!!!!

By

from Idaho

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar as my first real axe and I love it to death. I have always liked the V-shaped guitars, then I found out about Dean with their sweet headstock and how Michael Schenker used them. I am a big fan of Scorpions and MSG so I instantly fell in love. I love the guitar as a whole. It has great tone, I use Dean Markley '73 reissue strings on it and it is great. I am just adding some chrome pickup covers to give it my own personal touch, maybe later I'll get a MS Lights Out pick up but its sound with stock pickups can rival Gibson guitars. Great buy, I strongly recomend this to players of all levels.

Perfect Guitar

By

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I bought this for my grandson who just started guitar lessons. It is a perfect guitar and amazing for the money. The picture does not do the guitar justice. It is perfect for a beginner and he could not be happier with it. If you are looking for a guitar that looks great, has wonderful sound and is a complete steal for your money this is the guitar for you.

Could Be Better

By

from Chalfont, PA

Comments about Dean Michael Schenker Standard Electric Guitar:

I like everything about this guitar except for the fret-board and pick-ups. other than that its a great guitar for starters. if i owned this guitar i would get rid of those open humbucker single-coils and throw in some EMG's. but thats just me. also, if you are a beginner, this isnt THE best beginner guitar, so keep your options open.
