Dave Mustaine named his signature acoustic-electric guitar "Mako" because of its shark gill-shaped soundhole, dorsal-fin-shaped bridge, and shark's teeth pearl inlays. The soundhole provides plenty of projection while the sharp Florentine cutaway on the mahogany body with maple top promotes upper fretboard shredding. The built-in tuner ensures the only dischords you play are intentional. Dave uses his Mako in the studio for layering and texturing tracks and feartures it on the intro to "The Hardest Part of Letting Go." Other distinctive features on the Dave Mustaine Mako include an ebony fingerboard, black NuBone nut and saddle, Grover tuners, and B-Band A3TY preamp with the aforementioned tuner.

All Good!

Comments about Dean Mako Dave Mustaine Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had the guitar shipped to the store. When I went to get it, it had body damage. Guitar Center took care of me and payed for two day air for another one (I originally shipped ground). My only complaint would be in the slits for the sound hole there was a bunch of "gunk" stuck to it. It took some work, but I was able to get most of it out. You can't see it unless you are looking. This guitar sounds AMAZING! The action is fantastic, electronics work great. I am very pleased with the purchase.

pretty nice

Comments about Dean Mako Dave Mustaine Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

let me point out I am a Newer player with limited experience. I bought this same day with a dean electric. This is a nice looking guitar. For the money this guitar was exactly what I wanted. I looked at lunas and deans because the price was right. Most were not worth the cash cause though pretty paint and finishes they did not play as well and felt cheap. This guitar stands out on looks and once I tried playing it found as far as the Dean line, the best acoustic so far I played. This was very nice sounding with great volume. Action was nice and easy to play. Also I would like to point out, I'm a big guy and this is a big guitar, fit into my hands nicely. The electronics work fine, though I don't use them normaly. I would recomend this if your on a budget or if you want something nice to take places takeing something more expensive would be sketchy. This is made in china but don't be scared of this one its actually nice.

Even better than expected

Comments about Dean Mako Dave Mustaine Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was smitten with this guitar ever since I watched videos of an acoustic show Dave Mustaine played using it. Now, granted, I don't think this will make me play like Dave, nor do we use the same amps, but it gave me a solid idea of what this guitar is capable of. I was slightly wary that the guitar was cheaper than I expected, but it was in my price range so after a year I put my hesitations aside, pulled the trigger, and bought the guitar. I'm so happy I did that. I never should have even doubted the guitar based on price. The tone is amazing, both plugged in and unplugged. It has a built in tuner, which is wildly convenient. It also has bass, mid, treble, presence, and volume knobs which give you even more options with your sound. It is a wide bodied guitar but still not uncomfortable to play. At 5 foot 1, my only other acoustic is thin bodied to allow me easier access to the front. So while that was another concern, I have no issue there either. It is made with top notch parts, comes with d'addario strings, and just looks and sounds fantastic. The shredded sound hole and shark teeth inlays add a unique visual to an incredible sound. The only bummer I had, and this was beyond minimal but disappointing when you want to run to plug it in and play, was that the battery in it was dead upon arrival. I didn't have a spare 9 volt in the house so ended up swiping one out of an alarm clock (who needs to wake up on time anyway?). The battery compartment is also very easy: a simple push and pop. Then you slide the battery into the casing and pop it right back in. All in all, I highly recommend this guitar. Looks great, sounds great, and is comfortable to move around on. Just keep a spare 9v battery if you get it shipped, just in case.
