This guitar has been built very well, my goal was to get a Gibson Schenker Flying V for a long time but always came short on cash, so now that Michael has switched to Dean my Dream of owning a Schenker guitar has come true! I got mine used, 2010 model at an awesome price!
For the money this is a great guitar. The action is nice, the neck is identical to a Gibson V. If you are looking for a thin narrow neck, look elsewhere. The neck is like a baseball bat. The pickups are very nice, Dean has put the Schenker signature Lights Out USA pickup in the bridge position. Really a great choice to put a quality pickup in the bridge position. My only gripe is there are some production issues with mine. My main complaint is there is white paint on the side of the rosewood fretboard, under the clear cote. The paint can't be removed since it's under the clear finish. The plastic film that was over the pickguard to protect it is hard to get off. The electronics and knobs were installed over the film. When I removed the film on mine, most off the film under the knobs stayed on. Now the film rubs on the knobs when I use them. I would have to take the knobs off to get the film completely off. I love the Dean headstock with the V, it's really perfect. The guitar is great, but I wish the production standards were a little better. For the price though, it's still a really nice instrument.
I got this guitar because I was amazed when I played it at GC. The neck is fast and smooth, really comfortable to play. The pickups are great, I usually replace my pickups with EMGs but these are great stock pickups and will stay. I brought it home and compared it to my Gibson explorer and I like this one better. No need to dish out too much money for a great guitar just get this one and its all you need.
Best guitar ever created!!! I love it!!! the sound is sooo perfect, and I like the price.. If you are a guitarist and your Michael Schenker is one of your favorite guitarists, this is a guitar for you.. It's awesome... the best guitar I have ever bought. 5 stars!!! :D
